I had no idea how good a game Cook, Serve, Delicious! was when I purchased it. I had never even heard anyone talk about it. I saw the trailer for the game on Steam and then decided I had to try it out. I'm glad I did; this game is simply a masterpiece. The restaurant/food theme helps the game be instantly accessible and recognizable to everyone. The game itself forces you to act quickly and decisively in a way that I can only compare to BW.
This game will splatter your brain all over your keyboard.
the fileting process
So what do you actually do in this game? You are the proud, new owner of a zero-star restaurant and it is up to you to make that restaurant the best in the world. To do this, you manage your menu and choose what foods are served each day. You need to purchase new foods and improve the quality of your dishes. Once you've done this, you can begin a day in the restaurant. Inside the restaurant, people will come in and order food. You select each order and then perform a series of keyboard strokes to complete it. You have to prepare each dish to the customer's exact specification, while generally cooking several other dishes simultaneously. There are also chores and other events that will pop up, like having to wash the dishes or clean the bathroom.
the dishes need cleaning...
The difficulty of the game is controlled by a mechanic called Daily Buzz. Buzz is a measure of how popular your restaurant is and directly affects how many people come into the restaurant and thus the speed and frequency of incoming orders.
sometimes it rains
The foods you choose to serve and your actions influence Buzz positively and negatively. For example, putting healthy foods on your menu increases Buzz by 5% for each, while choosing fatty mcfats decreases your buzz by 5% if you have too many. You can view what attributes each food has between days in the menu. You can also lower the difficulty by putting easy to prepare foods on your menu, like pretzels or corn dogs. This can be useful if you have a challenge you would like to complete. There are also foods that take longer to cook, or have more possible ingredients, or a more involved preparation process.
some foods are harder to prepare than others
What makes this game so great is the sheer number of things it throws at you. To succeed, you need to decide what needs to be done and do it in a fraction of a second. Managing time and multitasking are essential. If you can't clear your orders fast enough, they will burn or people will get angry or leave, lowering your Buzz and the money you get from orders and tips.
This game has a powerful effect on mental clarity. Playing a round increases my alertness, mental speed, and focus. The sheer variety of foods, upgrades, and events make every day a unique challenge. I can't imagine a better practice tool for a BW player, or for anyone looking to improve their mental ability.
The game is available on Steam for 10$ and you can view the store page here: http://store.steampowered.com/app/247020. I would recommend viewing the trailer so you can see the game in action, as it is somewhat difficult to describe the game without seeing it directly.
pour yourself a brewsky and enjoy this game
Seriously. Go try it out. This isn't a game you should skip over.
Just bought it an hour ago: Wow, the way it get's really stressful in the rush hours fells so real, gives me some flashbacks to the time I worked in a restaurant xD

This game is a ton of fun...definitely a very slow start, once you suffer through the first 10-15 in-game days it picks up quite a bit.
Definitely give it a try if you are looking for a good time-filler
Yep, rush hour is intense.
I remember the first rush hour with both salad and pasta on my menu. Rough life.

I find that fish, salad, and beer are all very easy to make. Then I just add whatever else feels right.
Pizza = bleh, switching through screens, kind of hard to do Burgers = nice and easy, just need to learn the rhythm for them Fried foods = not good to have more than 1 since they take time as you have to hold down the button Lasagna = wtf, really hard to do really quickly, gets harder as you upgrade too. Ice cream = I like it, not too bad, and doesn't appear during rush hour
I don't have steak, but it seems really easy and good money.
Overall I feel like this game is very slow paced. Not that it's easy, but new things happen very slowly... I thought there would be more of a story.
Slow paced game sounds good to me, sounds like a worthy purchase and rather fun. I rarely buy mobile games though but this is tempting... Is it worth the 4$?
Wow! This is the kind of game I've been waiting for! I used to play Papa's Pizzeria on Kongregate all the time. It's addicting taking orders and making them for the customers. This game looks like it's taking the restaurant service theme to a whole new level.
I admit it's probably not for everybody. But for the people that like this type of game, the depth of gameplay looks so awesome. Buying now.

I'm not sure I would buy the mobile version, as it's a bit dumbed down for the casual windowlicking phone people. This game is definitely not "slow paced," I'm not sure where you got that from lol. There are 20ish foods to choose from to start your menu off, and every day or so there is a new upgrade for a food.
Bought it on my nexus 4 instead, its more for while playing on commutes or breaks during class =D Playing such games on PC seems rather lackluster to me.

But you only get like 500-600 dollars a day... So you get new things very slowly. Every day is what feels like 10 minutes with everything, and all that changes level to level is a different recipe? And as you get to day 15-30 it slows down even more since things become more expensive.
Not saying it's bad, maybe I feel like this because I played a lot of this game straight without any breaks today.

You'll get more money if you choose a menu that isn't corndogs, pretzels, and beer. There's a 250$ bonus for getting a perfect day and the random daily bet is usually above 600$ just for succeeding. If you think the game is too slow, pick a menu like Soup, Steak, Shish Kebob, Wine, Burger, and Lasagna. Soup and Lasagna are both relatively inexpensive to buy or upgrade, they're fun, and they have a higher menu price. Fresh Fish and Chicken Breast are both quick to prepare, give good boosts to Buzz, and have a solid menu price.
This is awesome. I was addicted to restaurant empire. Now this. I thought it would be crappy because the screen shots made it look more like a puzzle game and I never watch video unless I have been recommended first. Thanks for the heads up because I was hoping that this would be a legit game :D. Going to get it now. Ghin, you should get into marketing.
Game is addicting, progression is slow but the active serving is really quick actually sometimes really frustrating if you don't purchase the equipment upgrades. But nonetheless I have taken a liking to it.
Got this game on Ghin's recommendation. Pretty fun! Whenever someone says a game reminds them of brood war in some way, my ears perk up. Played for about 4 hours straight my first session. Progression can be a little slow, but once you start getting more stars for your restaurant, the pace really picks up and service can be pretty frantic...especially after you just buy the upgrade for your soup which adds 3 more possible ingredients and there's 5 straight soup orders and the health inspector is waiting for you to take out the trash!!!! D:
I have no regret in taking your advice Ghin!!! It's an awesome game. I was chilling with steaks and chicken but then added soup. Holy shit I need to step up my skills lol, it's hard to get a perfect day when you get dat soup order of doom!
Note that is is not considered a casual game even though it was designed for Android. The amount of APM required during rush hour is pretty demanding (I get perfects anyways). The pacing is also a bit slow (takes 20 days to get past 1 star even though you can ace everything).

This is a casual game =/
High APM ~= Hardcore game
This is very likeable for people who like to relax too. I agree with the pacing being a bit slow though. After playing for a while though, it does pick up quite a lot. And a menu full of hard dishes can be very challenging, even before reaching day 20.
I picked up this game back originally due to the OP here and liked it quite a bit - figured I'd bump it because an update came out, increasing the difficulty quite a bit. It's a lot of fun!
Also, the game is currently 30% off on Steam until Friday, I think. Just giving my endorsement ^^ And if you liked it back when it came out, go take a look again - the new difficulty is actually pretty challenging!
