I'm not a big fan of learning maps. I just like to play starcraft. Ad it's cool learning all the intricacies of just a few maps. I don't iccup though or w.e, just bnet. | ||

But I play it anyways because in PvT, it favors P. I hate Luna with a passion because of the fact that I can't get a 3rd gas PvZ. I'm not big on Blue Storm either. I do like Peaks, Othello, and Andromeda. | ||

i also like bgh, hunters and python i forgot who said whatever about python on us east but its untrue if you look at tvb, theres a ton of fastest and bgh games and they are actually a ton of funi find myself playing more of bgh than i do 1v1 nowadays | ||

Oh wait, I should revise that. Python's the only map I learned the 4 FE's on and thus the only map I am willing to play in case I end up playing zerg. + Show Spoiler + Okay, I'm kidding, but it's pretty close -_- Learning to play new maps is a bitch. You have to go into single player and play the computer and shit and learn different strategies, good expo locations, timings, other important problems like how big your choke is and whether it's impossible to block or not (cough cough longinus cough have you guys ever tried PvPing on longinus and NOT going 2gate? /wrists). And the worst by far is figuring out the FE builds for PvZ. You have to go into single player, play vs a computer, enter a shitload of cheats, and mess around for a while figuring out the best locations for your buildings on all the starting locations. You then have to make sure you have these memorized and you ahve to restart the game and actually try doing them to make sure you have them really memorized because if you go into a 1v1 game and realize that your pylon placement was in relation to your nexus, which obviously isn't there yet, you're fucked. | ||

They can train mechanics on Python, but playing a wider variety of maps seems like more fun and also more useful for training. Plus 130% is just cool. edit: and holy crap is it even worse on West/East. It feels like chances of me getting anyone to join games on any map but Python is close to zero at times off of iccup. At least iccup you can motivate people by putting MOTW in your game name. Although I have had some cool 2v2s on East on Wuthering. People join and have never played it but usually either say "wow cool map"/"awesome a new map" or the more negative "fucking unbalanced shitfaced whore map use python!!! Science proves it!" | ||

Lol because when I play new maps I get wrecked by worse players as well. There's nothing quite more frustrating than starting a PvZ on a map you've either never played or only played a couple times and having the zerg run speedlings into your base mondi-style because you didn't know how to block your choke. | ||

I do share the same thinking as -orb-. I don't mind to start playing WH or Othello or what not. PvP/PvT is pretty eazy to learn. I would just have to get used to the cliffs on Othello and stuff but its PvZ thats annoying. If you FE wrong then it can be auto loss to 9 pool speedlings and stuff. I actually am one of theose ppl that perfer to play on a map I've known like if their is 4 motw and its Long/Katrina/Loki/Faio then I will play on Longinus. I've actually never played an iccup game on faio or loki even though last season I had 500 games played. Now I think about it... How did any of us learn tau cross or longinus? Yes everyone was playing it and we started to learn it cause we like SC and want games on ICCup. Its always like this. We follow the map pool of the korean scene [not 100% but we do] so if Othello and WH and maps like that stay in OSL/MSL/GOM/PL then more ppl will be more confortable with them and they will start to be played. I share the thoughts of many ppl here. I will only play a map that is MOTW most of the time. Even last week when I've never really played on the other maps. Well, I've played on Katrina but I dont like that map that much [lol and I'm a protoss player] and I saw that the MOTW were Loki/Katrina/Athena and something else then I looked at the maps and saw ppl playig athena and it looked alright [even though i find PvT very hard on it lol and end up dt rusing like much] but i'm playing for practice too. I hate it sometimes when no-one joins your game and you have to play someone on non-motw map like Python and stuff. I think the reason ppl dont pla on new maps especially pvz and stuff is becuase they dont want to lose their points or get bad stats becuase they need time in getting used to te map and building placemebt and such. /end of post | ||
