Week 1
My Mission: To attain the rank of B by September (a.k.a. End of my summer vacation, and a.k.a. End of iCCup Season)
We're slightly closer... still a loooooooooong ways away
This past week was a bit more taxing mentally for me. My goal was to average thirty games a day, but I found that after the 15th game my mind had a harder time focusing. My problem might have been that I try to block all my playing into one clump. This next playing week I will try splitting my practicing sessions into smaller yet more numerous blocks. But on the plus side, I did get in 150+ games this past week (this includes games w/ my friends and on B.Net server). AND I lost A LOT of them, but the way I look at it, the purpose of me playing all these games isn't to win, but rather to improve effectively and efficiently. My goal for this next week will be to get 200+ games in (haha... I'll make it happen somehow ).
Now... what did I learn this past week?
Judgment One of the biggest things I feel I can work on is my judgment. When I play StarCraft my hands are doing 70% of the thinking, I don't have time to see every situation and make the optimal decision. It is the reason I watch replays of myself, so that I can look back and be like "oooh, I shouldn't have done that." Or if I don't know what I should have done, I look for a pro replay so I can figure out what a pro would have done. And from that I can condition good decision making, so that it can get up to pro-gamer level (or at least "B" level).
In order to make the best judgment one optimally wants to have complete information. This requires SCOUTING, another big thing I need to work on (as well as many other D+ players). Here is a game that I played today against a Zerg who got speedlings and just kept denying my probe scouting and he used my lack of information to do a hydra all in and win within 7 minutes. Sure I could have played that waaaaay better, but had I had my map hax on and saw that he was going hydra all in, I most definitely would have built some cannons in response. The Game This is the power of making your opponent blind.
This next week I will definitely work much harder on going out of my way to scout and figure out what the other person is doing.
Scouting is half the battle, thinking and figuring out what to do is the other half. A monkey can learn how to scout in StarCraft, but a monkey won't be able to comprehend what to do with the information he gathers through that scouting (sorry Bubbles). Needless to say, I probably have the IQ of a monkey. Therefore, I will constantly and forever be working on finding the optimal plan w/ the information I gather.
Now, on to Week Three, 200 games gogogo.

Thats great man, just try for your mind to do 100% of the thinking, even if you play "slower" youll play less sloppy.

this is similar to what I'm doing except I'm trying to attain c / c+
good luck!

Do you mind if I add you?

I can't possibly imagine playing that many games in 1 day (30). I have hard time finding the time to play 5! Even when I do have time for more, I'm just not mentally strong enough for more than 7 or 8 games (unless they all end in cheese) before I just get burned out for the day.

I'd like to add you as well. I'm a pretty terrible D- player, looking to get better. I wouldn't mind mass-gaming against someone. none of my friends paly on Iccup.
my sn is BaSiL[df]

good luck with this. I don't understand how one person can play that many games.
I have played maybe 100 games of sc in 2008 so far and you did that in a week.
Lets play sometime- I'm a D Terran with so many different accounts that I can't remember all of them. I'll look for u on ICC

Just wondering, how often do you cheese your opponents? I think doing it every now and then or even all the time can improve your decision making and out-of-the-box thinking skills.
|
I'm a D zerg player... I'd be down to do some bo5s or something.
ie-A.Motiva on ICCup hit me up if you're down.

the game count is very impressive
good job so far

If you play motw, and the same level as you, and you play 200 games and you keep the same winning % as you have now (1 win to every 2 losses), in roughly 600 games you will have 6000 points. So good luck to ya.

I'm really glad and happy to see someone who set goal for himself in SC and is going for it
BIG BIG GOOD LUCK AND HAVE FUN, I'm waiting for week 3
About your rep: Problem with scouting is just that you sent 2nd Probe too late... that Z had 5 lings near the exit of the base and those could be easily scared away by that 2 Zealots, or Probe could sneak by them
1thing I would like to stress as Zerg is that every 2lings more is 1Drone less so you don't have to worry about lings hunting Probes too much (unless Z is planning mass ling break through but even then you should scout and know about that) Coming from that - any Zealot pushes like +1 push (with or without legs) can be very dangerous and even game winning.

Haha I can barely take 5 games without becoming distracted. But Im only C- lol

I first thought b was too high but seeing the amount you played in just a week 160 games in a week holy shit you played more game in a week than i play in a month
