My first completed songs

Hi, I'm happy to have finally finished 3 songs to a satisfactory level a few months ago. Usually I have an idea and record it only to forget about it, leaving me with about 384mb of audio files @ ~96kbps of ideas.

These, though not the current version, are 3 of 4 completed and satisfactory songs I have, many others are lacking something. I didn't upload the current version because I suck at playing cleanly

So please have a listen and tell me what you think, anything: Makes you happy/sleepy/bored, musical criticisms, anything.

How I do it is I play around, noodle and improvise around with random ideas all the time and I'll record it if something decent comes up. Then, once in a while I'll expand on it, and most of the time, never get back to it. But once in a while, I'd be able to come up with a decent progression and sometimes join in bits of ideas from another day's noodling, which I did for the first one.

I'm also trying to make some electro but my brother said the beat is nice but te melody is " not cool". hahaha I came up with the "not cool" description because I think it really fits. Anyways maybe I'll post something next time.

I'd also like to say thanks to the people who gave me suggestions about making electronic music the previous time, it helped me a lot, though gear and money (exchange rate) are problems for me - hate using the computer keyboard, but I'll get a proper midi keyboard soon enough.

While we're on the topic, anyone have any suggestions/things to look out for when it comes to midi keyboards? Thanks.

Only listened to the first song so far. I think it has too much bending at the start. Then I gotta remark that you chose a soothing/relaxed/lighthearted style but the problem is that there's too many silent moments in the song that get interrupted by a sudden loud chord. It makes me feel that this stems from you having to change your left hand's position. It'd sound so much better if there was a constant sound throughout the song. The way it is is slightly too chaotic.

Secondly, you're obviously a creative person. I see that in the ideas that shine through your songs. They're just not coherent. Try to find one or two ideas and compose a song around that. Don't put too much into one song, but try to pick out a few ideas and work on them, develop them.

Just my 2 cents.

It reminded my of William Ackerman. Dunno if that was the sound you were going for but he's been my inspiration for quite some time now.

To be honest I don't enjoy William Ackerman because it sounds too flat for me, hence my playing style and how you find it chaotic. I can understand and accept your views, though the other 2 parts aren't so chaotic (I think :D)

I'm always trying to put more ideas because songs with only 2 parts repeated again and again with the occational bridge really bores me. Funny how my brother says that he was starting to feel bored and that I needed to add more variations hahaha, I guess we're used to different stuff.

But yes definitely I value your opinion and I'll pay more attention to those points. I'm going to sleep now, please do tell me what you think about the others, I'll reply tomorrow.

Btw my favourite solo fingerstyle guitarist is Tommy Emmanuel - and I'd hopethat you can see where I come from haha if it's possible.

About the "left hand": it was just an assumption. Being a guitarist myself, I find that the change between two different fingerings (say, between a Gmaj and a Bmin) is the hardest part and if you're too slow at it, it breaks the song because it creates a pause where there shouldn't be one. Maybe it's intentional in your songs; when I do it, it's because I fail at doing it correctly.

And about the "variation" comment: I don't mean repeating the same part over and over. I mean diversifying the themes you select and build the song around it. (I find that hard to explain in a language that isn't my own.)

I like the third movement best. By far. Still very chaotic for my taste - I like clear transitions and separation of a song's parts - but it looks like that's what you're going for

I don't think I have a left hand problem in this case

:D Among everybody I gave it to, they either liked the first most or the last most... Btw it was waaay more chaotic than this to the point where I hated it me so I toned it down haha till I was satisfied.

But I still don't get this part, could you try PM-ing me it in German?

Or put it out here and hopefully someone will translate it if I don't understand? :D
