So just a couple of month ago my mouse broke, and I was forced to do nothing but watch/spectate obs games. I learned a lot from the players I watched and I definitely understood some of my mistakes that I usually make. Luckily for me my mouse decided to be full functional again for a week, and I grinded the heck out of the ladder. I reclaimed my top 8 spot as a Diamond, maintaining my 75%+ PvT win rate as well as my 65% PvP win rat, overall I feel like my game was on par with masters players (also because I was beating master terran and toss left and right.
One day, I began playing against a lot of top 8 diamonds like me, and suddenly each loss I had resulted in the other player receiving a promotion into the Master's rank. I began doubting my ability, and miraculously through a fairly interesting PvT game I was promoted into Masters as well.
-----THIS IS WHERE THE REAL BLOG BEGINS------
So, after a couple of days of playing, and my mouse finally giving out again, I sit here in the masters league. I realize I've underestimated the master league difficulty. The tough opponents are able to hold-off my all-ins, and the Zerg players manipulate the play to almost a degree of luck-of-the-draw (in terms of unit comp). As a fairly competitive player, I want to get better and soon be able to enter those online tournaments with the pros that play for real money. Until I am able to reach top 8 Masters, I feel like I have a lot to learn, and with school coming to an end I feel I would be able to reach a much higher level of play. Thanks to Blizzard the Global play allows amateurs like me, to able to get on the KR server and attempt my hand on reaching the masters league of the world's toughest SC2 ladder.
The purpose of this blog is to have a written goal for myself, and as an amateur-competitive gamer: a motivation to work harder. Also it's to give those in lower league a motivation to stick-it-out and just keep playing. It doesn't matter if you're losing now, all you need to do is try and improve: watch streams, go to Adopt a Newb, ask a higher league player for advice/practice. I was stuck in platinum for 6-7 seasons, without a single clue why I was not promoted, and then stuck in Diamond for 4-5 without understanding either. But looking back from each promotion, I can see the difference between my plays; and now that I am in masters, I truly appreciate all those who has helped me along the way, and I understand that to improve I am going to need more help, but this time it has to be mostly from me, and me only.
