Hey everyone!!!!!
Been a while since my last post. School finally started up and I haven't had time to get back into writing on here. Nothing major happened between then and now really. I got an offer to be a writer for an architecture website www.arcspace.com as a student writer. I don't know the specifics of the position except that I'll get published on an established website and have a ton of people looking at my writing. I'm excited for this opportunity as it might convince me to leave architecture and pursue writing (doubtful but you never know).
Alright, to the main point of this blog post. Do any of you TLers know about the Grand Circle tour? Grand Circle I have a friend coming from Osaka, JP and she really wants to go on this tour. I don't know much about the area and I've been on Google trying to figure out what there is to do besides driving around and looking at all the parks. Has anyone been there before? Does anyone live nearby any of these that can give advice?
We'll be traveling for a week or so, so I'm not crunched for time. She just wants to know what exactly we'll be doing and where we'll be staying. Personally, I'm all for spur of the moment type of things, but I get the feeling she wants to have things planned out in advance.
Thank you for anyone who reads and responds! See you around

Neat! I've been writing a lot myself, lately, just everything from essays to dialogue to depressing short stories. No idea what a proper portfolio is supposed to consist of..
I've been camping near Sedona and gone to the Grand Canyon a couple times, but iirc there wasn't really much to do, per se, just kind of hike around and appreciate the nature. Maybe some less-than-interesting museums, mule rides, etc. I seem to recall a deep cave tour, as well, which was pretty neat. I'd recommend looking up Trip Advisor reviews like this one to get a sense of what other people are doing - the one I linked has a pretty comprehensive overview of an itinerary that particular family enjoyed.

Thanks! Yeah, I mean, you go on nature trips to enjoy nature, not spend time and money in gift shops.
Writing is something that comes naturally for me, so I just kind of let the words flow as they might. As I posted before, I've written two books (one a novella, and another a novel). I think a proper portfolio should showcase various writing styles and topics. You should have a personal opinion piece, a short story of some sort, a poem, and maybe an article concerning a topic that is dear to you. If you want, I can take a look at your work and give suggestions. I think writing is a good way to express yourself if you find it hard saying it verbally.

Yeah, I definitely agree (that's what keeps me going back!).
And I appreciate the advice! Most of my writing is done pen and paper (something about a keyboard just sucks out my creativity) but if I ever get around to typing it over I'll take you up on the offer!

So I'm on my trip at the moment and have a ton of great photos to share. I'll probably put them on Google and post a link here. I'm including one here that I think is pretty nice. All in all, it's not bad. Cold but it's worth it to see the Grand Canyon sunrise and Antelope Canyon. Other than a bad travel companion, I'm having a good time. + Show Spoiler +

And here is the link to check out what I've taken so far. All are unedited and some are grainy and blurry. Was getting used to messing with the phone's manual settings. Enjoy! National Parks Tour 2016
