Hey.....after playing for awhile, zoomin around on my keyboard and mouse, my wrists tend to get a little sore, or bothered. It's more or less from them coming into contact with my desk and resting (*I'm pretty sure this is bad*)
The area that gets affected is right at the end of the hand where it meets the arm, and that little part that sticks out a bit on the wrist
My question to all of you is:
Do you know if there is such a thing as gaming wrist bands? For PC players of course..
I feel like if I had some kind of wristband it would just relieve some of the friction my wrist gets after playing a lot
I tried googling it but a bunch of nonsense comes up, leading me to think there isn't such a thing available. Since you all are gamers here (for the most part) I'd like to hear your experiences or thoughts with wristbands..

Why not try wearing a loose wristband and see how it feels?

That thing?
+ Show Spoiler +just kidding. I have never heard of what you are talking about, but I know how to make an easy fix. make one out of some Velcro and plastic. Always wanted to do so myself. Also I have in the past put some medical/athletic tape on the area. (can be bought at any drug store) Like so ![[image loading]](http://i51.tinypic.com/zus28i.jpg) ![[image loading]](http://i55.tinypic.com/2qa1o3o.jpg)

Cut a hole out of the end of a sock and roll it up till it makes a wristband. Roll it as tight or loose as you want it. Try it out to see if you like the feel when playing with it.

I use athletic wrist bands. They were like $3 at Walmart and work great for that on the mouse hand. I was having the same problem. They are white so you could buy a sharpie and write some cool gamer stuff on them to make them gaming wrist bands.

I need this too. I have a terrible callous on my wrist. It looks like this..it's really gross. + Show Spoiler + Work on computer all day + Starcraft all other free time will get you that If you look at pictures of pro gamers they have them too. Really need some kind of item to keep this from happening.

I have to use a wrist band now because my wrist hurts so bad. It does not effect my play at all, and feels much much better when I have a band on it.
If you go to my justin.tv you can see me play with it on, and what i have there is only a strap to put pressure on my wrist that is all you need, I tried a glove and stuff and its not confy to play with to be honest. www.justin.tv/seizethedaysd and you can get an idea on what i use.

Any regular basketball wristbands will do.

I think that the best way to solve your problem would be to take breaks or change your keyboard setup. It seems from the OP that you play a lot and without breaks. I would suggest for you to take breaks to loosen up your hands every now and then. Better yet, do Day[9]'a stretches before games. However, if you do take breaks, you might need to change your keyboard/mouse setup so it fits better. I think that getting a wristband would only be a temporary fix to your problem.

Urgh that is gross >.< But I think mousepad improvements can also help, at least it did for me.

Buy a couple eggs of silly putty and squeeze it for like a day. This has been my remedy for whenever my hand/wrist hurt.

You think he'd wear a hole through his wristband or something?
If the wristband covers that particular spot, then it seems pretty permanent to me.

It will help a little with the pressure, but wristband padding won't fix carpal tunnel.
It's fairly common for people who do a lot of everyday typing to wear plain old wrist splints: You really won't want to game with those on though, as they would limit your dexterity.
|
He isn't talking about carpel tunnel. He is talking about how his hand rubs on the mouse pad as he moves his mouse around, which irritates the "pisiform" (bottom part of the hand furthest from your thumb that sticks out a bit)

Get a mousepad with a cloth surface, that should do the trick.

I never thought that I'd ever see athletes tape used in e-sports, but I guess I was wrong!

Hmm I suppose wristbands could help. Personally thought I don't see the need for them, feels better without them anyways while keyboarding. I usually just work out a decent amount, so I guess it makes up for the computer usage (and I've done 8+ hours straight of SC a lot before... in series too).
Basically my point is it may be good to not only wear things that might help with your wrist posture, but also to take active steps to counteract the effects of mass gaming.
