I am a horrible SC2 player, but I think that came from me playing SC (orignal with friends turtling up vs computers and clobbering them.) We never really played BW only with UMS. So all I really did in the past playing SC2 was turtling and then got discouraged from the ladder cause I couldn't scout properly and understand anything about the game.
I wanna start a new beginning on the ladder with learning to be Zerg (switching from Terran.) I LOVE battle cursers. XD Anyways I thought trying to play like a swarm was cool (and want turtling out of my system and wanna be an agressive player). Get the vision from creep spread + overloards if you are not getting stomped on all over. Getting to burrow and flank n stuff! I wanna learn how to play like the swarm! XD I am pretty noobish, but I at least wanna have fun with it and not want to blow steam from losing a lot.
Today I started my placement matches. The two first ones off the bat the opponent was lagging like crazy and dropped the game. Then the third game I got swarmed with zerglings. Then the one I want to talk about was crazy cool/silly!
Still being new to the whole Zerg stuff I have a bad time trying to choose which tech I go so I end up with a pool and no other tech for a good amount of time. So anyways I thought I build a roach warren, baneling nest, then a nydus network (cause why not! I really enjoy seeing nydus play that succeeds.)
So I started to build my nydus wondering if I could even get into the opponents base. I knew the ramp was closed off cause my scouting drone was trapped and killed off.
With all the overloards giving me vision + I must have placed a couple zerglings at the watch tower I saw the army of my opponent coming and I knew I was in trouble because there was robotics facility being built when my drone died.
The same spot where my drone was sitting I decided to place my nydus there.
Then I started to load it up with what only I had was zerglings (and not a lot either) accidentally putting in my queens. ><
Before they could reach my natural I was able to start streaming in my units. I aimed for all possible pylons powering any of the gateways. I also had to attack probes that were attacking my zerlings, which I lost a good amount. ><;;
My Nat got clobbered.
So did my main.
Then the base race was ON. The opponent wiped out my base pretty good with their strong army and mine was pretty weak. And I had a drone that escaped the base and since my macro is pretty bad I had a lot of minerals to make a new hatch elsewhere.
And I saw they didn't finish off the larva either, which were going to die so I made drones and made them flee off to other areas to make hatches.
The zerglings were trying all they could destroying the buildings.
Three more buildings to go!
Two!
The opponent did try to get back to their base, but it was too late. By the time I was ont he last pylon I saw the army coming up the ramp as I killed off the last pylon.
It was a very cool match! Sadly it was a base race more than anything. Cool game to me none the less. I have one more placement match now and will probably placed somewhere in bronze I hope. Haha. I got a much more to learn and hopefully I can be a diamond player and above one day understanding the game much better!
