well in terms of results Flash is still unmatched isnt he? If u are talking about SC2 - I have no clue about SC2. If you are talking about both your topicname is a bit vague.

We can hope that, when Flash returns, Rain will continue to be active and we can eventually see where they both truly stand.

Of course if we're talking about BW then Rain will never match Flash simply because he wasn't there much during the Kespa era. I think you can make a case about SC1 and SC2 though.

Also while rain was the best sc2 player in the world at a time, this was not a long period.

It is a seductive argument though from a couple of angles: - has mastered every game he has picked up: SC1, SC2 or LoL. So he clearly has a brain for solving games at a higher rate than most other pro gamers. - incredibly clutch performances in elimination rounds of tournaments - probably the most impressive mechanics from an efficiency point of view (Protoss) - innovator/going against-the-grain : has patented some Obs-first plays in PvP and recently in PvZ has chosen builds outside of meta and debuted them in the highest of stages with great success. - winrates: he has always had very good win-rates in ASL/KSL and spon-games - when he used to play those - across all MUs. The PvP specialist argument is kind of artificial, he has been very good across the board for all his career. - he plays Protoss - without a shadow of a doubt the weakest race at the highest level of BW and most of his success has been in an era where his contemporaries have routinely failed at contending on a consistent basis. On the other hand, Flash's dominance is simply too great in BW. He is the ultimate innovator, he is clutch, he has had impeccable mechanics since the start and has won the vast majority of his finals appearances. The strongest argument for Flash is his extreme dominance in head-to-head against his strongest rivals at any time. The best people to have had a decent win-rate against him over significant amout of games almost always topped at around 30%, and most of that for a short period of time. A couple of times in the KesPa era, Best for a short period of time 2 years ago etc.. The one counter-argument I can maybe muster up is: Would Flash have had the same dominance/results if he had started with Protoss from the start? I don't know. With Zerg, for sure, I would even bet my house on it.

He was fairly good player in towards the end of kespa times, not championship material tho. Rain has a lot of cathing up to be even considered among any of the other great players. Having couple impressive runs doesnt really count "all time".

i was watching asl 8 ro4 flash vs rain earlier today, in g1 rain is losing his first observer to a turret by mistake. flash is literally sending an scv to build his 3rd cc on location *before* the observer even die. there is nobody else who can react instantly like this. scary stuff
