I recently saw a movie called The Mule with Clint Eastwood and that movie really got me thinking.
Lately I find myself not being too happy altho I do not have any real problems that others might have. i.e not being able to pay bills etc. I consider myself "doing fine" at this point in my life. The real problem I think is that work has dropped and I find myself having more free time that I do not know what to do with. That causes problems of course because being a gamer I tend to find myself playing video games.
Now the mostly played game I currently can play is fifa on my console. if you played fifa 19 you will know that this game can really be frustrating. There is also this mode called Weekend League where each friday it opens and ends each sunday and u have to get at least 11 wins in order to gain access to the next one. Ive never missed a WL and its a grind.
So to sum up im playing a game which isnt so much fun but its a nice time waster and the big question is this. I wanna find something that would interest me, something that requires some time, something similar to Legos but for grown ups so I feel im doing something creative and feeling that will make me happy.
What are your things that you do in your free time that you enjoy?
I forgot to mention I am 34y old with 2 children. So id prefer something I can do from home.

It depends what your natural interests are really.. Social games (ie board games) can be much more fulfilling than video games if its gaming you want to do. Otherwise, personally I play musical instruments which require alot of time and dedication to learn - but are ultimately incredibly rewarding. I would include DJing in this if you are more of a dance music kinda person.
ps I get what you mean about FIFA. I used to play these games all the time before i got rid of my XBOX. It was the best decision I ever made. I honestly feel like time on FIFA is just time spent edging closer to death.

Hey thanx for your response. I once tried to learn guitar and that didnt really go well. Im a type of person that gets bored quite easily so I need to get hooked on something that is awesome. I might sound weird and bad but i want something that I will make for others to see and go woah nice job. The perfect example would be building some sort of models at least thats what I have in my mind will make me happy. I looked up on some more advanced lego stuff but in my eyes these things are so overpriced... board games seem a good option but dont u need more people to play with you?

This is probably not what you're looking for, but you really shouldn't have any free time if you have two kids. My guess is that you are slacking on one or multiple of 1) spending time with the kids, 2) spending time with the wife, and 3) helping out with chores around the house. Before taking up a new hobby, I suggest carefully considering your contributions to those three areas.

I used to think if I spent less time on StarCraft, there would be a lot of things I could accomplish, and when I did more or less stop watching much StarCraft or playing at all, it's somewhat true that I took up some new skills, like drawing, learning about history, cooking, learning another language etc. I'm not sure I would say any of it has made me happier, but I got better at noticing when I felt happy.
I think if you just pick some new activities you shouldn't have a hard time. Just throw yourself into any skill you felt intimidated to try before, and see what you can make of it. You've got adult money and YouTube tutorials, the world is your oyster.

Are you artistic? I know someone that is learning sculpting and they are loving it. It sounds like the sort of thing you might be able to get into. You can get beginners kits and go from there. Plus as an activity its got that Lester Freamon charm about it.

I've been delving a bit into the more technical side of cooking and if tasting the food has become a problem, I could suggest seeking a variety of textures and temperatures could work. There's some dishes that mix in smooth and crunchy; hot and cold; dense and soft, which make for interesting experiences.
Maybe look into computer programming, small model building, and home DIY?

Since you mention Legos, ever look into Arduino or things like that? Or just go ahead and do Legos. Someone bought me a Lego like thing from Korea for my birthday and it was surprising how much fun I had putting it together.

If you have a garage or another workplace like that you could pick up woodwork or carving if you are looking for something like sculpting or building stuff.

why don't you do legos? What's there to stop you? I say, look at what you spontaneously enjoyed as a child and do that.

Because imho they are too expensive for what they offer. Sure the deathstar or the buggati chiron would be great to build and have but i dont think its worth the money.

I second musical instruments, to be honest. I play a few (though only a couple decently) and it is just so rewarding to spend time jamming with other people. Especially as a parent, you and your children (or just one) can learn to play at the same time - like a keyboard for example where both of you can play the notes easily together and bond. Other options that allow you to be home include reading books, playing chess, and learning code languages. I know that other creative choices have been voiced here (like cooking) and other board games as well, and I think those are great too. In general all the choices I've outlined are things that have helped myself or those around me rid themselves of the feeling boredom/stagnation.

Delve into Greek - Roman philosophy. You know, Socrates, Plato, Xenophon, Cicero's philosophical works, Seneca, Epictetus. My personal happiness began when I did this, might have the same effect on you.

Pursuit of "happiness" is a never-ending spiral. Instead you should look for inner contentment, because what it sounds like to me is that you are simply not content despite what sounds like a comfortable life. perhaps you are simply feeling unappreciated. You have 2 children do you not? Perhaps you are simply mistaking boredom for a lack of joy in your life.

Begin by quitting FIFA. Chuck the disc out of your house and maybe the console too. Until you do that, chances are that you actually won't be able to see anything else that you want to do.
I was stuck in a mobile pvp/card collection game for two years. I was aware of it the whole time but still couldn't get out. Even though I wasn't spending a lot of cash on in-game stuff, I lost tons and tons of money because I became so inefficient at my job and fell behind on tax payments because I simply forgot about them. All my imagination, my thinking during my spare time, my hopes, excitement, etc etc...all of it went to thoughts of progressing in that game. ALL of it. Well very nearly all of it at least. And that I didn't notice.
Finally I nearly went personally bankrupt and at that point I did at least see what was going on. I finally deleted the game and left discord and the guilds I was in without saying anything to anyone, because I was afraid starting a conversation might get me sucked back into it. Hilariously I found another similar game right away and started playing that instead. But that lasted only two weeks until I smacked myself in the face and dropped that too.
Now, we seem to have been in different situations as your working life etc. is working fine despite your gaming habits, but what I wanted to share was: when I finally quite the game(s), all sorts of other interesting, meaningful and fun stuff just started appearing in my life, kind of from nowhere. I remembered certain kinds of books I used to read. I began practising guitar more, and working towards performing. I reconnected with friends and started having more of a social life. I began coming up with ways to improve and develop my profession. Etc etc.
My point being that my gaming habits had taken up so much of my awareness that I'd simply forgot about so much else that actually REALLY interests me in life. And when I did finally drop those games and the big fat block they had become in my awareness, honestly like magic I immediately began seeing tons of fun stuff that I simply wasn't able to see before.
So, who knows but it might work for you too. Try quitting FIFA straight up, no second thoughts, just stop playing it completely. And see what floats up to the surface. Chances are you won't be able to have a single really creative thought until you do.
