I AM SO PISSED! I have been trying to improve to c- for the past 3-4 months or so. I HATE LOSING! I want to be c- just to reach one step higher to my real goal to be at least B or even A rank if possible, someday. But for now I want to see if i can reach c- by the end of this season. But why!?!? why can't i reach it, i hit D+ like in the beginning of last season easily. and for some reason now it seems alot of D ranks are improving, and i can't reach c- . DAMN IT ALL! I feel like screaming or yelling or punching my pillow when i lose. I really want to improve, i try to see which bos counter what, if my timings were spot on, if my macro, micro, unit position, unit composition, and multitasking were good in all the games i play. I try to analyze what i do wrong, but i either lose in these 3 main ways.
1. STUPID GOD DAMN CHEESE
2. Misclick Micro mistake cost me game/BO loss
3. Scouting/Gamesense/macro/unit positioning(like def against vulture raids)

i try to remember these mistakes and try to not do them but one way or another, it still happens damn it. I try to think i am confident, that I can win. But I just miserably lose and I get so fuckn pissed!

So in short, please anyone, tell me how i can use my time most effectively so i dont think im just mass gaming that doesn't help much, until i actually get the bos right or timings right and etc. tell me how i can improve, what steps i need to take, what kind of mindsets i need to have, how i can practice like against comps to practice bos or w/e.

PLEASE HELP!

just get a solid build down. D+ is relatively easy and most players play by flow. If wins is all you want then I suggest you do as I say and just nail down a strong build.

If you want to get better overall, play play play. Even if you lose alot. As long as you have many games under your belt you'll be better off.

I guess taking a mindset as ICCup games being practice instead of serious could allow to you focus on certain areas of your game at a time instead of trying to improve everything at once. The latter being rather difficult to do at times.

It sounds like you have an idea of what you're doing wrong and what you need to change, but you get caught up in the game and end up forgetting or whatever. Sticky notes can help with this, stick things to your monitor like *remember that gay ass spot people run vults through*

To improve macro, there's a nice trick I used to use when my macro was really bad... Using the sc sound utility (available on the blizzard website). Change unit production sounds so that when the spawn, instead of the standard sounds, you get something that really stands out to you and says "Hey dumb shit! It's time to fucking macro!"

Try to get someone who's significantly better than you to go over your replays with you and perhaps play a few games with you. I never had this, and I really wish I did. I strongly believe I would have progressed much faster with some actual guidance instead of trying to teach myself.

When watching your own replays, don't just watch yourself and think "Bad macro here, bad micro here" I'd suggest listening to Day[9]'s rant about the imaginary player and building triggers. He mentions watching replays in order to figure out what your opponent has at what time. This way you have a better idea of what to expect from your opponent (and not just yourself) while actually playing.

You need more time.

Just play more, you'll get better.

Take a break and some time off starcraft.

Or observe from the sideline like I do a lot when Im bored and cant actually be bothered playing by joining an obs game and hopefully watching a good player. Seems like you're just trying too hard. You cannot force yourself to improve, things happen better when they come naturally, seems like you might be playing too much and you get fustrated (from your attitude in your post). You will often reach a point in time where you think you aren't improving because your stats say so, just ignore the stats, play for the reason you first started playing this game for (in other words play for the love of the game).

Sometimes we get so caught up in improving/doing something we forget what we started out for and it kinda becomes meaningless and we lose our way. Just remember the first time you played and were amazed by this game, then play a game, win or lose, it will feel so much different.

One aspect of improving is you have to accept there are people that are going to be better than you so you must be willing to accept defeat and use it to advance your skills.

For the actual improving I just suggest reading guides, watching replays CAREFULLY, get a replay with a specific build or match up you wanna learn, turn off the other player's view and watch EVERYTHING the guy you wanna imitate does. Then you can write down a rough estimate of the build/note common timings across various reps or something like that and then either go straight online and try to pwn some noob with it or play it against comps a few times to iron out the timings and get a little bit familiar with it and then try it online. The BIGGEST weaknesses of all D/D+ players is the lack of understanding behind a build and the actual build itself, replays are your friend ;D.

Well I've put my sc improvement on hold for now, sc2 on the way, uni, not much point etc.....play for the love and enjoyment and as corny as it sounds you'll never lose ;P

Yeah I was like that before, then I realized that it was a game lol. I find I play better anyway when I play for fun, not points. Take a little break and play another game and go back to sc I guess. Lol and yeah your not alone with losing, like 3 days ago I just broke a 19/20 games loss streak -.-

Consider this:

A C+ rank or above could beat any true D+ player almost 100% of the time without arbiters, reavers, dark templar, high templar or carriers.

If you are losing close games due to micro or shit like vulture raids at the D+ level, it is DEFINITELY because your fundamentals are shit.

You are probably trying to do too much. You are overthinking, overreacting and following multiple tech trees too quickly. This is also indicated by the fact that you care so much when you lose.

You need to step out of the mindframe that this game has to be so difficult.

If you want to get B level you will have to master the entire tech tree yes, but trying to do it all at once will not work.

Work on the basics, learn when it's safe to expand, scout his expansions, defend gay vulture shit with pylon walls, learn to build pylons in appropriate places before you need gates so your macro doesn't suffer.

You can be making probably almost twice the amount of actual fighting units that you currently are by the time the first important battle takes place. Try doing that. Just make a fuckton of units, control them properly and don't get owned by harassment or his outexpanding you. Simple instructions.

If you really want more help PM me, I can easily get you to C- within a week if you have the time to play enough.

sometimes, playing other races help too. In my case, I was stuck at B- for 3 seasons in a row. I got pissed off, thinking protoss wasn't the race i should be playing.

I knew a thing or two about playing zerg or terran because i watched kor VOD's or watched my friends play. I just mass gamed with zerg and terran on iccup. after that, you'll understand the game a lot better.

First, you'll understand at what timings terran or zerg will not come out, which translates to the timings you can either do a timing attack or expand or stop producing units and add gateways. you'll start to do abusive plays that you've experienced from the other side.

or get new equipment :D

You need to realize that B and A ranks in iCCup are synonymous to B-team players.

Let me break this down in skateboarding terms if you ever skateboarded before:

I can beat you in S-K-A-T-E every time because I don't even need to know all the tricks because I have all the basic ones down so well.

If you are losing close games due to micro or shit like vulture raids at the D+ level, it is DEFINITELY because your fundamentals are shit.

If you fuck up a trick because your toe slipped or your speed was off it's because you haven't learned how to ride the board correctly to do the trick.

You are probably trying to do too much. You are overthinking, overreacting and following multiple tech trees too quickly. This is also indicated by the fact that you care so much when you lose.

When you learn tricks, you don't go out as a complete noob and go; "today I'm going to practice ollies, kickflips, heelflips, grinds, boardslides, manuals, etc. etc." You must pick 1 thing and master it to hell. Then move on to the next trick (whilst throwing in the old tricks for practice here and there along the way).

(but caring about losing doesn't mean that imo. It shows passion or emotion[anger]. The idea is to understand why it makes you angry though and prevent that from happening.) Generally I get mad when I lose at something because either A) I had the game in the bag but blew it cause I got lazy, B) some kind of luck or imbalance fucked me over, C) I totally make a mistake early on against a worse player but the effect is cumulative and unrecoverable [but being the stubborn ass I am continue on anyways for 20 minutes and lose].

You need to step out of the mindframe that this game has to be so difficult.

You need to realize that doing a trick is simple, you just gotta practice it and have the courage and timing to execute it properly.

If you want to get B level you will have to master the entire tech tree yes, but trying to do it all at once will not work.

If you wanna be a pro skater then you're gonna have to master all the tricks at some point and have a pretty big skill set to be able to compete with other pros. They may kill you with the simple precision and ease of basic tricks ollies,shuvits,180°'s :: Manner pylons, Proxy gates, 4pools and you won't even get to the point to break out your 360 hardflip down a 8 stair, because they are gonna 'SKATE' you before you have a chance.

Work on the basics, learn when it's safe to expand, scout his expansions, defend gay vulture shit with pylon walls, learn to build pylons in appropriate places before you need gates so your macro doesn't suffer.

Learn how to peddle, when to peddle, when to slow down/speed up, when to bail out of a trick, where to skate, when to skate, etc.

In other words don't try to be a one trick pony because if it fails then you are worthless.

If you really want more help PM me, I can easily get you to C- within a week if you have the time to play enough.
