Actually this came as a massive shock to me. I was one of the prize winners at a competition for figure-based photos in one of my local figure shops (www.nonno21.com) I haven't been there for a while because their monthly markets kept clashing with an anime convention I attend.
I was browsing their blog today and it turns out they've used my photo for their official 2012 calendar. (I'm not bothered about not being asked because tbh it's really flattering. Also I am appropriately credited on the images themselves.) I'm going to go in today to see if I can snag a copy. Here's the photo in question;
(Thanks to Vek for helping me pick the image to submit in the first place.)
[EDIT]
I just got back from Nonno21 with my calendar. The awesome thing is I'm actually featured twice! I didn't know, but they also added my back up submission plus a photo taken by another TL member (Cgivisionary) using 2 of my nendoroid puchis :D

Thanks for all the comments of support ^_^ It really made my day.

Congrats though, your photo looks awesome in the calendar.
^____^ It was definitely one of the most fun shoots I've done. The weather was just right, and the figures actually co-operated for once instead of falling into ditches and stuff. I'll see what I can do :D

*Shrugs* I really don't care since I already got my prize for the competition, and these calendars are actually given as service to customers and not sold most of the time. Also they probably didn't ask because none of the staff really speak English.
I feel like they should have asked you for permission, but it might have been in the fine print when you entered the competition anyway that they can use it. I hope they printed your name >_< But congratulations! It looks really good!! :D

Yeah it probably was, but since it was all in Korean I have no idea ^_^ They did use my name - it's the Kerry-nim bit at the bottom ^_^

This kind of attitude is one of the reasons many professional photographers are plagued by this kind of thievery. Just last week there was a little controversy surrounding the pictures taken by a finnish professional photographer, which were published by a finnish newspaper on their website and later the same website screencapped for use on major US newspapers. Hell, the screencap's picture was even credited wrong to the finnish newspaper. Unless you agreed to let them use the photos for commercial use when you signed up for the commercial, i'd sure as hell demand *some* compensation. You DO realize that SOMEONE is making money off that calendar?

No offence, but would you just drop the issue please. I really don't care. I'm *not* a professional photographer, and I'm just pleased to see a hobby of mine being recognized as something useful. It makes me happy to think that other vocaloid/figure fans in the local Korean community will see my work in this way. I have been credited on the calendar and I'm fine with the use of my photos as long as they're credited. This blog isn't about discussing copyright issues, it's just to share my own pleasure at seeing my work in used in such a nice way.

Congrats!
Yeah, she's really cute in person. I took one of my dollfies (plus my Oreimo Azone.) to one of their flea markets and we posed them all up with her. The guys were all taking photos XD.
You are so lucky. My Nendoroid photo is one of the winner list of "Wonderful Hobby Life For You". The prize I got is a custom display base, the custom figma parts that supposed to be the prize seems doesn't come :D

Wow, congratulations on that. I loved some of the photos from their competition. It's a shame the parts never came though :S
I remember you posting about a contest that combined your passion for modeling and photography. Sounds like this is the same one, anyone I'm not surprised that you were one of the winners because you're so passionate about both.

Thanks :D I don't do it often since being on my own means it's a bit difficult to transport the larger figures and also I'm kind of lazy. However, here is my other stuff;
I've never had a pc that was good enough to use for gaming. I'd love to give it a go in the future though. Back home I have a PS1/PS2 and Gamecube, but here I only have my humble DS.
