Hey fellow longboarding tl'ers I've been thinking of learning how to skate a longboard.
I skated regular skateboards since I can remember, but I have no knowledge about longboards at all.

So I got a question that you guys can hopefully answer.

What board length is good for a beginner and a person who will mainly use it just to cruise?

Standard longboard length isn't hard to learn at all ;-)

I saw this guy at campus skating a longboard. Looks pretty cool and easier to balance than a skateboard because of the length and stability. His board was close to the ground and kinda curved up at the ends but the wheels were on the side of the board instead of the bottom. I don't think it would be that hard, but I dunno.

If your riding a board it better be standard.Anything else is .....mehhhhh.

I always was a fan of Fuct back in the day (92-98) when i did most of my skating.I quickly realized after my 3rd Fuct board that Blanks were where its at as far as price/durability.

I actually got my Nickname because of a Fuct T-shirt my sophomore year in High school.

It's not very long, but a Stingray has a really old school shape with a slight fin. I only say check that out because in terms of portability, full sized longboards suck. I use my 10" wide Z-Flex pool shredding board more than anything else just because its the most versatile on the street and in the pools.

It's not hard at all either. You just have less mobility than a traditional deck that you'll be used to. Just go for an extra wide deck with a tail and it can practically simulate the feeling without losing the versatility.
