First of all I would like to mention that all of this wouldn't have been possible without my wife. (which is pregnant and my baby girl will arrive estimate in September.)
When I was young I was never really interested in studying in school. All I did was play StarCraft and computer games get distracted, go out with friends etc. I was doing the IB language school which is considered a hard diploma to get. I have missed 1 class in high school then passed it with a 16/20 mark, then moved onto the IB because my parents wanted me to go to UK for studies.
The first year of IB I failed it and my parents sent me to Athens so I could skip the first year and went on to the 2nd year of IB there. I was living alone and as you understand I failed again with a diploma of 21 points. (i had 2 6's in english and arts tho which for the art class was really hard because it was on high level). Apart from that I got accepted with my 21 points to Southampton Institute which the following year became solent university! how lucky I would have been if my dad didnt decide to bring me back from UK and let me finish my BA. Here I would like to point out that with the 21 points from IB i wasnt eligible to get my high school degree because it required 24 points and some greek lessons which Ive passed but I didnt have the points.
So many years later I got married, I had my own shop which was going good in the beginning but after the crisis hit I had to close it down. Jobless and having passion for computers something really interesting caught my eye in an exhibition in Shanghai. Medical equipments! so coming back in Greece I decided to go and study biomedical engineering I believe its called. I finished the diploma being the best student in class but in order to get the full diploma I had to have the high school degree which I didnt have and which unfortunately they told me at the half of 2nd year.
NOT giving up, I decided to retake economics which was really hard since I had them in higher level. I had a score of 2 out of 7 and my goal was to hit a 5! I studied 3 months and went on to give exams. Scores came and I wrote a high 3 (3.8 to be exact). now the catch is that with the 3 I got in my economics I now had 12 points in my high level lessons so I was able to retake an exam in my standard level lessons!!! I grabbed the chance and said you know what, I will study maths and because its all numbers and I like it I will make it!!! So I studied again for another 3 months and the 2 I had in maths became a 4!!!
And here I am today , at the age of 28years, married, with a job, studied to get my childhood curses to go away and open new horizons for me ! This day I am feeling so happy and I wanted to share it with you guys and say to the young people out there that for the sake of yourself do a favor and dont skip years of school cause eventually these problems will face you.
I am taking my wife and my friends all out and will have a blast as well as my parents in the weekend! Thanx for reading and I wish you all the best of luck in anything u do in life.
