Ok, first things first. Yes, I am an American. No, I do not have any medical insurance of any kind.
Here is the situation, I've been lying in my room for four days now, and I don't seem to be improving. My main symptom is that it causes me extreme pain to move my eyes out of the center of my visual field, looking up or down or to the side hurts like hell. Also once or twice a day I will get really bad colds sweats and shaking, even with multiple layers on in a hot room. Basically I've just been lying here with my eyes closed trying not to move my eyes and sleeping. Also if I run my hand through my hair this causes pain on my scalp.
Obviously going into a doctor would be like the monetary equivalent of stomping on my balls.
This is clearly a gaming forum and all of this isn't actually happening, I'm just playing Trauma Team for the Wii and I like to roleplay as realistically as possible.
Please refrain from just posting about how shitty the US healthcare system is, this is unhelpful.

No reddening, nose is totally clear. Actually my eyes are pretty swollen now that I look at it
This came on really fast, I was fine, then got tired really early and the next day basically fucked.

First of all, isn't there some place you can go to for help? I know it's the US but there has to be some non-profit organisation you can turn to, right?
Some questions: When did the symptoms start? Did the pain suddenly appear at its worst or did it gradually become worse? What is your temperature (do you have a fever)? How is the inside of your mouth/throat (color, swelling, rash, pain)? Does the back of your neck hurt? Can you put your chin on your chest? Do you have a recent rash (if yes, please describe how it looks)? Did something happen before the symtoms start? Anyone you know or live with that has the same symptoms? What do you think it might be?
If you're really worried, stomping on your monetary balls might be worth it.

Look up temporal arteritis (aka giant cell arteritis) and see if that fits. Does it hurt when you chew? Note: I'm not a doctor so don't take what I say too seriously.

My jaw is fine and i'm 22, it says the average age for that is 70 and rarely before 50.

My madre has lupus. The symptoms don't match up.

alright, it is time you called the ER. The money is worth it to get yourself cured ok. I know you might not have insurance and doctors bills are enormous, but you can't go on like this if it gets serious, that just won't work dude.

Go see a doctor. Seriously. Yes, its going to cost you a small fortune, but suffering in agonizing pain isn't worth it.

it's aids and you can't prove me wrong til you go to a doctor
i also have the most posts in the thread. i'd listen to me

Based on the symptoms and the answer to those questions. It could be a torn retina. My brother had it happen to him. You might need to have surgery. You need to see a doctor.

just out of curiosity how much being examined by a doctor approximately cost, i have no clue since even most homeless people have health insurance here

slightly off-topic and hopefully not derailing: My GF moved to Germany, but did not have health insurance, so any doctors' visit had to be paid by us.
Just seeing a doctor, with a 10 minute examination and pulling out stitches was 12 Euro.
Going to the hospital after a bike accident with - stitches - painkillers for a week - x-ray - pregnancy test (before the xrays)
was 138 Euro.
How much would you expect to pay in the US? Aren't there also walk-in ambulances in poorer neighbourhoods?

it varies a ton, but id wager to say that a visit to a dr without insurance and without any kind of govt aid would easily run 100-150. no idea bout any kind of prescription costs but im sure it is high
for those with insurance, you're paying anywhere from $10-50, depending on plan (this is called a co-pay). there's a seperate co pay for medicine as well.
my insurance is something like $30 for dr visits and $20 for prescriptions. Used to be lower but one of the effects of obama's bill was boning people who have good insurance with low copays. my rates on my old compny went up like 30% and had to switch meh.

As long as you don't need surgery or to stay in a hospital nothing should get SUPER expensive. Hopefully it will just be a doctor's visit $100-$200, and then some form of prescription, which will probably cost you at the most $50-$100, unless it is one of those rare exotic drugs, in which case you could be boned.
Edit: You should call ahead to different hospitals to get comparisons on how much it costs for a regular doctor's visit.
