I agree, Dashi and Sanpao are hilarious and their analysis is pretty good too.

So I'm not the only one here who watches their commentaries. I find them both much better than the English commentators, except Chill. But then again, I like scathing commentaries where they really say their opinions. Part of the reason why I get annoyed at Tasteless. He tries too hard to be neutral.

I got into Starcraft Korean pro Gaming thanks to those guys on sc2gg. Many thx to Cholera, Diggity, Moletrap and Rise (triple commentaries are very entertaining). and Nuke is humorous as always : D

I agree partially. Now, they are obviously extremely good sc players and their analysis are better than most other commentators, but sometimes they are not good as "filling gaps" - that is, say thing when there isn't too much going on. So sometimes it seems a little bit odd, if not boring.

That being said, I'd still think they are 10 times better than SC2GG D- commentators.

My personal favorite is Rise, for a few reasons. He combines a good balance of humor + commentary, and every time I hear him cast, I really get a sense of his enthusiasm for SC. Klaz is probably the most idiosyncratic of the casters.

To be honest, I find the "best commentators" to be those who understand the game best.

If you are lucky you'll find some of the top foreigners commentating on some matches here.

For those who do it on a regular basis I would say Chill and Artosis.

There's a reason why I got excited watching the WCFT Tourney GOM hosted and it's because of Rotterdam and ToD. They made that Event what it was, with their deep understanding of what was happening.

They were pretty much right on the ball.

The ToT stream is another one to watch out for, considering Infernal and some of the other ToT players like Aerials sometimes comment the games.

Day[9] can preety safely be considered the best commentator in the SC community, surpassing even his own brother Tasteless. He combines a deep and thorough understanding of the game with witty humour and a respectable demeanour (with the Chill vs Combat-ex showmatch being a strong exception, as he was not commentating it seriously). Overall, he seems naturally talented at commentary and I am sad to see that he is unable to commentate more frequently.

Chill and Artosis, as everbody knows, have excellent knowledge of the game, knowing many of the technical intricacies that others do not. However, as far as commentary is concerned, they are both horrible on their own. They have an exceptionally dry tone, which makes their solo commentaries sound like teachings of an old-fashioned university teacher. This particularly comes off suprising as far as Chill is concerned, considering he is a bit of a joker on the TL forums. However, the important words to note are on their own. When added into dual or triple commentaries, both of them tend to shine since their deep knowledge of the game combines well with the showmanship of others.

As for the SC2GG commentators. While most of them do not have the deep technical knowledge of the TL commentators, most of them do have a preety strong showmanship and community aspects. Unsuprisingly, the best ones are the senior casters:

- Diggity has an excellent casting voice and a professional demeanour, which are suprising qualities for a casual caster.
- Rise and Moletrap are jokers themselves, bringing humour in their casts (although, like Chill and Artosis, they are not very good on their own...ironically, for the exact opposite reasons).
- Cholera brings a lot of infectious enthusiasm into his commentaries and is also responsible for creating and popularising some of the terms (Hyuking, Cholera build) and progamer nicknames (Terminator Terran, Pterodactyl Toss).
- Klazart (now retired) was more familiar in the SC community for his weak game knowledge (he is particularly notorious for describing Forge FE opening as the Bisu Build). However, he also had a rich vocabulary and his enthusiasm for the game also tended to be infectious. He was also the first person to provide english commentaries of Korean games on a regular basis and inspired many other commentators (including all of the above SC2GG commentators) to take the mantle themselves, hence why some call him the "Godfather of commentators".
- NukeTheStars, like Day[9], also has a polite demeanour and some incredibly witty humour. He also makes excellent audio intros, which are a combination of commercial and his own work However, his community projects (such as prediction/hype videos) are even better then his commentaries.
- RanshinDA is the weakest of the SC2GG commentators, his qualities being neither here nor there. However, since he is very casual in his castings, this makes his commentaries appealing to relative newcomers.

Lastly, I would also like to talk about SDM. It is true that he does not have particularly strong commentary skills. However, having been involved with the StarCraft e-Sports scene since it`s very humble beginnings, his knowledge of it is unsurpassed even by many in Korea itself, let alone outside of it. Besides which, Tasteless`s good game knowledge and humour (although which tends to be very cheesy at times) are valuable in helping SDM during their casts. So while he is not a particularly good commentator, I think the SC community is blessed to have him regardless.

Aww, you quote me in your sig but you don't include me in the poll ... I'm hurt :'(
I realise that the poll would end up as a landslide victory in my favour ... But ... Isn't that what democracy is about?
