Was white_ra the protoss who did that in WCG or one of the other leagues? He complained about cheese so much everyone did it to him to annoy the hell out of him. Some people consider all 1 base play pvz cheese, which is just wrong. 9/10 Gate really isn't even cheese in base, it's akin to 8-rax (which I saw someone earlier mention they were prepping just for the cheese factor, it's really not if all you do is 8-rax. Pulling like 7 scvs to bunker rush after, yeah that's cheese). But the only real cheeses P has vs z are cannon rushes (which are kind of mandatory if you go 11 forge and they go 12 hatch and are scouted last) and proxy gates. Dragoon/Reaver pushes kind of fall into here as well but those are just so incredibly hard to do. Vs T they have the widest variety of cheese but even then, it's basically just like... proxy gate, proxy robo, dt rush/dt drop (a case could be made that neither of these are cheese if the player uses them for non-cheesy purposes, like 2 base arbs/fast expo, with the dts being used for contain). In pvp... nothing is cheese, there's just good strategies, bad strategies, and strategies that rely on opponents having bad scouting.

There are no rules for cheese in this league and if Xeno decides to use that building in all his games then you whiners will have to deal with it. As I mentioned earlier you would learn more if you practice several BOs specially if you accentuate your practice on your late game over your early game and if anybody choses to just play 1 BO throughout the whole league so be it. But then they are in a disadvantage. By judging the amount of work, practice and thought that Xeno put in to that build I back him up completely on this one. He is not just simply going blind and doing it for the sake of getting a win but for the sake of mastering that particular BO and even if is considered "cheese" what he is doing is exactly what I want you guys to be doing instead of posting crying comments in the NEWS thread.

Pulling off speedlings into lurkdrop into mass muta/double expand require enormous multitask due to the micro reliance of the build. I analyzed the map, I decided where to drop, what to drop, where to rally my mutas, different terran building placements in main (Since I had to try to delay vessel as much as possible) and when i should prepare for a counter attack and when i should pump some drones. I practiced against bunker rushes, double proxy gates, 5pool/sunken rushes, BBS, and learned how to best react to every cheese i could think of. (I even played against a reverse sim-city bunker rush into mass valks thanks to my crazy teammates lol) More specifically, I tried my 9hatch speedling build against 2port wraith, mech, 2 rax tech, 1rax FE, 2 rax FE, 3 rax sunken break, and different bunker rushes. All of this, i tried against players better than me (coach and some kid at a LAN party i met). I also did the build against 4 random D/D+ terrans on iccup. Plus, I practice muta micro daily for 3rd part of my BO. If all that didn't make me a better zerg player, then I give up. My BO may have been cheesy, but you better believe i knew exactly what to do when any part (or parts) of my 3 stage attacks failed. Whether or not I could actually do it well enough was another matter but don't think I didn't prepare for the late game. Wow, nice effort. I helped a pupil of mine prepare a build similarly like that, but not as extensively. As a coach it is very satisfying to see those kind of things. Props to you and your coach/practice partners. ![]() Btw, thanks for showing me how to indent, didn't know until I quoted you. :D On January 10 2010 23:18 RaptorX wrote: By judging the amount of work, practice and thought that Xeno put in to that build I back him up completely on this one. I'm just waiting for later tonight to get everyones replays as Deathgod and Shark are not on yet.

IMO it shoulda been best of 3 games, that makes more sense, esp if we are trying to teach players. 1 game matchs means they only have to practice one build the whole time and that wont help them in any real leagues its just another aspect of how starcraft has become a game where there is no adapting, you just have one build and thats it.

But in a team match, it's rather hard to have BO3s unless each set is played as a Best of 3. Then that'd just take forever.

Rather it wins CPL games or not. (which i thought was the perpose of this league) if you enter this league only wanting Wins then these kinda plays i see ppl do every week (not trying to pick on any players.. more towards the coach's *shame* ^_^ ) is exactly how you should play.. but the road to learning this game has nothing to do with proxy gate cannon rushing 9 9 9 zerg builds 4/5 pool's ect. becasue its bad. if somone was only after a rank there was a i guy from italy last season on iccup who proxy 2 center raxed every game all matchup's and he got A-.. he didnt have a game over 6 min out of all his games.. either he won or lost.. now the question remains is he good becasue he cheesed? maybe ppl have a diffrent oppenion.. maybe becasue i play this game seriously I see things diffrently .. maybe its me ^_^ LOL

I am a helping organizer for the Nation Wars League and Canada vs Russia Bo3's yesterday lasted less than 2 hours, while my CPL teams' match still isnt even done yet and it took like 2~3 hours yesterday to get things settled, in Bo1's.. I dunno. I dont think it takes much longer, unless you guys are playing your matches in a row, rather than at the same time.

With everyone able to watch each game progressively, it's easier for coaches to select an Ace player and to predict the Ace player of the other team based upon skill levels shown in game and stuff.

See, my early game, I was playing well because I had all this wonderful, wonderful, Orange Juice flowing through my blood. I was building units and painting the floor with blue goo like Jackson Goddamn Pollack. ![]() But I didn't drink enough orange juice. I drank a cup of orange juice, thinking I could end the game pretty fast. But gk_ender was a worthy opponent, and put up a bit of a tussle. He waited until my orange juice ability wore off. When we meat again, gk... I'm drinking the whole carton. ![]() But dammit I don't even need orange juice. . . Because I have one thing to say. . . It's on. . . IT'S ON BRO. . . And one more thing. . . We're going to DESTROY everyone in 2010. . . Cheers.
