Hi guys. I've been playing guitar for a while and I'm going to get my first electric guitar in about a week or 2.
EDIT: I am having my eye on the Epiphone Les Paul Standard
Does anyone know if its a good guitar to start of with? I basically would want to use it for a long time seeing that it costs like 800 Singapore dollars.
I heard about the Les Paul Standard Plus top and so on. These are slightly more expensive but are they significantly better than the Les Paul Standard? I like black so the standard looks really sick.
Ha thanks guys.

All I can say is that in my experience the guitar matters really little...Its actually more to do with the amp(And skill). For example I purchased a guitar LTD(ESP off brand) for $250 and boy it has yet to disappoint me even though it lacks a wammy bar. Furthermore my friend gave me his amp a Marshall MG15DFX and it carries with it four effects delay(which is really really good, usual delay amps run for about $100), a type of echo one similar to playing in an empty room, a strange alien one, and another which I cant describe because I hardly use it. Along with those it has your standard distortion which is still nice and your clean sound, you can also set your gain contour and other stuff. This amp is about $180 bucks but so worth it. If you really have money to blow take the les paul. And again electric guitar is more about the skill / setup not really the guitar...this I say from experience and well so does Gus G from Firewind. ESP has some nice mid to high range guitars price based. Also if you wan't bang for your buck look up the Ibanez Xiphos.
