With this change, Battle.net latency went down about 15÷ which is nice, from 210ms to 175ish (West server).
I am now streaming in HD, so check out my stream for some fun Terran games. I like to be aggressive and micro.
Thinking about practicing against better opposition, I went ahead and tried out a method to reduce latency on the Korea server. The idea is to connect to a paid VPN to make the game's connection go through a faster route than normal.
I installed VyprVPN and connected to its South Korea server. They offer a 3 day trial. I was ready to give up and cancel it when I couldn't measure the ping anymore (VPN firewall, probably) and saw the ping to the VPN server was high already.
I gave it a shot anyway and here's the result.
The game doesn't feel particularly smooth, but it's not slow either. I think the main advantage is that koreans see you with green bars so they are happy to play with you anyway. Good enough for me.
