For my first cue, I decided to rescore a scene from Samurai X (Rurouni Kenshin) - Trust and Betrayal OVA. The original score for the scene is, at least in my opinion, a little cheesy and doesn't address the emotional weight of what's occurring at all. It's too actiony and feels out of place to me, especially considering the importance of the scene to the overall story.
So, I decided to write a cue for it that was dramatic and held a lot of emotion. I tried to incorporate the airy and "mystical" tone of some of the other pieces throughout the film, while making a piece that would appropriately relay the magnitude of the scene. I also tried to keep the piece a little minimal in feeling (at least up to the climax), as I wanted it to reflect the cold emptiness behind the assassin, Kenshin, as we find him at this point in the film.
I'd appreciate any comments as to how you think I portrayed the scene, captured (or didn't capture) the emotion of this part of the story, etc. Thank you and enjoy.
