So I am happy to get a job offer as a medical equipment operator in neurosurgeries. I am leaving for Athens on Tuesday for training and I have basically no idea what the demands for this job would be. Also I am wondering if there will be lots of blood involved in the surgeries and if I will be watching the procedure or just focus on one machine and just do the job.
Anyone else have past experience with this? When I did the interview they told me I will have to study human anatomy and that I will have to spend private time on learning new things.
I will update this blog with my first day at work after the 1 week training.

I feel very assured that they train you a whole week before you are allowed to handle life critical machines.
|
They're secretly recruiting you for the Bicentennial Man project.
|
If you are strictly dealing with the brain, there won't be much blood involved. Some, but not much. If you go into the face or, obviously, other parts of the body there will be more blood.
|
Neurosurgeries often deal with trauma victims as well so it can probably be a bit gory. You'll get used to it in a week tho.
Edit: I can't imagine you'll be very close to the patient either.

Maybe OP will be be in charge of sharpening and cleaning orbitoclasts.

Neurosurgery? 1 week training??
my guess is you cant have HUGE responsibilities... chill out, it should be fine. it might just be operating the steam machine that cleans them tools.
glhf man!

Greece is strange.
1 week training and they let you be part of neurosurgery?
+ Show Spoiler + it might just be operating the steam machine that cleans them tools
it should be, but he said they want him to learn human anatomy

You aren't working for trauma/ER so I doubt you will see too many gory cases. You might see spinal fluid more than blood, in fact.

I still havent gotten an answer as of when Im leaving for the training but today randomly my ex teacher from the medical equipment training called me and I told him the news and he was like "oh neurosurgery has many robotic machines involves, it might be you will be operating that". Hyped.
