That I wanted to share this in general, I guess it's pretty personal.
My general music interest range basically ends when Oasis is popular as well as N'sync.
Both those 2 bands were introduced to me by my younger brother, but I don't feel any real connection to that music, like I can't associate those song with the most dramatic/exciting times of my youth, where you hear that song in the background when you're with your friends, and hearing the song brings up just that feeling again, like a form of real time travel.
So I'm just list a bunch of songs which at the time where (and still are epic) which are pretty mainstream still but where if you weren't born in the mid-70's you may not have had any exposure to it. I mean, I'm not a music elitist, I like songs from everywhere, so I think it's kind of personal, but anyways I wanted to share. I think definitely, the songs do show some aspect of your personality.

-A classic rock song when most rocks songs were no longer good
bonjovi- ill be there for you

-the favorite song of someone who I was madly in love with, an older Japanese exchange student who over stayed her visa because I was in love with her, but left because her boyfriend who she was originally madly in love with back in Japan said he'd give her one more chance, and she took it and went back to Japan.

pixies- here comes your man
-when I want to reset and just get lost in song, I listen to this, don't know why, I think it just reminds of a time when my life was really simple
bjork- possibly maybe
-probably the coolest human/alien on the planet, it took me years to really appreciate how awesome she is
U2- one
-my favorite song and the first one I did a cover for in a high school band.
U2- acrobat
-my high school fight anthem
U2- where the streets have no name
-just how cool are U2?
Eagles-love will keep us alive
-I'm a sucker for love songs, I can't think of many better than this one
Bread- if
-Probably as good as the Eagles one keke
Smashing Pumpkins - Today
-wow, this was the pinnacle time of the 'alternative music' scene the pivotal point where it lost something by being just too mainstream just shortly after...

-groundbreaking, I can still remember this on the radio, driving in the middle of the night between mad study sessions at coffee shops in high school

Erasure - chains of love
-sappy time, trying to learn how to be romantic, but failing hard
Stone Temple Pilots- Big Empty

Pulp- Something Changed
-the love song I told my wife that when I thought about her, I thought about this song, at the time I didn't like this song too much, but once I had it on my playlist and I asked my wife to listen to it because as soon as I heard it, I thought of her.
Pulp- Disco 2000

The cure- Friday I'm in love
-I can't help but feel good after I here this song...from all the depressing crap that came out of that band, this was epic...
The entire Pulp Fiction OS
-not only was this Quentin's break out movie, I think the entire US/Canada saw this movie in the theaters when it came out, if you're 40ish and you didn't see it in the theaters, you are a loser. The OS was one of those CDs you could just play over and over again.
Since I'm sharing,
I'm not going to link to youtube, etc, use google lol.
If I wrote this list even in the mid-90s you couldn't find these songs unless you when to HMV or a couple of years later was using Napster LOL.
I just wanted to write it out and take a break just cause it was one my mind... ^^
