If all this is true, it is really fucked up and bad news. Bw shouldn't ever end cause it is the best a seriously FFFUUUUU SC2 for doing this to the bw scene. Anyways it is really logical step as SC2 can make much much more money than BW to everyone involved and that is what companies do - make money. I was saying this since the beginning that only one pro of SC2 is money
Brood War is the best RTS that has ever been created.

Thank you for the translation. Really appreciate it.
I guess it's up to time to show us how much of this is the reality...

Relax man, I love brood war as much as the next guy, really I do. But you dont have to look at this cup as half empty, you know? With all our Brood War heroes coming to SC2 with pomp and circumstance, we are witnessing the growth of what we already loved.

By the release of legacy of the void, heres to hoping the we will look back at this time and smile.

Well, SC2 IS a new direction from BW..

but still, that's a low-blow.

Doesn't CJ own Gretech as well as Ongamenet? So they're essentially using Gretech to be A-holes towards Kespa unless KT/SK lets them control Kespa? That's a possibility considering how differently Gretech is treating Ongamenet vs MBCgame.

And it seems Ongamenet is banking too much on Boxer becoming a force in SC2. What if they get the rights but he doesn't do well?

It's not like SC2 had it's time to win us over from february, is it? I'd respect this kind of thing usually as an opinion, but as for now, it feels as if I'm being offered a janitorial job the moment after failing university.

We are not witnessing a growth we are witnessing a surrender to capitalist ideals. We can't blame them for wanting to secure a better fiscal future for themselves, but by that token we shouldn't hate Benedict Arnold for switching to what he thought was the winning side. A logical decision can have moral downfalls. That's how I feel. At the first true speedbump in the smooth running of PL, suddenly everyone jumps ship and swims to the enemy, instead of trying to keep SC1 alive they have dollar signs in their eyes. Fuck, I would do the same thing if I didn't absolutely love the game. Makes it obvious to me that progamers are just laborers, looking for the bigger check, not people who truly love the game.

I don`t know a lot about the subject but I guess Boxer would bring a lot of spotlight to GSL and SC2 no matter how he does, being such an icon.

Depressing.... I still hope BW scene manages to survive but it seems less and less probable every day.

No offense, but some of the denyers need to get their head out of their a**. With iloveoov and Effort switching over to SC2, former coaches trying to form SC2 teams, and current BW team with no B-teamers, BW Pro League is in a lot of trouble.

No offense , but this are still only rumors . Unless it's official it means nothing . There is also the rumor that Mike Morhaime was "bitchslaped" by the korean government . I'm geting tired of this rumors .

I really don't see any resolution to this conflict except in court. At this stage it seems like both parties aren't too willing to negotiate.
Not sure what I think about what CJ is doing honestly. Honestly I think it's likely that it will kill e-sports if they keep doing it.
Of course, I hope these rumors are just utter bullshit and they do solve it.

I agree with most of what you said but that's just weak. Come back to me when you've been practicing 12 hours a day for years while wallowing on the B-team with your career at a standstill like so many progamers. Plus, they can see where the wind is blowing -- should they stick it out until they're forced to retire when the teams finally close up shop, without having planned for any contingency?

No, CJ doesn't own Gretech. Gretech is its own company, and it's main (and basically the only) source of revenue is through GomTV.

Almost all the people in KeSPA are from SK. You can basically say that SK is KeSPA, although it has some influence from other team owners. Most companies with a team isn't strong enough to fight SK, but it seems CJ can and is willing to.

As for Boxer, even if he doesn't do will, he'll make the scene flourish. A lot of old gamers, like Reach and Yellow will do the same, but not to the degree of Boxer. Ongamenet knows that their rating is much higher when Boxer makes Starleague, even if he doesn't go that far.

Said rumor already happened. Government official basically said "Mike Morhaime is just a CEO of some gaming company."

They own 50% of Mnet, which in turn owns 25% of Gretech, so I doubt they have much control over the company.

Well, if a company (*cough* CJ *cough*) controls both sides of the negotiation, it's easier to comes to terms, right?

Yea, they don't love the game anymore, is that what you're trying to tell me? Because that's what I said. Sure I don't doubt they loved it at some point. They just don't anymore. Making a contingency plan is different from retiring from your current job and starting a new one. A contingency plan is like... Playing SC2 during your spare time in between practice for BW. They just all jumped ship.

IMO teams will always be looking to recruit former BW pros in SC2. That will never change, so they are set. The problem is that SC2 = money only for results, not for being part of a team. That's why so many people are trying to get that quick cash now. Pretty much they are placing their bets on winning/placing high in the tourney knowing that they won't get a salary if they switch to SC2. I.e. a more primitive proscene is attracting gamers just like going all-in does in poker.
