Hi everyone,
I'm hoping to visit Seattle for 4 days (fly in on day 1 and fly out on day 4 - so two full days in the middle) with my wife and am hoping to get some opinions from locals or people who've visited before.
It'll be our first time there and we'd like to see the standard tourist stuff (The Museum of Flight, Chihuly Garden and Glass, EMP Museum, etc.)
Just have a couple of questions that hopefully some people can give insight into: If we stay downtown will we need a car for such a short trip? How much is there to see just walking around the downtown area? Is it safe to walk around after hours? What is there to see in the Piers/harbour area? Any insights into what is worth it/or over-hyped? Other general advice on transportation?
Thanks!

City transit in downtown Seattle will get you anyplace you need. Parking is hell, so I would advise against a car. Most of the touristy things in downtown Seattle are clustered around the Space Needle or Pike Place. Around the Space Needle you got Chihuly, EMP Museum, Science Center, and several theaters if you like orchestras or ballet. Around the pier, you have Pike Place, the aquarium, the Library, the ferris wheel, and the entire downtown shopping district. Each of these regions will take at least a day to enjoy everything, however, after 6pm, everything sorta dies out. Capitol Hill and Belltown have a lot of places that stay active later and are very safe after hours. Most of Seattle will be safe after hours. There are some streets with drugs, homeless people, or prostitutes, but you have to be really unlucky to encounter any violent crime. The only thing I would recommend not to do is to visit workplaces. Some people go visit the Microsoft, Nintendo, Amazon, or Valve HQ, but end up disappointed because they're just a bunch of boring old office buildings. For transportation, the LINK light rail is the cheapest and fastest way to get from the airport to downtown Seattle, and getting around downtown, you go the light rail, the monorail, and bus. Have fun!

Yes, do not get a car, and I'd recommend the lasagna at the Pink Door if Italian is your thing

If you like sea food, the Crab Pot was pretty good. Also really liked Il Corvo (that's an IL) for pasta. We used the CityPass to go to the main attractions which should be doable in your time frame.
edit: Haha just realized that you probably have all this information already :p

Il Corvo and Crab Pot are bomb, I can attest.

I would also recommend not renting a car. I would use uber or lyft for getting around the downtown/capitol hill area and most areas are walkable anyways. Traffic is often times a mess during the day downtown due to all the construction. Everything mentioned above is really spot on about places to visit in the city. We also have an tour of historic underground Seattle if you into that type of stuff. The International District (China town) also borders the south side of downtown and has some really great shops and restaurants and a badass Asian grocery store Uwajimaya.
