Yahoo! I finally regained my motivation and power to practice and improve.

For the last 2 weeks I had health issues, internet issues, motivation issues, you name it! I played only a couple of games per day. But now it’s all a thing of the past because I started out this week playing 20 ladder games and winning about 60% of them.

Today I’m also practicing full-time and getting better and better every game. In the beginning my mechanics were rusty after those 2 inactive weeks. Now my Zerg macro is a well-oiled machine. I still experience bumps and slips, but I’ve more-less reclaimed my pre-crisis level of play.

I’m experimenting with muta play vs Protoss Inspired by Day9 Daily about Dimaga’s ling muta ZvP style. Some toss players can’t handle the pressure and don’t know what to do. Others handle it well but still are pinned back, giving me time to build up a 4-base economy.

This style has a lot of potential, but is very difficult to execute. I’ve had a lot of success when executed it well, but also lost a lot of games just because my mechanics weren’t good enough.

The big thing is to make +2 +2 lings and harass with ling muta from 2 sides. This makes it impossible for Protoss to secure a 3rd base. Then I transition into Ling + Roach + Infestor + Brood Lord army. Those melee upgrades power up my Broodlings, so they’re worth it long-term as well as short-term.

Love that style. It’s very fun to play. Also, challenges me to improve my APM.

I’m still out of Internet at home, but it doesn’t matter. Nothing can stop me when I’m fired up to practice my ass off. I’m at my friend’s extremely cold house, wearing 2 pairs of socks and 2 sweaters.

Practicing full-time, babe! :-) :-) :-) Life is good!

There's another way to play that style which I learnt from machine's stream.

You max out on mutaling, take bases on the whole map and put up a ridiculous number of spines. When the protoss attacks, just go for a base race. You'll win most of the time as the mutaling army has higher dps and moves much faster. Also the protoss will have to kill way more bases to win, since the mutaling style pins him back mid game and allows you to take the whole map very easily.

Very fun style.

I fucking hate playing against that in pvz. The zerg harasses you with muta or you max and you just go "screw it" and attack... and then the zerg runs into your base.

Sounds like a cool variation :-) I'll try it out first time I get the chance!

Try adding in speedbanelings, it makes the ball have even more dps, it is difficult once he has high templar though so an ultralisk transition at some point is quintessential.
say you were born into a jungle indian tribe where food was scarce...would you run around from teepee to teepee stealing meat scraps after a day lazying around doing nothing except warming urself by a fire that you didn't even make yourself? -rekrul

Baneling ultralisk? I dunno, I didn't have much success using ultras in ZvP. They're way too susceptible to forcefields and chokes. I'd much rather go for roach infestor broodlord and add some baneling drops to the mix.

Unless ... do you have a replay of someone making baneling ultra composition work? I'd loove to see that cause I have no clue how to make it happen
