I don't like Riot's balancing but pinning it on Ghostcrawler is silly, League was bad before he came and WoW continues to be poor after he left.

Isn't disjointing the Laguna/Finger projectile so absurdly difficult it's barely worth trying?

It is 0.45 wind-up + 0.25 seconds damage delay which is enough time to react to, it's still hard tho. However she can stun Huskar first then laguna him down anyways

Their way of balancing sounds stupid to me. If you make every champ all around and have a similar gameplay, why do you have more than 1 (or 5 if you want to separate them by role)?

The guy who wrote the blog is criticising exactly that. He said that the changing meta is but a change of visuals and only changes small numbers, that it doesnt change the gameplay and doesnt force you to rethink. He implies that their competitive gaming is a way of selling their pub games and that riot is trying hard to create characters and visuals instead of gameplays, which is the the logical consequence if you dont want champions to have big strengths and weaknesses. Sounds very stale to me.

I hope the blog sounds more dramatic than it is >.<

Ghostcrawler game balance in everything done in the past years tries to level the playing field for all characters and classes by giving them the same game mechanics.

Mark my words at first everyone is going to say "THIS IS THE BEST GAME EVER"

Then they'll say something like "THERE'S NO DEPTH THIS IS BORING"

I thought about this write-up a lot even afterwards and I found out that R-P-S dynamic is not the complete one. In fact, it looks like this:

Because you can't really update game with drastic patches and keep it balanced at the same time. For League, replace rock and scissors with papers.

League has a cool economy model: introduce a plasma gun first and after everyone buys it nerf it down to the rest.

I remember S2games doing the same thing with HON back in the day. They'd release a new hero make you pay for it then weeks later nerf it to almost useless or somewhat balanced levels. Needless to say if you were willing to pay for the new hero or use your in game currency you could easily dominate games with them.

I few from HON that come to mind are Silhouette, Midas, and that one guy with the gun swapping mechanic.

Master Of Arms was insane, my friend with whom I used to play bought it straight away and was rekting left and right. I left HoN when the butterfly hero had been introduced, I've heard some terrific stories about what happened with the game after that point. I liked HoN, actually I liked it x100 more than Dota. I heavily disliked how slow it is, and this ridiculously low camera was driving me insane. However, till this day I wish Valve would buy out S2 Games to bring their cool heroes in.
