Hi. I'm Matt and MLG Orlando was my third MLG trip, having already gone to Columbus and Raleigh. I chose not to really post anything about them because I don't think had anything all that interesting to say. Columbus I basically just watched the games and went back to my room to sleep as soon as it was over. Raleigh was a bit more interesting, with me being able to meet and hang out with a lot of different people while trying to not be too much of a bother, as I'm just some random guy. I think people ended up just knowing me for my blue Mets hat that I'd wear everywhere. Orlando was more of that, but with a few really exciting (at least for me) moments that I figured I'd share. It was also nice for me because it was the first time my brother and friend came along as they wanted to see it for themselves after me telling them how much fun I had at the previous ones.
I guess the biggest thing for me this weekend (and probably for a lot of people) was meeting White-Ra. I didn't want to be one of the hundreds of people keeping him by asking him for autographs or pictures, so I elected to just shake his hand and say congrats after one of his wins. Later on Saturday night I was with my brother at the bar that many of the players/staff would hang out and we saw White-Ra and HasuObs on the other side of the bar so I decided that I'd go offer to pay for their drinks, as I'm big fans of both. It turned out they were also with a third person and when I asked he said "No no we already order!" I still offered to pay for it and he then said "OK, you like tequila? Patrón Silver?" I said sure and he immediately said "OK" and pointing to each of us said very loudly "YOU YOU YOU YOU ME, FIVE SHOTS TEQUILA RIGHT NOW" and slammed his hand on the counter. I already had a beer in my hand so I thought about it for a second but really taking a shot with White-Ra is not something I ever get the opportunity to do, and it's very difficult to say no when he is so insistent like that. Little did I know that he was going to actually stop and talk to me many more times over the course of the weekend because of this. He told me he'd give me a shoutout on his stream the next time I'm watching it which is cool enough. But the coolest thing ever was Sunday night after the long afterparty he sat down and talked to me and a few other people for a couple hours, with Tasteless even joining for a little while. At the end of the night as I was about to go to sleep. He pulled what I had thought for hours was some kind of rag off of his shoulder and gave it to me saying "This for you my friend. My last jersey." I was literally blown away and I think asked him 4 or 5 times if he was sure and he said yes absolutely every time. I still couldn't believe it but thanked him many times and finally said goodbye and went to bed. White-Ra you are absolutely the coolest and nicest person I have met at any event/con/whatever ever. Thank you so much!

Aside from that, I also got the opportunity to help wellplayed out at this event because they had almost no one to cover the event and wanted help from people who had been to MLGs before. I offered to help and they accepted. Shoutout to those guy to letting me help them out; I hope I did well enough for them. I don't really have the nicest camera (not an SLR or anything) but I ended up having the best camera of the three of us there so I was taking most of the pictures that were posted on their site (sorry if the quality is bad), but if you want to see them you can check out the albums that they posted. The really cool part of that for me though was having a press pass so I was able to sit in front. I ended up sitting next to djWHEAT's son a few times and he is absolutely the most adorable kid ever, especially holding up his MarineKing poster every time he played.
I don't really have much else to say except for thanks to literally every single player, coach, MLG staffer, and representatives from all their respective sites that I got a chance to talk to or hang out with for taking the time out to talk to me. You're all awesome and meeting and talking to you guys is what makes going to these events a ton of fun.
See you in Providence.

It's easy to be remembered as the guy with the Mets hat because everybody else is too ashamed to wear their's around.
Next time I'll have to spy for the hat on stream I guess and be like, "That's the dude with the baller shirt and bad taste in baseball teams."

Haha, thats awesome. Glad you had fun man!

Very cool. I find it fascinating how a little thoughtful engagement with pro players is often met with friendliness. So many cool guys playing starcraft.

awesome blog, never been to a MLG yet. Was supposed to go to Providence but can't finally. Hopefully next year. White-ra is such a baller. I got to meet him one day

Great blog post! I'm Scraps the WellPlayed writer that was covering MLG Orlando and you definitely worked hard and produced a ton of content. It was my first MLG event and you certainly showed me the ropes and were a lot more confident dealing with all the celebrities.
Don't forget to tell them you filmed our interview with SaSe after day 2! The quality didn't come out that good because we were outside in the noisy hallway, but your camera quality was fine and the interview was successful.
WhiteRa seemed to be slightly drunk later on Saturday night, he came up to me and some others and was randomly shaking hands with us and saying sentances in half Ukranian and half English, it was hilarious. I guess we have you to thank for him coming around as silly as he did!
Cheers!
