Incidentally - although it's way too late to do anything about this now and everyone's doing the same thing so it doesn't matter - there's one issue that's been really bugging me.
The 30 point team is split 7 ways, or roughly an average of 4.29 per player. The anti-team's 13 goes 3 ways, or 4.33 per player. Slightly more, although of course it can't really be improved on. The thing is, a) team scoring has been reduced and b) there are almost no 4-6 pointers relative to previous rounds, and those there are are good players. This is sort of useful for making the main team as you can fill in with more decent players and still keep a good team or 2nd ace.
However, anti-teams have suddenly become a huge game of roulette. Before, you could find "low end" 4- or 5-pointers to fill out an anti-team; now it's a matter of trying to guess who will hurt you least. It's to the point where it might be better to take a probably over-priced player like Zero or Sea and fill in your other two spots with 2-pointers or bad 3-pointers, but I personally can't resist the lure of trying to avoid damage completely. Not that I'm very good at it.
I assume this will eventually correct itself - I don't have the time integral does to actually look at all the formulas - but this round it's been kind of a headache. I did do a quick count, though, of 4+ point players.
Your Player Doesn't Play: 1 Point (for 3-0 or 0-3 score)
So, if your team goes 3-0 or 0-3 if you have a player from that team that never sees play, he will still get you 1 point. Just noticed it too.
Since Hite got 0-3'd, and Leta didn't get to play, he's worth 1 point (due to "Your Player Doesn't Play: 1 Point") while everyone else on the team is worth -2 points. Meaning appearance points are back in for 4th match players?

4th set/inactive players get points in case of 3-0/0-3 score.
I believe it was introduced so that people wouldn't be picking players who never see play for their AT (even if he doesn't see play, he can get -1 point for you if his team gets 0-3'd).

Yeah, I see that, but my concern was every member of losing team being at -2, while 4th player was at a +1, for example Kal and STX, and Leta/Hite.
Though it shouldn't affect much, over all the 4th player will rarely be the same, so this will only change point scores by +/-1
You get 1 point if the proleague team your player is a member of wins a PL match. I think he is in Samsung Khan and as they won today people with him get a point
I must say I am a little irritated. -__- When I put together my team 4 days ago, I had read the point scoring system and noticed that they took out "Your Player's Team Wins: 1 Point" and the "Non-Ace Lineup Appearance: 1 Point". So I put together my team based on that. And now I find out today that both of those were added back with "Non-Ace Lineup Appearance: 1 Point" being worded in a different way. And now it is too late for me to change my line-up. Would I have made changes to my line-up if I knew that those scoring methods were still valid? You bet I would have. I do not think I skipped reading a portion of the rules and I do notice the last edit time of this topic and this topic which was probably made for the point scoring change. My point is, please don't be changing up rules at the last minute. Leave them be or at least give a fair warning days ahead instead of just a mere hours before teams become concrete for the week. I do believe some other people were also not aware of this rule change as seen from a couple of posts from this thread. I don't mean to be bashing or being too serious as this is just for fun. Just letting people aware of what happened. And thank you everyone here at Team Liquid for providing something like this. It makes watching PL more exciting and gives something to look forward to every week.

Uhh he was like 12-3 or something in his last 15 games before this round started, not sure why you thought it'd be smart to put such a hot streaker on an anti team
When/where (if at all) will we be able to read some stats on this round? Like the previous round, brief summary of each matchday with some talk about how many teams got screwed etc.

Off topic: Hooray! First post.
Why would you make a team 4 days before signups were over? Lineups weren't even released. And welcome to TL
on topic: damn you type-b....how could you lose a zvp against jangbi... at least stork performed.
Decent first day =D. Jangbi/Stork/Light = +15. type-b -2 but that was planned. ^_^. Didn't have KHAN as a team so I wasn't as lucky as some other people. Hoping SKT1 makes me some $$ in their game.

We never changed the rules... the: "Your Player's Team Wins" was always in there (never changed since the thread was made) and the "Non-Ace Lineup Appearance" is still missing currently.
The only lineup appearance point is only if your player is in the 4th set of the match and his team wins or loses 3-0 0-3, which is virtually impossible to predict anyway so I don't see how that'd change your team.

yeah i had Stork(captain) and KHAN last round. i wasnt planing on picking him up again, but him beating Flash in the osl convinced me to bet on him again. got me +5 points so far. although i never would have imagined that KHAN would go 3-0. i mean JangBi won, what the hell. not good for my liquibet, but good for my fantasy team.
Removed flash, picked up stork AND jaedong, now all that needs to happend is that upmagic needs to perform and I need to find someone to trade luxury for :S
Every one of my players that actually got to play has won their matches. Effort, Movie, Skyhigh, Jangbi and Light ftw! Just need Kwanro to play and win his and I'm set.
But @ SKT getting owned, I thought they were my only 100% win.
I laugh at everyone who put Hiya or Skyhigh on anti. Those two seem to be screwing people the most
But fuck yeah! #1 on Sparkyz fans on my first time doing FPL!! (even for a day...although tomorrow's games are gonna pretty much decide if I'm gonna stay there)

Who the hell would put someone who's 5-2 on their anti? I understand Skyhigh because he had hard matches this week so they could trade, but srsly, soo?
It was not easy to reach the 13 point AT minimum this round, and Skyhigh was actually one of the better picks, having played badly last round and going up against two good players this week.
I mean, are picks like Mind really that much better that you guys will continue laughing later on? The reality is that only a very select few lucky people are going to be saved a huge AT hit this round.

No it was a very bad choice. Potential ace player/starleague winner and the best CJ terran for only a few points. You knew that he was going to get wins and gain in trade value.
Stork was only 5 points. Anyone who didn't get him must have thought he was like 8 points.
My baller choice to put Violet on the AT was a good choice. Luxury on my main though cancelled it out. Have to see how they're going to perform later on.
And I can't believe so many people selected BeSt for their AT. He's going to start playing sooner or later and when he does he's going to stomp.

You can trade 1 player after each week @ AT, so depending on the lineups, people (or at least me)are going to get rid of him anyway.Everything depends on the lineups.

On another note, anti-team picks were definitely a lot harder this round compared to last round. There's no obvious picks where the player is clearly slumping or not sent out anymore. Every player that's four points and above seem pretty decent imo. Going to be hard to get a good anti-team score. Although I'm still interested in how much the new scoring will affect trade values, which will probably allow for some really good trades.

im on the same boat, seems like a decent -10 today, that makes -15 or so total, excellent! edit; might be more than -10 as RuBy got to ace aswell, im glad i have to leave for work now ;p
I have Zero, Yellow and Ruby on my team. On the other hand, Shine and Roro are in my anti, Stars lost and it looks like ACE lost their last chance to win (I think they will lose ace match ).
3 main team won and team win points make 15. KHAN 3-0'd, +6 = 21. 3 main team lost and the team lost, no points, -6 = 15.
I thought Really was a good AT pick, since eSTRO should have gone 3-0, and even if somebody else dropped a game Really would just win and that was okay... but no, it went to ace, and Really got sent. And won. So that's -11 there, 4.
And Roro (who was risky, but usually his ZvP is bad and free's is good) -5 = -1.
I must say I kinda like this new scoring. Makes it quite hardcore. The only change I would make would be getting rid of +1 point for team win. ACE players are automatically penalized (even though some of them do win their games) while some even terribad/inactive players get bonus because of their team carrying them. Not fair.

It looks like players tha played ace matches are bugged.
That brings me up to 2nd place. Woohoo!
This one's actually accurate - Ace match loss is currently 0 points change. So ace match loss is 2 for appearance + nothing, ace match win is 2 for appearance + 4 for win.

Damn, I was pleased with my season until Really came and fucked me in half! I have hope though, those on top can't stay untouched forever! This is like the Korean Inquisition of FPL or something, everyone is crashing and burning.
This round is hilarious, quite fun and interesting too. It is so different from what it was before with -points, this format does not forgive. 14 -16 Score: -2
My anti team of Ruby, Roro and Shine kicked ass first week and hite zergs failed. I think this round was by far the hardest to pick a good anti team.
I think anti-team needed a little bit better construction this time around. It's gonna come down less to skillful choices, and more about who gets lucky with their anti team.
Everyone basically had to pick a 6-7 point player on their anti team, be it Really, Leta, Luxury, whatever. If one of these players goes into a slump, everyone who chose them for their anti team versus another 6-7 point choice will be in great shape.
So it really depends on who it going to slump (or get a bad string of MUs) next.

Besides great who didn't play, everyone on my team and anti-team won. +31 -16 haha. Sorting the standings by anti-team points is pretty funny. Ruby, Roro, Shine, Mind, Hiya, skyhigh, eStro players... it's going to be a long round.
I'm actually against the 2 points a player gets for an ace because fantasy proleague should be entirely about how a player performes, showing up shouldn't be good enough. Also it neutralizes any positive gain I hope to get from Ruby in my anti-team as he's Ace's only ace player.

Which makes it rather luck-based.
QFT.
Anti-team is killing me
It was luck-based before just as much. I had my main team which was performing ok (over 100 points) and Effort on my AT who got me over -40 points just by himself. It was a risk I accounted for though, I expected him to go into slump which didn't happen and all blame is on me.
Right now it's just that people are picking really bad anti-teams. Seriously, Really? The guy is the only T on e-Stro capable of winning, he does win quite a bit, he gets to play quite often, he got a lot of points for FPL teams past 2 seasons. What were you thinking?
You might consider me a lucker though. I picked Violet for my AT as I knew his lucky streak has to end sooner or later. I also picked 2 rather new players as I knew that in PL experience matters (consider this an educated guess). Also, my main team consists of only 'mediocre' players (considering their trade value) as I haven't got anyone worth more than 6 points. Khan was a natural choice seeing how bad the main teams were doing at the end of R1 and how they started picking their game up.
FPL is not about luck (in most parts). It's all about making good educated guesses and willingness to take risks that might pay off in the future. Example: I have someone playing every single day, every day of PL can bring me points (tomorrow I can get +25 points if all of my guessing will go according to plan) and not just 1 or 2 days each week.
Tip: Put your fanboyism aside when making an FPL team. I did and from being very low last round I'm at the top this round just because I didn't pick players I like/choose players I dislike for AT. I just went all out solid but in most cases not outstanding players (ie. players who not neccessarily win everything but stayed rather consistent throughout last 2-3 years).

Skillful choices = picking people who probably won't play Luck = picking the worst 6-7 pointer, or worst two 5 pointers
Yeah, I'm not seeing it. Sucks that there's less 4-5pt choices, but the -2 for losses adds so much more skill to the anti-team.
There'll always be luck from upsets and weird ace decisions (yay killer!), but over the course of 7 weeks and lots of trading, skill should win out.
edit: I didn't do great last night either. Action, Upmagic, Anytime all lost. =/

I disagree. If we see the lineups before the games even begin, how is picking people who won't play a "skillful" choice?
There's as much luck to FPL as to any sports game. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose unexpectedly. Skill is chosing a team that can compensate for unexpected losses (i. e. no "fluke" players) in the long run and making the right trades at the right time.

At least Sea is worth a lot of points on your anti. Skyhigh isn't and is almost as good.
Actually too bad Skyhigh didn't lose to Fantasy. Would have made him so cheap...
And yeah getting so many points from ace is bad imo. If a player happens to go to ace and wins he gets insane points. If he wins and then loses in ace, he gets insane points too. It doesn't make sense and the points gained are very big.
If I had known I would have picked a different team. Should have read the rules better.
[edit] lol Hyuk for ace. I guess it doesn't mean how bad he will do, he will screw me over since he's on my anti team... And you can always win a ZvZ.
At least effort won his ace match. Still disappointed at the fact that he lost a game. This round of FPL is so luck based. Just a single win/lost could mean the difference of a few hundred spots just because everything is worth so much.

You only get +1 if a person on the LINEUP doesnt play i think, not the Team itself.
I dont think they used TosSGirl in the lineup. So you dont get that 1 point from them not playing.
Example: KT 3-0'd Oz, JD was in Set 4. Since he didnt get to play, JD gets a point because he was in the lineup. While someone like PerfectMan doesnt get anything since while he is on OZ, hes not on the lineup.

Shouldn't Hyuk's score be +2? Since all hes done is play an Ace match, which gives +2 for appearance then lost which doesn't yield any losses? or am I mistaken about something.
AT: no games for FBH, 2 games for Leta from which he just might win the other one and 0 games for Luxury when I trade Skyhigh for him.
T. Yellow plays Hiya and Movie, I expect him to go atleast 1-1 like Ruby who plays Nbs and JD. No games for BoxeR 1 game for Anytime, but he has still played well enough that I´m not going to panic trade him even though he is the only player getting me negative points in my Main team. He is playing Effort who has simply stunning ZvP imba record and who sure knows how to play on Match Point which doesn´t seem so bad map for zerg afterall. + Show Spoiler +
Check the stats for the map and you´ll see that so far 90% of winners have simply been so clearly "better" players.
Also if Anytime sticks to aggressive one base opening he might just have a good chance of winning.
Then comes the big trade: I have both Sea and Violet, Sea is my captain so Violet has to go. I was thinking about Calm who gets 2-0 ez against hyvaa and Piano or Mind who plays Piano and skyhigh. I´ll probably get Calm because it is possible that skyhigh wasn´t simply lucky to win those TvTs which it sure looked like because his play is horrible. Also I want another zerg.

Losing gets -2 I guess. I have -2 for Ànytime. Oh no wait, you are right he has only played one game so far and that was Ace.
Mind , roro, killer in anti for first week, could only trade killer of for sangho. Mind and roro will win at least 1 match this week so im still screwed.
For main i traded Barracks for hogil, he'll probably lose 1 and win 1. But only having type-b as zerg i had to get another zerg to trade him off. so i traded type-b for Spear. I hope he does as i expect.
Struggling with whether I should trade Really for Bisu. Really is good in TVT but not sure how he does against Leta. Also, Estro has chance of going 0:3 against STX thus keeping Really from playing his match.

Really was Sea's one loss in tvt last round, to give you an idea. Really is probably the most consistent player right now.

An ace match loss is worth 0 points. I noticed this and I don't think it's a great system. Surely a player losing twice in one day should lose the most points. Another -2 for losing the ace and no points changing for being selected or something. It doesn't feel right that a player can lose, be selected for ace and lose again and have 0 points change. 0-2 record, 0 points? Maybe I'm just a bitter RoRo anti-teamer.
seriously, even if he is sent as ace though, how is it that we get no points for him losing twice...thats kinda gay i think it should be changed. if he wins = massive negative points. if he loses = we get nothing?...
Yeah, a different scoring system for ace games should be considered for the next round. Being selected as an ace gives a bonus already, no reason not to punish ace losses. A total of +6 for a win and +2 for a loss seems weird. +6/+0 or even +5/-1 looks better to me. Negative scores, for me, are the most entertaining feature of the current rules and this would emphasize them even more.

Well, there is a reason not to punish ace losses. Punishing them with -2 would make giving 2 points for appearance futile as you could just say ace losser gets 0, ace winner gets 6. And my opinion is that a player should be rewarded for being selected as an ace no matter if he wins. I also think that the negative scores are a great feature and make the FPL more interesting but it would be simply pointless to reward negative points in ace matches.
Guys roro lost twice in one day against oz and he's on my anti team. I didnt get any points from him tho, while i got point for anytime who just lost a game against cj. is there any rule about that?
2 losses and no points is no fun, i agree. he's on my anti too.
Type-b is a disaster pick for this fpl, he sucked hardcore himself and now every trading option sucked also, Spear, Hogil, Piano, Yellow, they all lost.

You are so right Type-b makes me nosediving in the FPL ranking. I can not believe I spent point on him and not on mind, Jangbi (that in my point of view is recovering) or an CJE player.
By the way what are you thinking of Shine? I picked him but it seems that is individual league run dispense him of proleague play.

He's on my anti from week 1 it was either him or mind or best for me, but other 2 were strong ace possibilities looking at the maps. He's a good player and may cause a lot of troubles, he already scored 5 points.

ye shoulda have taken Soulkey or Nbs with type-b, i went for Spear aswell ;<
That two losses and 0 points lost is really sad..... That would mean Killer in round 1 would have actually won points when he lost all his ace matches ? I'm quite happy with the point count this season, except for that... A player failing hard and netting 2 losses, ace match appearance or not, should lose points.
Wow, if I had chosen Movie instead of Yarnc and completely ignored first week matchups. -_- Both twins are doing pretty bad pointwise right now though.

If they show up in the ace match, at worst, they're going to break even for the night.
i guess i just think that loosing an ace match should still be -1. otherwise (well,, This example comes more from last year. but) this might be unfair towards players like Leta who would frequently appear in ace matches, even though he lost a good percentage of them. and now roro maybe.

What I dont like about the current scoring system.
I have player A on my anti team. On the same day player A goes 0-2, losing his regular game and the ace match as well. According to the current system this will have no impact to his score, he will gain or lose 0 points, because he will -2 points for his regular loss, but +2 just because he played ace.
A player, going 0-2 on the same day, is clearly underperfoming, but this still has no reflection on the macro picture.
Its a big gamble to have a high price player on the anti. I picked Sea, and having in mind yesterdays match, my choice seems to be correct (I have a player, who lost twice in a single day, on my anti) but yet this doesnt get "rewarded".
My suggestion is just to have -2 for the ace match losses as well
should i like or hate free now, he's on my anti so he got me another -4 or so, but thanks to him Calm on my main got to play ace and earned more points :o

Really agree with this, having Really on my anti team lose twice the same day and break even in points just sucks. This makes you just focus on players not playing (or at least not playing ace matches) like before even tho your intentions with the new system of them gaining you points was so people could look for players who would lose and earn from it.

I think in the original rule change there was a -2 loss for ace match losses but Hot_Bid and Abydos changed it to 0.
Yeah, found that quote, not that I'm helping with anything just demonstrating that it used to be the way you're suggesting, I guess.
On December 01 2009 12:41 IntoTheWow wrote:
I like the anti team changes.
I don't like the ace point changes. With the new system, someone who aces but loses gains zero points from it, while winner takes all.
This makes aces from strong teams (bisu, flash, jaedong, effort) even better. They were considered safe picks in the previous seasons and they will be even safer with the changes.
Hot_Bid wrote:
This is a good point, I talked it over with Abydos and we have adjusted the scoring so that Ace Loss = 0 (instead of -2).
its actually just the other way around. The current system made the ace players like Calm,Really, Effort and Sea safer to have. I agree completely on the point that Bisu/Jd/Flash might become overpowered but usually you can afford to have only one of them on your team, while owning Calm and say Really at the same time is much more likely, thus the rule gets abused not by the super expensive players, but by the sort of midranked team ace players.
Just for the last week the 0-2 in the same day scenario happened like 5 times
The current system just made completely pointless to have Bisu/Jd/Flash/ZerO/EffOrt/Sea/Really/Calm/RorO on the anti. Not because its impossible for them to underperform, but because they are scoring that +2 from the Ace by default. The real issue with that is, limiting the possibilities for the anti team. By the start of the season I decided to go for one super high price guy and two lasser dudes, who wont get to play, but even thou my high price player is losing, the strategy doesnt seem to pay off.
Look it the other way around - if you have Really on your main and he starts sucking, you can trade him for a guy like Movie and thus avoid losing points. If you have Really or Sea on the anti thou, you can trade them for Flash... which is not really an option
Ofc the main reason my team is ranked just 600th is not that I picked the wrong strategy for the anti. Yes, I could've scored a couple of points from Sea, but the way it is right now, I didnt scored more and the ppl who are ahead of me, and have Really/RorO etc, havent score much less as well.
its really strange, cause some of the FPLs teams are just winning without doing a single thing
The way i see it, removing ace appearance, giving -1 for an ace loss and +4 is a good way to do it.
Example, Roro loses 0-2 in one day, if i managed to guess it right i'm getting rewarded +3 points on anti. He's -3. Roro goes 0-1 (just ace), he's -1 Roro goes 1-1, he's +3 or more with streak Roro goes 1-0 (just ace), he's +5 or more Roro goes 2-0, he's +9 or more with bonuses, which is less, than current guaranteed +11
It will allow strong guys on anti actually lose enough value to trade them off, instead of being stuck with these hot players with no good options. It allows operating with weak aces like Roro, Mind, potentially Shine, so they can gain anti points and lose value, while right now it isn't worth it. So basically it's what disciple wanted. Players like Zero, Free, Fantasy become interesting short term anti options, they will also be unable to score insane points just being sent on ace all the time, losing or not, like R1 3-pointer Zero, this is a possibility to dispose of a high pointer that is murdering your anti. A very risky and hard guess of 0-2 becomes rewarding. More depth and skill in your picks this way.
Skyhigh gotta start losing, having him on my anti has totally wrecked my R2 team. Also, why is free actually winning a few games? (Like that ace match he won) -_- antiteam ftl.

Question for all you smart folks out there who understand how the Adjusted Trade Value works.
I have Light on my main team, but he doesn't play at all this week. I'm thinking of trading him for Killer, who has what I hope is an easy win vs Secret. Assuming Light doesn't play in the ace match in either of MBCs games, is it likely I will be able to trade Killer back for Light next week.
Assuming Killer wins and Light doesn't play, will Killer overtake Light in Adjusted Trade Value? He is currently exactly 3 points underneath Light.
EDIT: Even better would be if someone could explain how the adjusted trade value is worked out, that way I could do all this myself instead of asking. I realize it has to do with Games Remaining and such, but I don't know how much more complicated it gets after that. Teach a man to fish.....
so my worst decision wasn't picking Type-B and Yarnc at start, nooooo!

Look at my team. Stupid stupid decisions
LOL your anti team is almost the same as mine.except i got fbh instead of hiya and i traded skyhigh for fantasy. but free and skyhigh have already raped my team and really losing three matches in a week also fucked me up.
trading oz for woongjin, hyvva for jangbi and best on my anti team for sangho.
I have a feeling this week will determine whether i do well or not in this season, i'm in 70th place right now and im in a liquidpoker $10 league, so we'll see how well my decisions work out.
Also it's freaking disgusting that i cant trade really for anyone and he isn't worth even close to the points he was at. I can't believe that just because he got an ace appearance and still 0-2'ed that that somehow makes him breakeven, that's retarded. He should AT LEAST lose the 2 points from losing a game. I would <3 having really on my anti team if it paid any kind of dividends that he sucks, it's just like "congrats you did good with your anti team but lol who cares"
I took a huge gamble putting him on my anti team and I guess because I didn't understand the rules it was a retarded thing to do...
I'm kicking myself for not trading Mind for Leta last week. I figured they had equally good prospects, but Leta came out on top. Now this week Leta has an easy matchup and Mind got screwed. Oh well, welcome to the anti-team Park Sung Gyoon.
my lineups aren't looking good this coming week but i don't think i can make any trades either :/ only thing i might think about is trading leta for stork. right now i only have one toss, so stork might add some flexibility down the line, while having about the same probability to ace as leta.
leta only has one game this week, a game he should win against spear, but it seems likely that hite will get 3-0'ed and he will not even be able to play.
stork's games are more of a tossup, 1 vs gosl[flying] which he has an edge in, and then a match against zero on matchpoint that will really be a tossup, but he has a decent chance to come out as ace in either match.

Indeed, huzzah ^_^
I wonder if I can trade back for STX at some point though...
My anti-team screws me... What was I thinking when I picked Violet AND free... My anti-team has a great potential of scoring more points than my normal team this week... at least getting bisu for jaedong seems to pay off.

It sucks because Canata would have gotten a 2 point bonus for winning that game. Luckily for me it enabled Bisu to win ace, and now Bisu can get +2 for a streak if he beats Reach.
At least Canata's still got another game this week (a TvT against Xellos) which he has a good chance of winning.
An horrid week for my FPL, with HiyA winning in my anti, Action, Movie, SkyHigh losing versus opponents largely in their reach :/ Hopefully Effort and Stork counterbalance it a little bit. Still, -85 ranks today -_-'

Aw man it looks like I misunderstood how trading value worked. I just read about the details now.

I made a gamble by taking Action cause he had two quite easy games this week, but him losing/not playing, HiyA winning in anti, and Movie/SkyHigh not performing were quite the downfall :'( Stork winning wasn't even a lifesaver since everybody has him.
I really hope they're gonna own next week, else I'll probably drop out of the top100 again
I have another stupid question to ask. I checked a lot of message but still I can not find where you can see the following week players and teams schedule other than in the calendar. Can you tell me where to go?
I'm so glad I made those trades last week. All of them worked out as planned, especially Roro for Mind AT.
Roro value - 37.42 Mind value - 24.78
Also, I'm not sure what the issue is, but I'm able to trade Bisu back for Jaedong now. They have the same value, so says my trading tab. I was hoping to do so earlier, but Jaedong was .01 higher last week...

I'm trying to think of a good trade for Movie, however I don't find any other player close to him to be near his skill level. Now unless he pulls off a crazy rush, he's going to get thrashed by Jaedong *my current team captain) I can trade for light, but even if Light wins both his games I'm not sure his point value will equal movies. Goddammit, I don't what to do, this is like the no-win scenario from Startrek.

Ya maybe next season they'll add the option to bench players for a game. Now that players can give you negative points, benching would take some skill (pretty big risk, you're basically saying you think they have less than 1/3 chance to win).
Gosh, this weak is tough and trade is a must do due to my lineup! I had to trade Hwasing because him playing against Leta is just a losing scenario! (especialy if you consider that I also have Leta in my team). The good news is I also finaly trade typeB, who cost me at least 16 points (wanted to put Jangbi or Violet originaly), for a no name terran from MBC. Hope to leeck more point than from Hite.
For the streak scoring, do you have to have had the player for all the games of the streak, or just the one where he reaches 3/6/9? ex., if someone has won 2 games, and I didn't have him, then I trade him and he wins the third game, do I get the streak bonus?
You just need to own him the moment he completes the 3/6/9 win streak. So if you have to choose between to similarly good players, take the one who is on a 2 win streak already.

M'kay, thanks.
Anti-teaming trading is hard work. I'm gonna hope that Jangbi can beat Hyun, since I got him on my antiteam and traded away free...
Anyone got a good trade for type-b? I can't think of anyone worth trading him for but I need to get rid of him soon cause he is going against Calm in a zvz.
There was an error with FPL. I got -2 on Hyun (who I traded) when I should have gotten -2 for Light. Also, I got -1 on MBCGame Hero after I traded it for SKT.

Please fix errors! (please)\
EDIT: On a side note Light raped my fpl tonight.
I'm having problems too. I'm sorry if you guys didn't update it yet, but han lost and hes on my anti and I didn't get the +2 from him.

lol fpl is very luck based. if you have 2000 people competing at least one of them is gonna get lucky 3 or 4 times in a row.
especially with this new format :X considering starcraft is extremely difficult to predict (top liquibetters have only 65% accuracy, top players only have like 65-70% win rate etc...)

are we really saying he's just someone that "got lucky" the only three times he's played?

if you consider statistics, yes, it's very possible
there are dozens of people who've finished highly in multiple FPLs. of course one of them is going to stand a little higher above the rest.
for example, there's one player who finished
#38 #3 #18
an average rank of about 19.6
compared to dalailamer:
S2: 170/950 S3: 5/1500 S4: 3/1850
average rank of 59.3
my point is: it's hardly an improbability. It's impressive, definitely, and I'm not taking anything away from that, all I'm saying is that it's to be expected from such a huge field of thousands of people participating
Because of too much drinking in the last few days, I completely forgot about changing my team and now I wont be able to build up from that #61 rank from last week

That's all I was saying, that you can't boil it all down to luck, which is what your first post was implying, when you said "If you have 2000 people competing at least one of them is gonna get lucky 3 or 4 times in a row." That's leaving very little credit toward someone picking well or making good trades.
Fuck man. This week has gone really bad for me so far. I had such a good feeling when I traded for Light and Best and then they both go and fucking lose.
Trade are really killing me! I trade Hwasing for Best thinking that with two games against protos he will win. I really hesitated with Jangbi instead of Best and should have made the latter call.
KT doesn't send Flash for ace, and hite still loses. There's a bunch of missing points. You'd figure that one way or the other, having Flash and hite, points would be had if it went to ace!
Then Bisu loses to Frozean (which really there's no explanation for - he's not in any leagues). I guess I should have traded him for Jaedong this week after all. But Jaedong was in both leagues, and both of Bisu's games looked like easy wins compared to Jaedong having to face Movie and Sea.
I also thought Best --> FBH antiteam would be great this week. It still has the potential for trade gain, but it's going to be a lot less than anticipated with khan winning the first game this week and SKT and Best losing. Alas, it seems this round was not meant to be.
On December 27 2009 18:16 Magic84 wrote: The leader's doing very well without any trades, and he has Sea on anti Fourth place also didn't trade and he still has Yarnc...
Movie -> Light trade - not good, but the week isn't over Jangbi -> Best - damn -8 Hesitated on Movie -> Kal last week - missed +12 points
God damn it. At least JD, Leta, Stork trio consistently keeping me alive.
I can't believe I picked Yarnc over Movie for my initial team. -_- There's nobody that I can trade him with.
so it would appear that trading Bisu for Jaedong was nice. Unfortunate that Calm lost and SKT went 1-3 though. Blargh. Oh well, only down 3 ranks, hoping SKT and Calm/hero deliver later this week...
Trading Frozean for Bogus was bull though, who'd've thought he'd beat Bisu lol >_>
Roro with another +5 today. He has sick value and points gained for a 5-3 (0-2 in ace) player. That was a predictable free win, and he's a big time anti-team murderer. There isn't a solid option to get rid of him.
It was so close to almost perfect day for FPL. I got points already from victories of Light, Effort and Hydra. When Movie vs M18M was just about to start I had to go one thing. Of course I thought that Movie will win ez. I was already happy for points of Movie's victory and CJ winning 3-1. When I got back and saw final results I was surprised.
It was still rather good day, +10 points total. I would have got +18 points total if Movie would have won. (If I calculated correctly)
I might have missed him in my search, but is Much on the list of players to add now that he's playing for Air Force (twice this week). Not sure if I would trade for him, but its a possibility.
On December 31 2009 19:16 Garnet wrote: Please update Secret's 4 points win vs Violet, I can't trade him for anything now... this is the 4th time I ask this.
Ok, hopefully this is fixed, his win was attributed to someone else. Next time actually use the name he's listed under, it'll speed things up.
Much will be added if HB tells me what his trade value should be in time (at least 24 hrs before the matches start)
HB vetoed it since a) there's not enough trading time left for it to be fair to everyone and b) we have no idea what his value should be since he hasn't played in ages. These 2 matches should give us a Much better idea. :p
Im so happy i traded HoGiL for Action. Action is going to get roflstomped by SkyHigh Next week. who knew he was going to get roflstomped in todays ace :O
Just a question, is there a way to see what everyones point value was at the beginning of the season? Not sure exactly which column represents that information.

Column labeled as "$" is what you're looking for. It's player value before the round started.
By the way, SonuvBob, have you thought about removing the +1 point for team win for players who didn't play in the next round? It would make much more sense I believe and picking 0 pointers from a good team would no longer be a good idea.
wait a minute kOre; wouldn't a better main team have kal > jaedong since he is 3 points less and almost as expensive? you could also use roro instead of calm since calm was more expensive than him and have even more points left over for more expensive players
I'd like to report a display bug in the "Detailed Team" view. If you sell a player and later buy him back, he isn't properly registered as back on the team and his points aren't displayed in that weekly scoring breakdown table. My team looks like it has only 4 players because of this.
after everything going wrong for the first week or so it sure is hard to get back in this, all the downward trading and suddenly i realise most of my players tradevalues are 1-2 ;<
having Hite the whole time doesn't help though, 5 weeks gone soon and they've earned -1.
Despite spending over half my points on Flash and KT I'm doing pretty well thanks to good trades(which were oddly the reason why I didn't get top 10 last season, stupid Zero for Hyuk trade grrrr).
I think anti-teams should go something like +4 for losing but -2 for winning. I feel right now it's still probably safer going for the player that doesn't play, plus it gives it a bigger roll in gaining points.

You gotta take into consideration that my post was prior to the STX and WeMade FOX game that took place last night.
lol! Minus one point today... And i jumped from #150 to #134 up. WTF happened? Did everyones darling as well lose? Who fucked your antis? ^^ (for me it was only JD losing and +1 point for kwanro)
Sucks that I traded Upmagic for Hwasin end of week 1 and got around +8 points from that trade and then traded Hwasin away at end of week 2, but now my Up for hwasin trade is at -7 :<
What, Hite scoring positive points? That's a dream come true, and it brings me to my season's high of #123. My goal of finishing in the top 100 is still reachable.
That was an AWFUL week, lost 50 places from 70 to 120. It could have gone SO MUCH better if only Movie won, and Effort/stork won the (potential for effort) ace match
Still, trading in fantasy and best seeing how cheap they were was a good choice.
Seriously, CJ should start owning again, I want to go back in the top100 !
But it seems to have been a horrid week for everybody, I was expecting to drop a lot more.
Things gone wrong :
1) Yarnc WINNING ? 2) Movie losing ! NO EXCUSE 3) Since Movie lost, no ace match for EffOrt/Movie, AND CJ losing again. 4) Stork losing (even against Flash, if one can beat him as far as TvP goes, I believe in Stork and BeSt !) 5) Mind winning (well, once in a while is ok he's not bad)
Things gone right :
Fantasy/BeSt/Kwanro winning. My 2nd week top13 seems soooooo far away :'(
whats wrong with jaedong's trade value? Why is it so low? I remember his trade value being higher than Bisu's before last week, Bisu didn't play, Jaedong went 1-1, I don't get why they are suddenly 10 points apart?
On January 07 2010 10:47 Kouda wrote: Jangbi for JD. Rooofl. Epic trade doods.
I don't think it's quite as easy of a trade as it looks.
Assuming both of them get sent out in week 7 against average opponents, Oz should win 1/2 and Khan 2/3. Jaedong has to play Kal and Jangbi is against Shine/Ruby. Kal isn't bad, Jangbi is on a 6 game PvZ streak, and Ruby is on a 6 game losing streak. Looking pretty good for Jangbi, but let's be pessimistic.
Jangbi 50% chance to win games: 2 team points 3 points expected value from 3 matches (EV of 50% chance to win is 1 point) 1.5 ace points (3 matches * 50% chance of ace match * 25% chance to be sent * 4 points (average with 50% chance to win it))
Jaedong 66% chance to win games: 1 team point 4 points expected value from 2 matches (EV of 66% chance to win is 2 points) 1.5 ace points (2 matches * 33% chance of ace match * 50% chance to be sent (he's only been sent 1 of 3 this round, but come on it's Jaedong) * 4.6 points (66%))
Expected value of both players is equivalent: 6.5 points. Trading costs you a point as well. Jangbi is also the higher variance play since he has more opportunities to win/lose. I suppose if you're sitting in the top 10 with Jangbi and want a safer bet, the trade is good, but if you really need to squeeze out some final points, Jangbi is the way to go.
I can't believe how long this ended up being. I'm such a nerd.

I'm in a bit of a dilemma that others here might also share. My problem is whether or not I should trade off stork.
Now, stork is great, and I'd bet on him to win a match almost against any other player right now except Flash. The only problem is that he isn't gonna be sent out for the match against ACE (loool January doesn't think they need stork to beat ACE), so his trade value is somewhat inflated with respect to his point-generating potential.
The people I can trade stork for are:
Bisu Really Violet Roro Leta Sea Effort Jangbi Jaedong
and everybody else down from there is a scrub compared to Stork (Zero is not a possibility because I have him on my anti-team as a result of a series of unfortunate trades).
Bisu is playing like crap so I don't want him. Really has difficult opponents next week (fantasy and flash) so he's a no go. Violet is playing against Action and Crazy-Hydra, ez opponents but his PvZ is his worst MU and if the games ever go to the ace matchup he won't ever be sent out. Roro isn't that great and he has to play fbh, who sucks but is good TvZ. Leta has only two matches left (hite has played 9) and he has to play Effort this week. No good. Sea is like stork, only being sent out for one game this week. Effort is playing Leta. Jangbi is playing against Shine and Ruby. He'll probably beat Ruby (who sucks TvP), but might lose to Shine. Jaedong only has two games left, one of them is this week against Kal, so it's not a sure win.
As I see it, if I want to try to get more points, trading away Jangbi for Stork is my best option. It'll all hinge on whether or not he'll beat Shine. But it's a gamble, so if I want to be safe, Stork is better since he'll probably beat Pure this week (and might be sent out for ace).
I expect to drop out of the top 10 tonight because I will be gaining comparatively few points. 815 or Odin on anti was good, and I also resisted the JB for JD trade. Really, I'm not sure Jaedong can take down Kal at the moment and Jangbi's being hell of reliable.
Man picked one of the worst anti teams ever and my trades involving At get me in more deep shit, even though my actual team is very solid (besides sparkyz) Guess I know what to do for next time.
Shine & RuBy both on my anti and both lost, Mind on my main aswell, good day for me and i finally made my way to top1000 after the horrific start, have to be happy about something ;p
Wow this is the second time I've traded STX away in FPL and that it's killed me (the first time was when I traded them in R5 of last season when they went 10-1). Basically I'd be in 16th or 17th right now if I didn't trade STX for SKT. But it's not as bad as trading STX for Oz last time lol...
meh getting really on anti just becouse of his match vs flash, which of course is on my main, wasn't the best idea:/ at least flying and fantasy trades actually paid off for now.
This week I traded Really for Violet on my team and then put Really on my anti... Flying is also on my anti... So estro vs KT just gave -15... Not even fantasy's performance can make up for this -.-
I just can't believe how shitty Violet and HoeJJa played. And how the hell could Really beat Flash!? Something went terribly wrong today -.-

Having two team aces in your anti, you're asking for it really. My anti has yarnc sangho and shine. (after having leta in -.- i managed to salvage it :p)
well picking anti was really hard this season, and free had to be in it. as for really, comon, he had games vs flash and fantasy, and that was the only reason i traded him in
terrible season but still watching PL is so much better when there are guys from your roster playing^^
I'm quite satisfied with my balanced team. I'm around top 50 in both team score, anti-team score, trade gain, number of trades (lol) and total score. Today's -4 didn't hurt too much either. I'm just lacking a little something to push me into top 10.

Huh. I just realized this, but the ranking doesn't correspond to the points. As in, there are people ranked higher than other people who have more points. So... How are the rankings determined?
EDIT: There are a lot of inconsistencies. What am I missing here?

Luxury for Yellow after week 1? As in a player that cost 6 for a player that cost 0?
Yeah, it was a bad call. But seemed a cool gambit at the time since Yellow had 2 games against fairly easy opponents while Luxury wasn't being put up in lineups. Yellow failed however Was a great risk but if it would work it would be absolutely awesome move since very few people would have him on the MT which could kick me forward nicely
An update before the last playday would be much appreciated :p
Just to see how much ranks there is to win (or lose), considering I've got Bisu/BeSt/Fantasy xD And Horang anti. BeSt, you HAVE to win that. PvP, no right to lose. (and an ace match would be nice !) plz plz plz i've been a good boy santa ;p
I'd be happy to see an update too, as I can't really see a way that I wouldn't be in shooting distance of top 10 if things go well for STX and Leta. It's such a big gamble tonight.
Going all-in with Hite trades was correct it seems. That should be 24 or so points for me today. Will that be enough to crack top 25?
I guess Fantasy Winners' League signups are gonna be up very soon, as the first matches are on sunday already. They just needed to wait for today's results for player prices.
it amazes me to see platypus win without making even a single trade.the guy has fucking amazing luck.another person who has tremendous luck is dalailamer who finished in the top 10 for the third consecutive time.i hope i have some luck in wl. congratz to the winner btw.
Average points per week : ~31, this week : 6???? Kwanro won+streak, woongjin won too, best didnt play, hyun, effort, bisu, fantasy lost marches they shouldnt have lost, and on anti horang2 didnt play despite lineup entry but his team won 3-0.
Last week : 80, this week, i finish at ~150, total fail week.
Anyway thanks this whole fpl thingy is very enjoyable, i wonder how the new format will look like for winners league :p
and gratz jadefist, i couldnt manage to beat you at the last moment on grade gains #2.
So I was 42nd last night, hogil and leta and flash and hite did pretty well, so I started doing the math to see if I could get top ten. I got through the top ten, decided I wasn't going to make it but that it would be close, and planned to check back later.
Fuck, I still suck at anti-teams. Roro->(5)Really->(6)Flash = -17 points in trades, not to mention how well Roro did all season, FML. Still top 50 3rd season in a row
I can't understand why trading HoGil for Yarnc got me +1 more point. They both won their game and are on the same team. I should've got -1 for the trade tax if anything.

Yeah, grats. You pulled ahead as 1st place Zerg in the 11th hour.
I finished #411 this time, which I think is my best yet. If I hadn't fucked up my anti-team so much in the beginning, I would have done pretty well. I'm aiming for top 200 next round.
Well, I'm pretty happy; #429 is a VAST improvement over my past efforts in FPL. Roro and Shine on my anti-team didn't exactly help, though, so I think with some luck I could do better in the future...maybe.
Congrats to the winner, though, and to everyone else in 428th-1st positions!
