DHS Blog 1 (No photos except a shameless selfie)
Follow my twitter!! @LiquidKorok http://www.twitter.com/liquidkorok
Hi TL community! I’m writing this blog while I’m on my flight to Dreamhack Summer. I don't think I'm going to get any sleep on this flight, but I'm alright with that since I have other things I can do to pass the time. The baby to adult ratio where I'm sitting is a little out of whack but surprisingly only one baby is refusing to be peaceful. However, that's really all it takes because this baby is going off like GranDGranT after he loses in Uther Party. I've had to resort to listening to music at max volume to drown out all the crying. My upcoming schedule once I land is going to look like this: On Thursday, TC, Hot_Bid, Bumblebee (Robin), and I are going to chill in Denmark and stay at Robin’s for the night. We’re getting dinner at a special place that Robin has recommended to us. Since every other conversation I’ve had with Hot_Bid has been about Man of Steel, we’re going to go see it at midnight in a Danish theater. On Friday morning, we’re going to take a train to Jonkoping where we’ll meet up with the rest of the Dota 2 team as well as the TL SC2 players. We'll probably do a few practice games at a local LAN center and become adjusted to the time zone differences. Our west coast players are nine hours behind Swedish time! If you didn't read about the groups, we're in Group A so that means we play first on Saturday.
Bulba and I went to last year's Dreamhack Summer with our previous teams but I think it's TC, Mike, and FLUFF's first time in Sweden. I'm fairly curious to see if Mike's charm will work in Sweden since he pretty much had everyone swooning over him in China. We're staying at a hotel with what I remember had a very nice breakfast so I'm hoping that it's still the same or similar to what it was the last time I stayed there. Our daily brunch meal in China was snack food and other convenience store items. It'll be nice to have an actual meal before a long day of gaming and cheering for Bdiz. I'm very excited to see how this tournament pans out because I'm uncertain on who will be able to go all the way. On any day I think any team could eliminate another team in a Bo3 with the new patch, and since it's single elimination I wouldn't be surprised if we see some upsets. I'm sure many of you have Alliance as your favorites since they are the returning champions of both DHW and G-1. My group stage predictions are as follows: Group A: Mouz/TL. Group B: Dig/VP. Group C: EG/NaVi. Group D: Alliance/Fnatic. With these predictions being said, I would be happy if I was wrong about some of them because some of these were not easy to pick and I wasn't confident while choosing them.
Regarding the new patch, there are many minor buffs and nerfs but I'll talk about the ones that I think are the most significant. Bat Rider got a 400 range hit on his daytime vision, so he's no longer like he's a BM hawk when he takes to the skies. I think this change was long overdue since he is one of the best 'utility' heroes in the game. Wisp's spirits don't give sight anymore so it's a lot easier to dodge one of his TP ganks or juke him in the trees. Naix received a 400 range decrease on open wounds (only 100 range decrease at max level) but I don't think this impacts the hero as much as many predicted it would. Lone Druid got a big nerf to his most poweful item build: armlet rush. I always thought it was bug abuse since the active armlet bonuses should only work if all of them are working. Some made the argument that since the bear doesn't get extra HP from the strength that it's fine, but that is still illogical. Even with the bear bounty increase and armlet change, I still think the hero is strong. Magnus's ult damage now changed to tickle status, a wimpy 50 damage at level one (200 at 3). It shouldn't matter that much though, since it still is a long aoe vacuum/stun. Changes that are worth mentioning since they impact heroes by making them more popular/less popular: AA, CM, Dazzle, DK, ES, Enigma, Lich, Mirana, Naga, Panda, Pugna, Razor, SK (in the western scene at least), SF, Silencer, SkeleK, SB, Tree, VS, Viper, WD. To be quite honest, most of these changes aren't a big deal but it makes people notice them which is why I think they occured. I want to say Slark would've received a buff if he didn't start getting the occasional pickup in games as of late. Feel free to let me know if you agree or disagree or think I missed out on a hero that should've been mentioned, because I probably did.
As far as items go, significant changes are AC, BKB, bottle crow, invis detection, and blink dagger. Minor changes to other items and I think they're all good. I think the unkillable gem + dust 10% slow are a result of shadowblade becoming more of a common item. Draft got overhauled, and I think spreading out the pick/ban phase brings more variety so I'm all for it. Level 11 ults are a lot easier to obtain now that 500 xp from level 11 isn't needed and instead it's needed for level 12. Gold bounty for killing snowballing heroes went up (streaks) and buyback cooldown was increased by a minute. I'm all for incentives to gank and find pick offs. Again, please let me know if you think I've missed anything important because I'd be happy to discuss it with you.
I'll also be giving away 5 TL pennants here! Post a response in this thread and let me know what you think about the patch, DHS, or anything really. I'm also welcoming any suggestions for future blogs / photo requests / whatever. At the end of your post, please let me know if you're interested in a chance at a pennant (drawn at random). I'll probably need someone trustworthy to give them away unless you can gift Dota 2 items and not have to open a trade window since I want to get these out before DHS starts.
Shoutout to the G-man if you can even read this and haven't blown up your computer, all the teams competing as I'm looking forward to meeting every one of you, and most importantly, you guys for reading my wall of text! Please follow me @LiquidKorok (http://www.twitter.com/liquidkorok). I try to reply to every question and some comments on twitter. I should probably plug my sponsors too. Much love to Shiny Things, Twitch, Razer, and Barracuda Networks.
Here is a picture of me where I'm extremely sleep deprived in the airplane. Next blog to have more pictures and a brief recap of my first couple days in Europe. Expect a more personal/health blog after I write my last blog about DHS.

GO Korok, be rooting for you at DHS! I really like the changes to the draft because I think we'll see a wider variety of heroes snagged up that teams won't be prepared for. Would love to get a pennant. Go TL!
|
|
Good luck at DreamHack Korok. Can't wait to see Liquid in action. Hope to see a post-DH blog after. Have fun and go TL!!
|
I would love to know why you guys aren't as Dominant right now as you were before Leaving for G1. Is it that the other teams have Improved so much ? Or that your own level of Play isn't up to what it was Before? Thanks for the Answer..And huskar is Fucking stupid after the Patch haha.
Would like a TL Pennant too :3 since I will be betting a lot of Items on your opponents so that you guys Ensure Victory (0% Betrate Yo..10 bets made in total.40 items lost :D).
Liquid Fighting !
|
I think Doom is worthy of a mention, as he was already seeing some picks at ti3 eastern qualifiers. Gl in DHS!!
|
|
Would you consider Pugna a viable/situational pick given everything he brings in terms of push, AoE and some team fight contribution? Or is it a matter of lanes?
Good luck at Dreamhack! Hope you guys can win it all. And a pennant would not go amiss =P
|
Have fun at Dreamhack, if possible try to win some games while at it.
This has probably been discussed somewhere but whats up with TC playing mid recently and you on the carries, I preferred having him farming while you're diving&dying. If I see a QoP picked I kind a expect to see Korok QoP.
Already got my pennant!
|
The patch seemed to me like what Blizzard should be doing with SC2. Addressing things that are super strong by toning them down just a BIT and then seeing what happened. I would love a TL pennant. Would wear it every game.
|
GL to you all at DH. I'll be staying up to watch all the liquid games!
|
I want a picture of you in a doctor's outfit with Bdiz.
What do you think would be needed to get Razor into "pickable" status? +20MS more?
|
put mike on qop, stomp every game
|
Very nice read Korok!
However I would have appreciated you going a tad more in-depth about the item changes rather just just aknowledging that they happened. Maybe this is hard since you only have 1 week to play on this patch and if that is the case it's very understandable.
Regarding the patch, I think biggest nerf in this patch was the change to wisp spirits not giving vision as this heavily nerfs the wisp/ck combo as long as someone reacts in time. I agree that wisp as a hero might have needed a slight tweak but this was over doing it in my opinion. Perhaps only lowering the vision a little or lowering the relocate timer to 10seconds would be a better way to change the hero.
As you mentioned the open wounds nerf doesn't really affect naix in the laster stages of the game as most people buy phase drums/sny anyway, but it really hurts his agressive trilane potential as initiating with openwounds on anyone but a melee farmer is pretty much impossible now.
I cannot speak a lot about the other changes but a hero I really like that has gotten attention in this patch is naga siren. Teams like yourselves and EG have been using her as a mid solo to sometimes great effect and sometimes not so much. People like Felony from NAdota have been using her in agressive trilanes to great effect and this is something I think proteams should be trying out as well. I always thought of her as a very nice 2/3 position hero in an agressive trilane due to riptide but thought her basedamage was to low until this patch but with a 10second cooldown on riptide that makes up for it.
That's all I have to say about the patch I think, shoutout to IXDLO, corey, Rime, OTC aka wongstealer, and all the rest of you.
Good luck in dreamhack to you as well as everyone else and if you could convince Bdiz to play mirana ever on stream I'd be so grateful!
|
How much are you gonna drink now that you are i Europe? Would love a pennant And please do not let a swedish team win Dreamhack again.
|
I really like the patch, although I think they could have buffed morphling a bit more. With other carry heroes such as spectre seeing more play, I think it would be fair to give morphling some kind of buff so that he would at least be semi-decent. Other than that, Im pretty happy with the patch. GL at DH!!!
|
Can I rate ixmike's post 5/5?
|
Go go Liquid! Also, pennant please
|
Good luck at dreamhack! But you don't think Quantic will make it through the group? I think they're better than Fnatic right now <3
Anyhow, i'm rootin for you guys at DHS (pennant would be nice ^_^)
|
Really happy about the new patch, because Lich is one of my favorite heroes and I always get (in the past now, hopefully :D ) stomped by lone druids ;__;
Good luck in the DHS! if I wasn't working, I might have flown over to Sweden this summer D:
Also, pennant would be imba ^^¨
|
Good luck @DH!
Dunno what to think about the new patch yet, but I know one thing: Mirana needs a buff to improve her laning phase, +5 dmg or agi would do the trick. Pennant if you agree!
|
Good read.
I think running AA in a 2 position to farm a quick aghs would be an interesting play that I'd like to see tried out a few times. Having a 17 second up-time on the debuff is massive and if you pair this with a second global ult whether it is NP, zeus, silencer aghs or spectre, I think there will be a lot easy kills to be had. Of course this relies on the AA farming an aghs in decent time without holding back the team too much. I think the hero makes for a good 1v1 mid but of course with low hp (492 base), low strength gain (1.4 str per level), below average MS (295) and no escape, it becomes quite susceptible to any early gank. Either way, I think the hero is definitely very interesting now and worth exploring if it can be fit into a line-up.
|
I personally want to see more necrolyte, viper and pugna in compettive play. Hope you guys win at DH
p.s. TL pennant pls <3
|
Good little read. It's a lot of fun to watch pro dota atm, with new heroes being brought into the meta.
Hopefully the time difference wont affect you guys to much, and hopefully DHS can bring TL back to the dominating shape like pre-G1. Will cheer for TL as always! FIGHTING~
ps. get hotbid(or someone) to take a team photo, dota2 and sc2 players! That would be cool to see ^_^ (no need for pennant, already got it)
|
Great blog. Its nice and interesting to be able to understand and see things from a pros point of view. Keep the blogs comings. And i would love to have a Tl pennant:D

Honestly it's a weird mix of things. I'm not completely sure of what the main reasons are myself but I have a good idea. I'd rather not talk about them though here until we're out of our rut so I know for sure what they are.

Ah yes, I think Doom is very underrated. I know Alliance favors doom and it wouldn't surprise me to see other Western teams pick him up.

I don't think Pugna will be seeing any play in strategies unless he's used as a counter to heroes with high mana cost spells or in conjunction with a pushing strat.

Trying to win games is our first priority ;P. To be honest, I'm already missing the mid role just because of the heroes I play on middle. I feel like these hard carries like AM are very one dimensional and don't allow very much space to do anything but split farm and come to fight after farming for 20 minutes (bfury/manta).

Doctor outfit not possible, but Razor is already pickable. Teams just haven't given him a chance. Remember that with tree armor any hero can solo any hero. D:

I think its a great patch overall, however im not sure about the clockwerk change. I think his cogs change made him completely useless very late game, when everybody has bkb. And add that to the fact that you cant pick him vs lifestealer anymore, which was quite commen.
Great post korok!

This reply doesn't give yours justice but I am severely time limited. Trilane naga is very strong and some teams we have scrimmed have run that. As far as items go none of them are gamebreaking but some are definitely more significant than others and I could've gone into that.

If I do drink it'll be with Bdiz and Universe. They're both alcoholics so I'm sure I'll be dead by the end of the night.

That was one of my tough decisions. Quantic also runs very odd strategies that seem to work. I believe in Fnatic though! They were the kings of Dreamhack in HoN

Good luck in Sweden!
Watching people try to bottle crow post patch is pretty hilarious, especially if there's a good nature's prophet on your team.
|
Good luck at DHS, I hope you guys win!
|
Great read Korok!
Ofcourse, i already have a pennant but great giveaway.
|
Hope you guys and the SC2 guys do well! Don*t need a pennant because I unfortunatly don*t have DOTA
|
keep goin, fighting!!!! Hope to see you guys in China sometime soon!!! About the new patch, really like the way how B+P works now, and more options to be played at tournament since all the nerf and buff to the heroes but i found that TL's team fight decision is still quite shaky, specially about the position. Always some here and there mistakes. Great to watch, but not always confident to see you guys winning as a spectator.
|
Good luck korok! please get white girl wasted with hot bid and take pics Also you should let him stream (he plays a pretty mean invoker or at least he thinks he does) and you coach him No mention of quelling blade buff? was it pretty necessary? Also, more 2nd position bashlord plz
|
Will you guys and the SC2 squad meet up any? There haven't been any announcements/teases yet, and I think that's a prime opportunity to help integrate/initiate the fans on either side.
Good luck though! I'll be watching as much as I can. Something's been off lately, and I'm pretty sure it's Dreamhack withdrawals.

I've seen you mention this before and it struck me as odd - it's super easy to get a key because many people who already play the game are swimming in invites to give away and there are key request topics on forums all over the internet. I got many of them, so just let me know if you want one.
OT: Good luck at Dreamhack Korok!

When reading about it I got pretty excited by the Aghanims added for Ancient Apparition but I wonder if anyone's ever going to have the time and space to farm one up on him in a competitive game. AA isn't exactly the hottest flash farmer out there. It feels obligatory to pick up a force staff or mek before even thinking about further item progression but I would love to see that 17 second ulti duration in action. Perhaps if the game goes on for very long he might pick it up if hex isn't a better option at that point. I saw Na'Vi run him mid to great effect the other day but the game ended as a ~15-20 minute stomp so there wasn't much item progression past the force staff core. Anyhow I'm hoping to see an aghs AA this DH and for a deep run from you guys of course, Liquid fighting! Would love to have a pennant btw ^^

Korok I'll do whatever it takes for you Grant and me to have a threesome for a Liquid pennant <3

Good luck, Korok! Am hoping that Liquid`Dota can get back to the shape I know you're capable of. Lately just seems like you guys aren't confident enough, seems you play much better when you know you'll stomp the other team!
|
Good luck Korok!
I didn't realize you were friends with Sadistx and live close to me, haha. We'll have to hook up at one of the DC Events sometime so I can give you the (not-so) awesome Torenhire Hi5
After you win DHS of course.
|
GL @ dreamhack man, would love to see both you and the SC2 guys make deep runs in the tourney!
I personally like the new patch, I think that most changes feel right. Seeing as I often wait with picking my hero and end up with support because of it a lot of the times, I like that things like dust now stack. Also cheaper force staff! :D
It's nice that the bounty on the spirit bear is increased and that armlet got changed. If people would still opt for armlet now, they have to be a lot more careful. In one of the games I had a lifestealer just tear trough my bear though, the thought of him getting 300 gold after those kills wasn't nice -.-
I'm also interested to see if bloodseeker will get some playtime, I always like heroes that regen hp by attacking/killing units.
I'd like to have a shot at the pennant ^^
|
I liked the blog. Not too indepth on strategy, but the personal touch made up for it. Good luck at Dreamhack, TL! I'm rooting for you!
Oh, and a personal pennant gifted by Korok? Sign me up

I am extremely excited to watch Dota 2 for the first time at Dreamhack, hope it would be a blast! Gogo Liquid, if HerO did it, so can you!
I'd love to enter for pennant giveaway.

GL dude, I love your stream, one of my favorite streamers to watch.
#pennant

Good luck at dreamhack! The most interesting thing about the patch to me has been people suddenly realizing Morph is still good again, from what's a relatively minor buff. Always nice to see my absolute favorite hero seeing some more action

GL to you and all of Team Liquid! Nice little blog!
Team Liquid is the team that (due to it being the first competitive match I watched and you guys all being likeable!) that first got me into following the Dota2 competitive scene (besides playing myself of course) and I have been a fan ever since. Hope you do really great at Dreamhack and we get some interesting Slark mid shenanigans again :D Also, have you and TC been changing roles lately? Every game I watched (and I admit I missed some lately) has been you on the safe lane farming while TC took mid on a less farm dependant game (you Gyro and him DK comes to mind).
Anyways, would love to get a pennant to be able to support you guys ingame as well!

Good to hear from you, Steven,
I think this is one of the most welcomed and, frankly, one of the best balance patches Icefrog came up with in the past year(s). I say it was one of the most welcomed because i remember in dota1 whenever we got a new patch everyone started complaining about this or that being unfair and wanting everything to go back the way it was before, people don't seem to like changes very much... I've not seen the amount of complaining about this patch as much as any of the previous ones, sure there are people that are really opposed to change, but all in all I think the majority of the Dota(2) community welcomed this one with open arms. We've got a lot of small tweaks/buffs to underused heroes and not really any major nerfs to first pick/ban material heroes (most importantly Cancer Lancer didn't get "morphling-ed") tho' still enough nerfs to reduce their appeal (I'm so glad Gyro got even that tiny nerf, because i was so fcking bored to see every single game gyro vs lifestealer). Also most of the aghs upgrades/upgrade reworks are pretty neat and original. Necro, my favourite hero alongside dazzle, got that amazing block buyback upgrade :X which combined with the death under scythe buff is simply amazing in the later stages of the game (i hope to see loads of necro at DH!!) I agree to everything you've mentioned about the patch, but would also like to add that the fact that observers were reduced to 1 at the beginning is pretty big as just 1 obs being countered early on can mean that someone must play much more careful. Also, not such a big impact on pro players as much as on pubbers, the removal of dota_range_display from console will mean that players (especially in the offlane) will need to pay much more attention to their positioning in relation to creeps or other heroes.
That's about it, I hope you'll keep on posting!
P.S. I'd really like a TL pennant to show my support for you guys while watching you at TI3 ('tis the only tournament i have access to in-game, unfortunately )
|
You are going to land in Denmark?
Ah well, i'll allow it for a pennant!
|
Thanks for the post, Korok! Good luck at DH ... no wait, good luck with Hot_bid!
|
Nordic breakfasts rock! I'm intersted in you and TC switching roles again? Is it too secret to reveal the reasoning before TI3? Are you guys just trying to bring in something fresh or just bring back the Bulba, Korok and TC positions 1-3 rotation that you showed at the end of 2012?
And I'm all for pennants!
|
Really like the new changes, also in the cm pick and ban phases! Still think that Lifestealer is overpowered but that's just me i guess Good luck at DHS!!! Cheering for you guys.
Would love to receive a pennant!
|
Just relax and show us your potential at DH! Sweden is a chill place and you guys should enjoy it! (And if you take my advice and relax, I wouldn't be averse to getting a pennant ^^).
Also, thanks for writing up your thoughts on the patch, it was a daunting list of changes when I first looked at it :D.

Yo Korok, I would really like if you talk more about Morphling. Icefrog nerfed him really hard, but is buffing him slightly. Is he a safe-lane carry? Can you still play it as a solo-mid hero?
|
Thanks for writing Korok. I really like the community interaction with the Dota squad. Hoping for some great games from you Have fun
|
What do you think about Treant? Since as you mentioned the new patch makes the ganking meta a bit more viable and Treant is a pretty good counter to ganking (we saw what DD (now Quantic) managed to do in the qualifiers with Living Armor). My team has been running it frequently and we've had lots of success with him, although laning him isn't really the easiest thing.
This DH tournament is stacked so I'm really looking forward to it, and we're even organizing a watching party at my place. I'm only disappointed that there will be no Quake this year, for me that game is the trademark of DH. Good luck in Sweden, I will be rooting for you! Been a fan of Liquid ever since HuK won DreamHack back in 2011.
Oh, and how could I root if I don't have a pennant? Give me one! :D
|
You inspired me to try solo mid, now its my best role! So thanks for that and thanks for a possible pennant!
|
If Slark had gotten a buff, what do you think it would have been? Alternatively, what would you want to be buffed on the hero?
|
Patch seems good but time will tell as i say it is still too early to say anything concrete.
Ps: pennant pls.
|
I'm honestly surprised that Living Armor didn't get a nerf or rebalance in 6.78. That skill is uniquely unfun to play both with and against. P.S. put me in the running for a pennant please
|
Not looking forward to more bloodseekers at all, also pennant would be great.
|
KOROK! I'll be rooting for you man. So do you think Silencer's ags upgrade means that more teams will pick him for mid now?
(I would love to be in the running for a pennant :D )
|
Denmark represent!
Do well at DHS, I'll be cheering for you guys.

Win it all Liquid! Patch definitely seems interesting. Bottle crow nerf T.T
|
your ogre friend in that one armlet morph game was amazing, just saying
+ Show Spoiler +Oh, and pennant?
|
Do you think the Magnus nerf makes him an overall less viable hero at mid? I'd still say that he could easily take out Storm Spirit or Queen of Pain from what I saw in the recent games so I doubt that the RP nerf is going to change much even if it's a meager 50 at level 1. In fact, in today's game (Alliance vs. Fnatic), he was neither picked nor banned! Moreover, since a lot of teams have now found Clockwerk to be the perfect match for mag at mid, I think he's slipped slightly down on the must-have list.
Lich happens to be one of my favorites because I started playing Dota 2 with him. However, I'm yet to see him being used a lot in pro games except for the occasions when Goblak picked him. I think the open wounds nerf also doesn't account for much even in an offensive tri-lane because the two supports/disablers can easily compensate for it in the early game. I think it comes into play more when he's in the off-lane where aggression can now become a problem unless he has a racecar build.
I really hoped for QoP's Sonic Wave to get a buff because it's a mere tickle in the late game. To me she should be a backup plan just like Nature's Prophet. If the main carry gets targeted a lot, the team should be able to rely on her. She has the perfect qualities for a split push (Scream + Blink) but needs a lot of investment for right click DPS. Since you're a QoP player yourself, I'd appreciate your take on this.
Good luck to you and the team at DHS. It's good to see you guys at more and more LANs.
Cheers!

TL fighting~!
+ Show Spoiler +Would love to sport a TL pennant while watching in-game

Thanks for bringing shitty weather with you now thats its been warm and sunny for the last couple of weeks :p
Anyways good luck.

Hey Korok, good luck at DHS!
I hope that this patch gives incentive to secret strategies and new ways to play the game. Pro players still need to adapt to it, in my opinion, and I can't wait to see some unconventional heroes getting picked.
pennant or report u
|
TL Pennant please! Rooting for you guys at DHS and TI3! 6.78 changes a lot, I've been away from home for a bit so tomorrow will be my first game in a couple weeks, I feel like a lot will be different. I'm not looking forward to the starting observer ward count and buy back timer change though .
Can't wait to use AA with Aghs :p.
|
GOOD LUCK AT DHS
MAY I GET A PENNANT PLEASE ?
|
GL at the lan buddy!
I think Disruptor is insane in 6.78! I don't know if you agree, but there goes my 2 cents.

6.78 is pretty good, just huskar seems extremely OP, PL is still a problem late game. Would have loved to see CM get a speed buff instead. But as for DHS you guys should do something memorable, record a music video there with tobi(not sure if hes actually there this year.)
|
GL HF at dream hack korok, best of luck. I would love to get a shot at the pennant as well.
|
Put you as my favorite player in the Compendium - here's hoping for some more beautiful Storm plays in Jonkoping and Seattle :D
|
Hope you guys will find your top form at DreamHack. At the very least it will be a valuable experience months before TI3. Rock the stage with Morph please, Korok.
And if I can have a pennant it will be great. Thank you for the blog.
|
well im poundering over who i should pick as my fav player in compendium- mike88 or korok... if i get the pennant ill picck u as my fav player.. :D
|
I <3 TL. Give me a pennant!
|
You did miss out on Medusa completely, her ult got a complete rework and changes the way she can interact in teamfights earlier on now (in my opinion more effectively) with turning enemies to stone, making them magic immune but increasing physical damage taken.
|
Great blog, it's always nice to read what my favorite players have to say
I'm really interested to see what team adapts faster to this patch, and to see different heroes! GO LIQUID!
I would also love to get a pennant =)
|
hope you guys rock it @ dreakhack. can't wait to see some new strats ;D
Pennant would let me show my pride!
|
I think you missed talking about kunkka since he was getting more play even before the patch.
I would love a pennant.
|
Hey Korok, can you say more about you and TC changing roles on the team?
|
I think the patch was good overall. Slight buffs to a lot of not so popular heroes, and nerfs to the god-tier heroes. It should make for some exciting dota in the coming months! GL @ DH, TI3, etc.!
|
Give one to me!!! I can't live without liquid.
True story no lie
|
Good luck at Dreamhack, really liked your plays since SK in HoN. I was at Dreamhack in summer 2010 and 2011 and it was amazing. I think Necro with Aghanims and Slardars bash changed to physical seems really interesting. Would love a pennant
|
Have you seen how much damage nether blast does to towers? Its insane. 3 blasts and a tower is dead. Its pretty bonkers and I cant wait to see teams use him to push.
You look like shit korok - hit the sack as soon as you land. Also, the fish in sweden is pretty awesome.
|
Great patch! I feel like PA is coming close to just being naturally incredible, and invoker still desperately needs a slight damage increase either through levels or BAD.
|
Good luck at DH! TL hwaiting <3
Is your and TC's change of roles permanent or is it just something you are trying out to give you more flexibility as a team?
Also pennant would be awesome <3
|
I love you Korok!!! Good lucky man! I'd really love a penant~! Get some sleep man~ don't want you to fall asleep during the DHS >.< hahahah
|
As a TL fan from Sweden I am just very happy to see you go to DHS. I only wish I could've been there to cheer you on in person!

Great post, Steven!
I will start with my thought about you and TC changing positions. I really think that the old tactic was better - TC 1 with you mid, with occasional draft dependent switch. Now with him being mid and you in the 1 position, things are not going as well as intended. Its not that you are bad carry, or TC bad mid, you are both AWESOME players, but your personalities makes you fit better for mid role and TC for the carry one. Korok being Korok is like Dendi being Dendi - it instantly gives you an advantage mid, just the way mid heroes should be played and the types of mid heroes just suits you best. While TC's amazing lane control and just the way his plays just fit perfect for the carry role - it makes enemy offlaner to struggle not only with last hits but also with experience, which is huge deal, also he farms agressive but kind of safe at the same time and this is very very important for a carry i think.
Its not that i am not enjoying the new things you are trying - i just think the other way is more efficient and because of that - better for the team.
Speaking of the patch i agree with many of the statements in this post, but i think that after the str buff Vengeful Spirit now has a potential for effective mid role. Imagine what the rescaled lvl 2 swap with force staff can do with the early team fights in lets say 10 mins in to the game. The hero will stil be squishy but those 100 hp more for lvl 10 vengeful spirit are not to be underestimated. She is a hero that can do lots of damage very fast, has a reliable disable and gives you positional advantage, vision and - armor on your enemy.
This post is already getting way too long, so i wont bore you more!
I wish you guys at least a final in Dream Hack! Cant wait to watch the games, and if you manage to play your game, and if you guys don't make many mechanical or drafting mistakes you will be there for sure!
Good luck!

Future blogs/photos could be a day in the life of GrandGrant or interviews with GrandGrant. Also curious as to why he isn't on the ti3 panel?
kill nexus with fayde again pls
I would like to be in the pennant raffle thanks
|
Great post! Im rooting for you guys to take dreamhack by storm. Korok = #1 solomid NA
(sign me up for the pennant raffle)
|
GL at DHS, im kinda busy this weekend so im hoping you make to monday evening!
|
Koroooooooooooooooooooook. hoping you guys go far at DHS! Become the wild stallion you were meant to be.
TL FIGHTING
5/5 blog btw
|
Good analysis on the patch imo. Goodluck at dreamhack!
|
I have yet to see the full potential drafting scale post-patch. I think Goblak comes pretty near the full understanding of all changes but even there I feel there is quite some potential with situational tri-core lineups featuring Medusa f.e.
As far as DH goes: GO erm.. well, all? Yes, go all! I think the clear winner here are the viewers, the games are gonna be amazing with all those top notch teams competing!
|
Go liquid! Much luck in Dh. I don't know how i feel about the changes. Lots of big nerfs to some and none to others.
|
This was such a good read. Thanks Korok. I wonder if we are gonna see a 5xShadowblade afterall. Maybe not. Best of Luck/skill - and may your kills be aplenty, and strategies innovative.
|
One of the changes i enjoy the most is the stacking dust in your inventory.
Random number generator bless thy with a pennant.
|
i agree on every part, but i dont get why they made gem 150gold more expensive.. i think its too much.
|
Good luck at Dreamhack! And who do you think got the better Agh's upgrade Omni, Doom, or Necro?

Trying to get this done asap so I won't be including quotes but I'll just write your name + my response. Also thank you to those who shared kind words, it means a lot and the entire team has read your messages.
@mizu -- quelling blade is still relatively the same. I don't think the buff did very much.
@mauldo -- TLO is the only TL SC2 player who I have had multiple conversations with about Dota, Starcraft, and other things. (I'm rooming with Taeja/Hotbid/Bumblebee). I don't think Ret or Snute have any interest in Dota 2 but I've said hi to them.
@Provocateur -- Dendi opts for force staff sheepstick, and I think this is probably the best build if you're not doing something like a mekansm. Aghs is nice but it seems like an item to get later on in the game unless you're against some mass heal strat.
@siz.fantasy -- anything?
@torenhire -- I look forward to it
@Lin of Koi -- maybe in a strat where you have a tiny or some other hero that could benefit from the base damage // don't need to use spells
@LesPhoques -- comparing us to HerO? undeserved but flattering
@Sadrian -- we're just switching things up for now, I did play mid kunkka in one of our games
@TTrickster -- ah yes, the obs change is pretty big but I didn't talk about it since it doesn't affect me as much as it does for my lovely support players
@Oukka -- see my response to Sadrian
@shostakovich -- I don't think morph is viable anymore middle since he's extremely vulnerable to ganks and he can easily be pushed out by heroes that spam spells (which are the majority of mids now since bottle crow is the hot thing to do nowadays) That being said, trilane morph seems to be the most reliable place for him
@add1ctus -- I think treant is a very gimmicky hero. I don't like the concept of being able to save someone's life from across the map with a spell that costs almost no mana.
@A Wet Shamwow -- I don't know what kind of buff he'd receive, but if I were to buff the hero I'd probably change the scaling on his passive so at earlier levels in the laning phase it's more effective. Dark Pact is already one of the best spells in the game.
Post #2 starts with responses from Page 4 onward. If I missed your question then I'm deeply sorry and if you tweet at me I'll respond. If someone else asked a similar question I might have skipped it but if not I did by accident. I'm ditching the others to write these responses but I'd like to get back to them

@vectorix108 -- I don't think the aghs buff to silencer will increase his midpick viability. VP has run silencer very effectively from a support position and I think that's where he belongs.
@Cyn1c -- Mag is still very good but his impact in team fights is decreasing with every nerf he gets. RP is still a great spell but I don't see him getting picked in a lineup that doesn't abuse his empower spell. He used to be a very universal pick that could work with any lineup and I'm glad that the change was made. Also, with the change to bottle crow it makes him slightly weaker and many mid heroes can shut him down completely.
@DaCruise -- That's what Bumblebee said. I blame him for causing the bad weather though with all his raging. Can you believe that he's muted in Dota 2 more than 2 weeks per month? lol
@Tuthur -- Disruptor is definitely stronger with the thunderstrike change but I don't think it makes him that much stronger.
@blah604 -- The best things about the heroes who got major changes are that they aren't in captains mode anymore :D Tobi isn't here, and I think the hot_bid interviews will be pretty memorable.
@slendermang -- I don't think she's in Captain's Mode
@Spacemanspiff -- I played Kunkka in the groupstage! That ultimate is way too strong :o
@Wedde -- It's been asked two times already Ctrl + F my response to Sadrian
@Spicy_Curry -- I don't think it's nearly as powerful as you think, but the change definitely makes pugna a more attractive pick for pushing and anti-caster lineups
@sperY -- Ctrl + F Sadrian
@nlnoff -- I'm not sure what mid heroes a venge could go up against. It seems very greedy and will probably be punished unless you know that they're sending their own weak hero middle.
@Pimpmuckl -- The post-patch meta is still in it's infancy, and no medusa in captain's mode.
Alright, that's gonna be all for now. I'll answer any further questions on twitter. Going on a date with bdiz completely homo
