The biggest thing that has happened recently was the fact that i graduated, origianlly I thought come graduation I would know exactly what i wanted to do. But alas I turned into one of the countless people who dont know what to do.I thought I would study more (post-grad stuff), then I thought work then I thought maybe chill or marriage or something but in the end im just sitting here and grinding away at Dota 2.
I guess the one passion of mine that i would like to follow up a bit more on is eSports and more so writing about it. Originally when i got into writing it was just about games and then I got into Starcraft 2 and switched over to eSports as my focus. Had some really good times covering Starcraft 2 in the scene (South Africa), which did not have much but I did kinda get known as the interview guy for interviewing a few famous international guys and doing quite a bit of coverage on the local scene.
Slowly my passion for Starcraft 2 faded as I got more into Dota 2 (ex-Dota 1 player here) and things changed, also at the time I was nearing graduation and multiple exams so i pretty much iced all my things and then went to study. Came out with good enough marks to pass and the idea that maybe this was a life i want to leave behind forever. Time to move on with reality.
But th question popped up, is it possible to leave it all behind and not look back? To see a tournament result come up and not cheer for your team? To see a patch go live and not wonder how it affects the metagame? To just load up and play a few games?
As our generation grows up we swap gold and soccer and other hobbies for games. Where the older gen play golf to relax we play video games (well we rage a lot with lag/delay and noob teamies). Maybe it is just how we are, that we are so used to this lifestyle that forcing ourselves to play golf to fit in just doesnt work.
There is so much more to talk about and vent about but I did think that it would be a good idea to keep writing here and maybe will post my articles on my blog. Just till i get an idea off what to do.
