At the lower levels, trying new strategies out is fun and all, but as play gets better you can really start to separate builds into optimal builds and non-optimal builds. Koreans who play Starcraft for a living have gotten most basic builds sorted out, and if you're playing to win it simply doesn't make sense to make up a build which probably is worse than what already exists and does more or less what you want to do. This doesn't mean you can't deviate and do silly things like build a dozen shield batteries or open fast queens, it just means you probably don't want to do them if you're playing to win. | ||
