In truth I guess though that I don't really show off who I am and as such, I think maybe it's time I opened up a little bit about me (not that much, after all you're all a bunch of weirdos who do god knows what behind the computer screen ). This is only 1000 though and as such I think that I'll keep it simple. So how does 25 facts about me sound?
1) My name is Dave, I'm 25 years old and live in the suburbs outside of Philadelphia, PA.
2) I have been playing video games for 15 years switching between Playstation and PC every couple of years.
3) One of the first PC games I ever really got into was Warcraft 2. I was awful at the game, but for some reason I loved playing it. Then again all I ever played was one map which had you and the computer separated by trees and rock (which you had to blow up) in order to fight. The computer never blew this up.
4) I played Warcraft 3 off and on from about the time it came out, till about 4 months after The Frozen Throne came out.
5) I played only custom lobbies for the most part, with the occasional ranked game (which I was awful at).
6) I never played Dota 1
7) The first truly team based game I ever played was Battlefield 2142. It's still probably my second favorite FPS game of all time.
8) My first favorite FPS game is Killzone 2 for the PS3. It was also the first experience I ever had with 'competitive' gaming.
(To clarify, by competitive gaming, I am speaking solely about the organized scheduling and playing of matches between two teams. Not anything that has to do with a league or anything of the sort. I did play against people regularly that won the gamebattles tournament when it came out, but I never took part in any tournaments for the game).
9) I found out about Starcraft 2 about a year after it came out, and about 2 months after that I found Team Liquid.
10) I was awful at Starcraft 2 reaching top silver at my very best. (not helped by the fact that my laptop couldn't handle the game at all).
11) In may 2012 I built my first gaming PC.
12) Since building it, I have played Starcraft exactly 0 times.
13) I have put 1100+ hours into Dota 2 since getting the game a year ago. I have played 479 mm games with the rest of the time being watching games, tournaments, and inhouse games.
14) That time is more than the amount of time that I have spent on my 2nd-5th played games combined.
15) I'm still absolutely awful at the game and solo queue at 'normal' level mmr.
16) I have played 20 years of
17) Despite suffering a number of 'serious' injuries in football I can't ever imagine myself not playing it.
18) Some of these injuries include, throwing out my right shoulder, breaking my nose (3 times), getting a concussion from a knee to the head, taking a knee to the family jewels and having them swell to the size of a plum (and turn a similar color), knee issues that hurt when standing/walking for extended periods of time.
19) Over the past 2 years I have probably watched less TV than most people do in a month.
20) I recently got to travel to London as my first time ever being overseas. It was probably the best experience of my entire life and I can only hope that I get to make many more trips like it in the future.
21) I got to see Ethiad stadium (Warning: I'm a Manchester City fan) while there one day, and got to buy about $220 worth of stuff from the shop. It was worth every penny.
22) In school I was considered to be 'one of the smart ones' I just never had the motivation to actually do anything with it and have only finished a 2 year degree since graduation in 2006. I honestly don't have any desire to continue with school right now, and can't see any reason to go back.
23) I don't like to brag about who I am, and I am not comfortable at all being myself. I try to keep myself reserved and stay hidden away for the most part. I've tried a number of times to break this habit, but it is a lot more difficult than I thought it would be. Maybe this will help a bit.
24) One of the things I'm most happy about is taking over the Liquid Pasture Community League here. I have never been good about following through on ideas or making things happen, but I think for the two seasons that I've been running it that it hasn't gone so bad. Things could be better, but I'm still trying to figure everything out and really rushed into it without thinking everything through. I hope when I do it next that I can make it even better.
25) It's weird but I've never stuck with anything as long as I have stuck with Dota 2 and the community here at Team Liquid. I'd like to thank the people that welcomed me into the community when I was first new here. Specifically Firebolt/Kipsate/Kupon3ss for getting me involved in the inhouses, DrPandaPHD (Rocketbear) for being a good guy and a good friend while playing this extremely frustrating game, Alurr for making everything about my first LPCL tournament pretty easy, Yango for being an awesome mod for the Dota 2 section, and for all the other awesome people I've gotten to meet through my time here. I've seriously enjoyed every bit of it here and hopefully have a long long time to look forward to with all of you.
Team Liquid Fighting!
I guess if people want to know more about me, they can ask me questions. I'd be more than happy to answer them, but I'm not exactly somebody special so... :D
