Generalising an entire community after playing a few ladder games, now THAT isn't very mature.

But yeah, players do dumb shit, letting that get to you isn't going to make any game fun. I don't really get how 6 pools and desperation DT's are BM, but people that refuse to leave are annoying as hell xD
I think esports is pretty nice.

SC2 ladder inherently involves that kind of BS. Maybe you're better off playing against friends :T

Mature? Today, after a long break, I decided to play some starcraft. After I got banshee rushed 3 times in a row I just Alt F4'd the game in frustration. The game is perfect, it's the assholes that ruin it and I'd rather watch people play it than do it myself.

Banshee rush is one of the most standard Terran builds, are you serious?

Why did you group people going for a 6 pool with people doing stupid and pointless things with the sole reason of prolonging the game without any chance of winning?
6 pool is a legitimate strategy, at least against zerg and protoss.

To me it's the same, it serves no purpose other than scoring a cheap/free win. What's the point of that under than to piss off the opponent ? There is none.

Wait what? So the terrans who were floating buildings to the corner and the zergs who made lots of extractors around the map weren't doing it just to prolong an already lost game but to actually try to win a base race of force a draw?
If that's the case then I do not understand your frustration at all. How can you fault players for trying to win / trying to not lose?

There's nothing impolite about using a play style that you do not approve of. If you do not enjoy play this game, then fine, don't play it, but don't blame your opponents for that.

In ZvZ 6 pool only very rarely gets a build order win, usually it comes down to control and decision making.
In ZvP the point of 6 pool is to punish Nexus first builds. If Zerg never went for early pool, Toss could just get away with making Nexus first every game. Because of the possibility of 6 pool, there's a certain risk associated with Nexus first openings.

And most importantly, many players do actually enjoy using 6 pools and there's also players who enjoy playing against 6 pool.

Take this guy for example: a crystal clear example about those people this very blog is about. Annoying, and do not display much of any other qualities to speak of.

Personally, i gave up laddering on SC2 long long ago. Coincidentally, i gave up at top Plat/Diamond border too

It sounds like you're angry that people aren't playing the way you want them to. That's like the stupidest reason ever to get angry. Starcraft probably isn't for you if you're really that upset.

Lol quit being a drama queen, every game has its assholes, just leave the game, hit find match, and PLAY. And stop complaining about cheese, if you lose to 6 pool alot maybe those ladder games were good practice against it :D.

I was under the impression that this community (Starcraft players in general, not TL), was one of the most mature gaming communities around. I never actually played the game much but I've watched my fair share of streams and tournaments since 2008. This week I figured I'd try and get back into it and actually learn it. I've been playing for 3 days.

In 3 days I got 6pooled 5 times, I had 2 guys float their buildings to the corners of the map, a Zerg building Geysers everywhere and the countless desperation DTs and DTs rush.

Having to chase people around isn't fun at all, I really can't take being disrespected in game like that, every time it happens I get so mad that I absolutely cannot play anymore. It ruins my entire day and destroy my mood.

The game is alright, only if it wasn't for the damn people that play it! I understand that as you get to top8 Master, things must start to get better but I'm not there yet and I think I'll just give up, 60% of the games I played so far were against BM players and that wasn't fun at all. Too bad because I wanted to play this game...

tl;dr: Fuck you BM and disrespectful players, you have won.

hey bro i told a stranger to look after my bag and he stole my bag

fucking humans

come on now, stop being a baby and stop overgeneralising.

1. you're in the cesspool known as low level sc2( to be honest this doesn't ever get better)

Pretty much this. I like what you said about the fact that it doesn't get better. Honestly, ladder is best described as a scramble. It will never be pretty. Yes, it is satisfying to have a game play out with grace and fervour and all that good shit. It's nice to play a game that didn't feel like a frantic button bashing shitstorm but rather a considered game of cards or chess or w/e. Not going to happen, ladder is an ugly climb and will always be that way.

"Start with the man in the mirror" ;-)
You can't control other people, but you can control yourself. (Almost) nothing hurts you unless you let it hurt you.

How does a very old man usually react to extreme childishness? Annoyed, irritated? Not really, more like, indifferent.
You can train yourself to see all kinds of BM as part of the game, which doesn't get to you emotionally. Have humility and respect for your disrespectful opponents, who knows where they are at life, maybe in a more difficult situation.

P.S. I hope this doesn't sound too "let's all be friends" bullshittery, more like I think it's just a reasonable outlook on what you can do to work your way up quicker and with better focus.

Take that frustration and turn it into fun. I used to get really really mad then I created the following thread:

http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=175960&currentpage=166

When its an especially infuriating or hilarious BM just take a screen shot and post it there. It really does make you feel better because you can take a step back and laugh at the person instead of getting mad about yourself.

Cheese is part of the game. Learn to defend it. Also, press F11 at the start of the game and mute the other person. As for BM getting better or worse as you progress through the leagues, it doesn't. It all depends on your luck of the draw. I've had periods of extremely nice well mannered players and disgustingly BM trash talkers in all leagues.

lol played some more games. Double gateway proxy inside my base, 3rax all-in'd. It never stops. I think of the entire day I played 2 games that weren't all-ins. And that's a better ratio than yesterday!

Most of the builds you talk about become practically extinct in Masters since they're fairly easy to hold off once scouted. If you make that skill jump you'll find yourself enjoying way more heavy macro and harass games.

If you're really not enjoying yourself, go do other shit and then come back. Jump outside, hop in a pool, hug kittens, etc etc. There's a whole world out there

I see you mention BM bothering you. One thing I've come across in many threads like this is just to block your opponent before the match really gets going (like around the time you might say gl hf). I don't do this but I would suggest it as it seems to help people who get frustrated with all the BM.

It's kind of like playing as a grey wizard.

EDIT: Apparently this is not possible to do atm. Sorry I thought it was as I remember reading some thread about it..
The reaction of boron-11 and plain hydrogen produces all its energy in the form of charged particles which can be directed by a magnetic field, but the reaction is very difficult to sustain and many fusion physicists doubt it will ever prove practical

? Of course you've been 6pooled and had buildings floated on you when you first play. That is what low bronze is like. They haven't played enough to be part of this community.

You can't block in-game BM tho, the most frustrating kind and the one I was complaining about...
