Would someone be interested in coaching me Meepo for a few games sometime?

I learnt the buttons (only played 3 games tho but learnt invoker in the past so not too hard).

But I need to learn how to play tactically, how to farm and move around the map correctly.

My account is 2.2.k but I probably make do in 3.5k+ just fine with some heroes so I'm not a noob (puck/qop/clock/supports).

I'm on EUW but I don't suppose server matters if you're a coach.

I use Skype or steam audio

Cheers

This might sound like a waste of time, but I might or might not do it when I have to do it and then I'd honestly just play along with you instead (but we'll see what we're doing). I have a friends account at around your mmr which I can use.

Add "The Royal Stew" on steam and we can talk it over, might be fun to try and learn some people Meepo.

Eh, and I guess I should throw something down that says I can play the hero all:
http://www.dotabuff.com/players/58705413

After this wednesday I won't have school work to for a while due to odd exam schedules so just add me on steam and such.

Theres so much meepo players streaming and u can look at their replays or fpvods at youtube to have a better feeling how they play and do some decisions. Atleast i did it and it made my meepo play better.

What the above guy said. You can learn a lot by watching good meepo players, and before you ask for a coach you should try to do your due diligence by using the existing resources.

Not to be a debbie downer or anything, but from what I saw with your other games from the grinding thread, I doubt you could get 3.5k. Based off those QoP games you couldn't be over 3k MMR. 3.5-4k players suck, but not that bad. Watching some replays will help a lot. Particularly ask yourself WHY a player is doing something as they are doing it, namely when they make a rotation observe the situation and how that player justifed doing it. Did he have a good rune? Was the enemy playing too far up? etc. And observe how they use less active times in the game to farm, or how they go about forcing pressure/pickoffs as opposed to just idling in random lanes. If there isn't something pressing to do you shouldn't be walking past neutral camps, unless there is readily available lane farm.

But you can observe stuff like that by watching replays.

you think i "suck" because no one told me the importance of item advantage before? well now that you and others have kindly explained it, maybe i dont suck anymore.

http://www.dotabuff.com/players/114635809

Iplaythings its a good idea, we can talk on skype/ingame and i'll just be asking how i should be putting my meepos to farm properly, just to give me an idea. i don't want to be a serious meepo player but i want a basic feel for it and could learn a lot.

yes i can watch replays but how is it my due diligence to do so rather than have a game with someone? jesus christ RebirthOfLeGenD you are a debbie downer.

You're basically wasting your coach's time by not learning as much as you can without their help first, which I think is the point RebirthOfLegend was trying to make.

You sucking is not just about your item choices, and you certainly don't not suck after a week of following some of the advice you received in the other thread.

It's time-wasting because it's possible for you to learn the same stuff without having him teach you. If he's cool with it it's not a terrible thing but it still is time-wasting by definition.

Your aproach is a problem. You seem offended by someone telling you that you suck, while being stuck at 2,2k. I know shitton of 5k+ players who told they suck would just... agree. The faster you realize how bad you are the faster you can get better.

Also meepo dosn't sound like a hero that is the right choice to get out of a trench unless you are significantly better mechanicly than your teammates/opponents and have the map awarness to use that to your advantage. Also you will take tons of space away from your team, but im not sure if that matters at that rating.

FFGenerations, this is basically the dota forum in a nutshell. People just telling you suck over and over and pretending that makes them psychologically superior. Apparently you'd be 5k if you just fixed your attitude.

At least in the SC2 forums some people will stop chanting "macro better" long enough to critique your build.

I'm not stupid, a marauder just shot my brain.

i'm not in a trench, i went like 15-2 in 2 days with a kda of 5.2+ after it was explained to me the importance of item advantage instead of wasting time getting kills. you can see how it might be frustrating to have people say you suck when you're actually a decent player but have some fundamental missing that you don't know about

i was interested in meepo coz i enjoy mechanical heroes (love invoker, puck, pudge) and tried him out properly for the first time. lost my interested at the moment (playing a lot less right now)

I was actually going to speak to this. A friend of mine used to coach SC2 and he would constantly have people pay for lessons and there macro was just so bad that it wasn't worth working on anything else because they lacked the fundamentals. IE: He was a grandmaster and could help you with how to take engagements, better timings for stuff, build refinement, etc but if your macro sucks then all of those other things are meaningless because you will never hit the timings correctly because those timings assume reasonable macro/micro skills. It is a waste of both the coach and the players time.

Dota 2 isn't much different in that respect. He didn't ask for a friend to play games with, he asked for a coach. If you asked me to coach you on how to play a hero, I will go over your replays and maybe play games with you to give you ideas during live games, alternatively I might actually coach you through a live game. That's a lot more work for the coach then just playing games together. I have a friend I ask advice for sometimes and before I do that I will watch over my own replays and try to see what I could of done different, include what I thought and why I did certain things and ask him if he saw any alternatives, or any ways I could of been more efficient.

Alternatively, I've coached people in the 2k/3k range and found myself just saying you need to farm more, you need to actually get your last hits in lane is just a waste of my time. I sit there watching someone fail at the most basic level of this game where any mid/high level tricks or patterns I could teach them are completely lost because they can't last hit, have no map awareness or have no idea how to farm or rotate properly. Like if I was coaching someone on core lina and they didn't know you auto the creeps 2-3 times, sunstrike then LSA to kill every creep and instead, do SS--> LSA then auto the creeps thereby missing half the CS. Admittedly that's kind of a stupid example, but any core hero with a nuke generally farms like that, such as Morphling or Medusa.

But maybe you can even coach someone to do that, but if you can't get near perfect CS (in the first 10 minutes) on a core hero in a practice lobby then you still need to work on your mechanics and any tips/tricks such as the above won't be too much help.

The argument isn't that fixing your attitude will make you 5k, its' that if you ever want to improve, humble yourself and realize you suck and can then improve. What this dude is being a dick about and in denial about is that he thinks he's not in the trench. He fucking is. No one gives a shit if you went 16-2 at 2k MMR. That doesn't mean you are 4k, nor does it mean you are good.

No one wants to help someone with an attitude like that. I have friends who are in your bracket who tell me they are good, or when I say "I suck at storm spirit" they tell me they are good at storm. It's like we are speaking on completely different levels. My "sucking" at a 2k persons best hero, would probably be significantly better than there performance on that hero because I understand the game as a whole better than them. It's that damn simple, and he won't accept that at all.

You ask us for help, and when we tell you what to do to improve you tell us you aren't bad. Then why are you asking for help? We are all bad, and most of us acknowledge it. I try my very best to acknowledge my short coming, as in my really shitty map awareness and my propensity to farm a little more than I should and not show up to enough fights. But I sure can farm efficiently on most heroes.

When I say due diligence. I mean figuring out most of the basics and the mechanics by learning on your own, then asking us for more specific/guided questions.

Basically this guy said it better.
