"Put the toilet seat down after you're done"
Any men out there TIRED of hearing this obnoxious phrase by the obnoxious women out there when sharing bathrooms? I mean, you women should be glad that I lifted the seat up in the first place instead of spraying my urine all over the seat. Urine on the seats starts to get sticky no matter how well you wipe it off (which is why SOME FOOL MY SUITE NEEDS TO STOP DOING THIS) and I hate sitting on STICKY seats. Disgusting.
And so not only should girls thank me for leaving the toilet seat up because it then proves I cared enough to lift it in the first place, but they have absolutely no right to demand more when the act of merely lifting the seat benefits them more than it benefits me, even if I don't put it back down~!
Example: The sticky seats situation. In said situation, girls must sit down every time they urinate and thus experience said unpleasantness while I only have to do it when I drop my kids off at the pool. Basically, girls receive TWO TIMES more happiness (or as an Economist would say, "utility") than any man does by the act of me caring to take note that pissing on toilet seats = not cool.
Additionally, nobody wants to touch that nasty seat with their hands in the first place. Yet you girls still demand that I touch it TWICE, once to put it up, and once to put it down? Completely unjustified given the fact that lifting it in the first place yields greater rewards for women than for men. I mean if there was equal benefits from this sanitary action, a one-to-one ratio would suffice. For example, guy lifts it when he pees and girl can put it back down when she has to go. That way each party shares the burden of touching the disgusting seat. This is often argued as the optimum solution to the problem.
But one must remember women yield greater utility from the act of lifting the toilet seat. Thus, I can only conclude that for this to be a fair and honorable world, the girls should do all the touching of the nasty seat.
Yeah, you heard me ladies. Lift the toilet seat up after you're done. Thanks.

Just sit down when you piss to avoid all problems with women and two who the hell touches the toilet seat? I use my foot to move it up or down especially if it's in a public place... :p

I find this kind of funny because it's a load of crap.
I live in a family of four. If I go piss and put the seat down, there are decent odds it will have been for nothing (i.e. I will have lowered it, and the next guy will have to lift it back up again!). On the contrary, if I leave it down it's impossible that there will be a waste of touching dirty stuff/effort. At worst the girl will lift it when she comes in (which I would have done if I was their bitch). At best, we'll have avoided waste (which couldn't happen if I was their bitch)!
I find it amazing that this logic is relatively simple, yet controversy over this action still remains widespread. It shows people don't use their brains.

I refuse with all my manly dignity to piss sitting down.

The obvious solution is for the woman to put the toilet seat up when she's done, and the man, down.
There's a greater chance that the other sex will use the toilet before one uses it again, thus equal work for both sexes 8D

Hehe, entertaining. When I'm at my own place, I never put the seat down. I've lived with girls and I've never had a complaint. Maybe the girls that I've lived with are just weird. Well, the girls I'm living with now are pretty neat people and they whine about a lot of things I do, but never anything to do with the toilet seat.
When I'm over at someone else's house, I'll leave things the way they were, so if the seat was down to begin with I'll put it down (I mean the whole cover, not just the part that you sit on). If the seat is open to begin with I don't bother.
And the touching dirty toilet seat thing, I don't quite buy. You touch the toilet seat twice, then you wash your hands vs. you touch the toilet seat once, then you wash your hands. The end result is the same cleanliness-wise. Unless your hand is dirtier than the toilet seat, in which case you shouldn't whine about nastiness, since you're making the toilet seat dirtier

If girls complain, just pee in the tub. The drain goes to the same place anyway.

I've always closed the entire toilet (Both parts... the seat and the uh cover?) after I've used it. It doesn't bother me, guess I'm just lucky when it comes to that.
Anyways whats with women and that? They seriously only think of themselves.

I absolutely agree with you. I have been annoyed out of my mind by this crap many times. Stupid selfish people.

Since my dearest childhood, I have crapped with the seat up. Yes, for as far back as I can remember, I have lifted the seat, and sat on the cold hard rim while I took a crap. Why? I don't know, but it's a habit that has stuck to me and I can't undo myself from it now. :D

But look at the possible outcomes:
The next person is a woman: seat down is preferable.
The next person is a man: if he's peeing then seat up is preferable, if #2 then seat down is preferable.
However I think anyone that makes a big deal out of it is an idiot.
For the record, I asked my sister, and she said the toilets in a girl's public restroom is MORE disgusting than men's. Women are so busy trying not to touch the seat with their bottoms that they spray a mess everywhere. Men for obvious reasons are less likely to have that problem.

Of course then there's the japanese method...

Well most men do it for their women not because of economics but because its just an easy way to make them happy A happy woman is much much easier to live with.

I always put the seat and lid down when I'm done, because when you flush it can spray tiny (microscopic) droplets of piss-water everywhere.
Also, since our bathroom is so small, I always make sure the lid is down when I take a shower, so that when I'm drying myself I don't have to worry about the towel touching the toilet seat, rim, or water :x. (I later use the same towel -- the side that wasn't drying my body -- as my hand-drying towel)
I don't see what the big deal is for either sex. IMO neither should care about whether the seat is up or down. And why would touching the seat be an issue? After all, you're going to wash your hands after you're done, right? =P

Girls can fall into the toilet and get hurt if the seat is up!!

I piss sitting down due to the fact that.. well at least with the low toilets in my house and my long legs no matter what if I stand up and piss some liquid always splashes back out of the toilet onto my legs
go look more closely next time you piss and i bet you'll see some of it splashed out
unhygenic
