haha this was funny, but no that kid didn't deserve to faceplant.
|
I would've been annoyed at the kid too but he didn't deserve that
|
What a fucking dick that tuba player was...I thought the kid just tripped at first.
Sure the kid was being disrespectful but he was young enough that he wouldn't really understand anyway. Yeah, I would have been pretty damn pissed if that guy was in my band.

it doesn't surprise me that it's a tuba player, douchebags all of em

The only thing I can assume is that the tuba player is somehow related to that little kid, justifying him tripping him somewhat. I can't possibly see someones parent allowing a random guy to intentionally harm his/her child w/out whooping some ass.
If it was me and that was my kid, I wouldn't even wait till they were finished to beat the shit out of that tuba player.
|
Kids are tough as hell but that is no excuse to do that =\ bad move old fat kid.
|
hm thats pretty uncool =[
|
that kid was like 4...while funny, the fat kid should have been openly beaten by several people.
|
looks like a set up
I mean the trip was perfectly in time with the music, and the kid was wearing a huge jacket... coincidence?
|
As a member of a marching band I can testify that tuba players are fucking assholes.
Trombone players are awesome, as well as trumpet players (who are conceited, but in a good way).
Saxophone players are socially retarded.
|
HAHHAHAHHA WHAT A FUCKING NOOB ASS KID PWNEDDDDDDDDDDDDD
|
As a member of a jazz orchestra I can testify tuba players essentially do not exist. So just ignore him, he looks fat anyway. Little kids tripping is always funny, but tripping little kids isn't.

yes... that's a coincidence... the chances of that happening is huge
Or maybe I'm wrong and there's some kind of conspiracy going that intends to flood the internet with unfunny staged american funniest home video-esque clips, better watch out or Bob Saget will take over the world by crippling us all with an endless amount of very mild chuckling.
On second thought that seems way more likely, why didn't I think of that.
|
Well, the kid was totally out of line, running through the band like that, so I don't really sympathize with him. Hard to tell how old he was--I think he was more like 8 than 4.
|
there's a reason sousaphone players are called "maggots." (at least, they are at BGSU...)
but nonetheless, the kid shouldn't have been running through the band like that. sure, two wrongs don't make a right, but sometimes they can make a funny video!

I swear that cymbal crash was timed to happen just when that kid ate some concrete.

If the parents were there to keep the child in line, none of this would have happened. Where are the parents?

Probably working, or at least not paying attention to the kid.
Funny though.

Kid didnt deserve that shit imo, but it was hilarious so I will let it go.

I saw this as a gif before and it had me laughing for so long. Kid wasn't hurt so its ok, but the tuba player is still a dick to trip him.

What's wrong with slapping a kid?
Well, here it's not exactly slapping, but he so obviously did it on purpose, not just ran to his momma or anything. Fuck up leads to punishment, that is what all kids should know.
|
tuba players are assholes...drumline people are badass tho! :D

If you were the parent and watching this, you should stop your son before he actually runs into someone, possibility ruining the whole band and further embarrassment. If you had to beat the tuba player, please wait till the show is over.

Right or not, that shit was pretty funny
|
it made him learn a lesson don't u think? if he got away with it that time hell just keep doing it..so yea i think its fine haha..who really actually cared about a time out ..u just went right back and did it
|
I can't ever imagine seeing a kid running by me and sticking my foot out....
actually I've never tripped anybody like that in my life, not funny.
|
That was a cute sequence of events. Little bratty kid and fat bratty kid. lol~
|
that was not cool
but i like it when they hit the cymbals exactly the time when the kid hit the ground.. eeh han timing !!!!!!!!!
|
Fucking lame uptight mean adults that forgot they were a child as some point. It's a damn fucking child you moron. Sure, bad manners by the kid. But all the blame on that goes to the parents/community. What if the child was seriously injured?
All the people who found this funny don't have a bad sense of humor. No, they have a bad sense of morality.
it made him learn a lesson don't u think?
Yeah it did. It's ok to kick/push/trip children you are an adult and you find them annoying. It's probably how this guy learned to do it.

Before I watched the video I figured (from the preview picture and thread title) that a kid was going to run up the rows lol... didn't anticipate the trip though... that was an awesome surprise.

LMAO funny but that tuba player was a fatass rofl
sWEET IM A TROMBONE PLAYER IM KOOLZ
|
why is there always a morality issue with funny videos?
|
Oh, come on. It's not like he kicked the kid or punched him in the face. The kid got tripped and fell on the ground when he shouldn't have been running in there, how is that such a big deal? I don't think the fat kid was much of a dick, although obviously it wasn't a nice thing to do. Kid learned his lesson not to fucking do that, so really I don't see what the problem is if the kid gets up and walks away from it.
Maybe if the kid got tripped into a pile of rusty nails then there would be a problem, but he just fell. When your 8 years old, falling doesn't really mean shit, does it?
|
|
kid's bones are very elastic
he'll be fine
|
Bet you he wouldn't do it again.
|
How hard it is to come back and kick the fat guy in the nuts... I was hoping that'd happen
|
What a faggot that guy was, it's just a kid!
|
|
The kid knew full and well he was disrupting a performance, or at least, doing something he knew he shouldn't be doing. The lesson he was taught was perfect; I bet he never disrupts other people out in public for a long time.
Also, where the fuck are the parents?!?

I think you both are taking views that are too extreme. It's true that violence is not the answer (positive reinforcement generally works better than negative), but it's also true that if you are fair and consistent about when punishment occurs, it will discourage poor behavior. I don't think you can have 100% of one and 0% of the other.
|
positive reinforcement generally works better than negative
Wrong. Negative reinforcement works better when you want to prevent actions. Positive works when you want to encourage actions.
In this case, punishment worked ...in a wrong way. But the result will be good XD
|
This made me chuckle a little. Assuming it wasn't a setup, I'd say the kid shouldn't have been let out there in the first place. I don't think he deserved the faceplant, much less in that manner. I'd just reprimand the parents, obviously not to an extreme... It was just letting a kid run through a band, no biggie.

After a bit research, it turns out that i was confused between negative reinforcement and positive punishment. And in general, like you said, reinforcement was stronger and preferred over punishment due to the side effect of the punishment.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operant_Conditioning http://allpsych.com/psychology101/reinforcement.html
That is in general. However, in this particular case, I still think that punishment works better.
Say, between positive punishment like spanking the kid and negative reinforcement like stop giving the kid candy when he does something bad like that, the later needs to be applied repeatably before the kid can learn the lesson whereas the former need far less frequency (because when the punishment is applied immediately, it develops a strong link to the action). Yeah but that's just my opinion.
So the correct answer is to spank the kid, not to trip him, and no more candy for him.

positive reinforcement is better because it works in the long run even though a punishment is 4x as powerful
