I'm still confused. Is the Team Liquid Meetup still happening on Friday?
Also, Diggity is saying that the Ultimate Barcraft at Blizzcon is about the community coming together. It's for the community. How come the organizers behind the event aren't sharing the cost break down for the event (how much money for food, rentals, honorarium, bandwidth etc). If it's for the community, shouldn't the organizers be more transparent and share the information with the SC2 community?
With other community projects, such as bringing MKP to Orlando, OrangeMilkis had the exact breakdown of the costs and shared it with the community. Heck, he even had the community decide how to spend the money on MKP (first class vs economy, etc). It would be nice if the Ultimate Barcraft organizers could be more open and transparent. After all, if the event is for the community, shouldn't the community be in the know and have some input?

No, TL meet-up was always Saturday this year, and hence turned into the Ultimate Barcraft.
Ibsen I sent you an email (you SHOULD know who this is ) let me know how I can help.

The Team Liquid Meetup was renamed Ultimate Barcraft. The idea was to help promote the Barcraft movement and make this event easier for non-TL affiliated people, teams, and organisations to take part. In retrospect the Barcraft name has been what many people want to focus on and has been a bit of a distraction.
I like your idea about transparency in the planning process. Next time when we start planning this (this year was around March), I'd be happy to approach the community about potential locations and possibilities. Unfortunately by the time people usually want to talk about a BlizzCon event everything is already booked. I'd love for everyone's input on how to achieve a greater community involvement as well.

I'm very confused at the hesitation of the community to support this event. The formula is simple:
Community get-together + interaction with progamers and leading industry professions = AWESOME!
I'm reading comments on reddit about how "barcraft" is a misuse of a term, and how this is more of a "fan convetion". Really?
What is there to question? The event is backed by Team Liquid, Twitch TV, and have confirmed attendance from people at IGN, NASL, MLG, and every other major ESPORTS organization the community supports. I know these guys have been planning this event well before MLG Anaheim, and were running around like mad during MLG to get this thing off the ground. I would estimate this has been in the works for many months, if not a whole year.
Can we have nice things for once?

As a person involved in the barcraft movement since its inception, I am very honored that Joe has picked barcraft to feature for the party he's putting together at blizzcon. This event certainly has its heritage in the TL meetup from last year, but with a BarCraft twist, I am sure it can become even more entertaining.
This is going to be great. Even if you hestitate now, drop by or tune in. The StarCraft community will be surprised again.

This might be a bit of a trivial question but how much has been donated already? I am not familiar with chipin.com but the bar on their donation page hasn't moved up from $500.50.

Atm i think its ambiguous on whether or not donation is necessary - no one really knows wtf is happening with the event. More disclosure and publicity is needed before whinging about details.
