So, here I am, with about 2 weeks left until the beginning of school again...

...and I am BORED OUT OF MY MIND.

No idea why, just insanely bored. There's nothing to do because all of my friends live sort of far away and are occupied with stuff to which I have little idea because they don't pick up their cells and are not on social networking--the works. Tennis is the main sport I enjoy, but it's very boring to practice alone (it's not like I'm any good anyway), and the season is finally starting back up after the ~1 month hiatus.

Wasting my life on the web has gotten sort of boring because there's not much to do...I can't watch esports 24/7, I dabbled slightly in TF2 (pretty garbage lolol), and it has generally been really boring after the summer program (which was absolutely amazing).

Unfortunately, there is a significant amount of summer homework waiting for me as a high school junior......yet I am sooooo bored I can't find it in me to do it. haha

Also trying to skip calc AB and go straight to BC. Even the super-smart kids at my school have trouble with AB for some reason, while almost everybody who is halfway decent at math skips AB elsewhere Not sure why. Most kids at my school take AB before BC, and the teacher teaches both, BC is taught assuming that AB is already taken.........

I'm feeling very insecure because so many kids have a hard time with AB at my school. Also, a few kids are skipping AB as well this year (which is very rare as I mentioned), and they took this year's calc AB test after having studied for it a bit....unlike me. :| I'm also not very good at math in general in the sense that I can't make AIME and don't study competitive math (so obviously I'm not going to get anywhere)...ugh. On top of it all, I got a fucking 790 on SAT II math quick pretty much guarantees that I'm retarded, but I don't want to retake it.

Also feeling insecure about the PSAT because I took the SAT as sophomore (oct) and haven't even looked at anything to do with the SAT for essentially a year. I did well on the SAT I, so it feels like there are prior expectations in place....BUT PSAT scores tend to be lower, and again I haven't even looked at anything to do with SAT, so I feel sort of scared...will have to go study a bit or something.

While I'm still talking about academic topics: I feel sad that two other kids from my piano teacher (who doesn't even have that many rising senior students) got into freaking RSI, and a third guy whose name/face I recognize from piano competitions also got into RSI. All three of them go to the same school. I'll give you three tries.
+ Show Spoiler +
Harker.

Sort of makes me feel like a noob. I sometimes wish I were a genius. A socially functional, chill dude, but a genius. Just wish I were really, really smart. EQ+IQ.

Hmm, what else is there...OH ROGER FEDERER FOR THE WIN AT MONTREAL! WHOOOO!!!

Oh, and I really, REALLY want a new laptop (I'm on a 6-year-old dell inpison 1720 laptop--my only comp ofc--with core 2 duo 1.67 gHz, 2 GB RAM, all that crappiness)....preferably one I can take to college. I found this sexy beast, but parents absolutely refuse to get me a new laptop....also I'm used to 17" and will only settle for desktop replacement beasts, so I'm not going to find a comp for much cheaper

I don't have Microsoft Office on it anymore because 2007 just died on me for some reason, so I'm stuck with OpenOffice and Google Docs...so there's another small reason to get a new laptop lol. Might as well get a new laptop with office 2010... It would also be cool to get Win7 instead of Vista.

And that's about it...this is a veritable fence of text. Whoo.

tl;dr
1) bored out of my mind and unable to find a way to amuse myself without completely wasting my time
2) a lot of summer homework but see 1)
3) insecurities about calculus/PSAT/academics in general
4) go Roger Federer~
5) wish I were a genius (but socially-functional + chill genius)

Also it sucks that when I write blogs/narratives, I use first-person pronouns...a lot. I feel narcissistic and quite self-conscious seeing all of these I/me/myself repetitions...lol. Too lazy to change them, though, and it's just how I (urk) write blogs.

Dang, mostly negative stuff again :[

I noticed a while ago that my blog was given the "miserable" tag/title for the URL, and it seems to be holding true to this day.

Ah, I meant I'm garbage at TF2~ TF2 is a fun game.

I will refrain from amending the post because my eyes are already strained, I have a raging headache, and I don't want to compromise the integrity of my entry hehe.

DUDE THIS IS THE ROGERS CUP!!

If you could somehow go and watch, that would be amazing!!! :O :O

but only if old man Roger wins

I actually thought about telling you about since it's in Montreal, but figured that a PM would be too awkward and that bumping a random blog of yours would be awkward as well, so I just didn't do anything. ^^;

@Torte de Lini: Yesyesyesyesyes!

Do you follow tennis, by any chance? I wonder because it seems sort of random that you would suddenly want to go watch it (even though it is one of the semi-majors of the tour :3), but if you do follow tennis then you would know about it...!

https://tickets.rogerscup.com/Montreal/index_en.html

I'm not sure about the whole ticket-buying process, though, because I've never attended a pro game myself, sad to say. The tournaments are all located too far away.

@Malgrif: yeah, but I'm so boooored~~ /whine

Some of it is ridiculous though.

Taking AP Physics B (C isn't even offered at my school), and we have to: read 2 books (both of our choosing, and one just has to have to do with science); go out for a minimum 1 hour hike; spend a day without using any electronic device; learn the names of 6 plants and 6 birds in the neighborhood; and fill out observational logs for 3 plants and 3 animals (complete with sketches and illustrations of animal tracks etc.). Remember, this is physics.

I can imagine what you're talking about, though...*sigh* I wish I had productive things to do, now that I do have the time, but I'm just so bored that I don't want to do anything.... ;;

All I can say is, I have a learning problem when it comes to math, and I brute forced my way through studying for the BC test with a few friends (no calc offered at my crap high school), and I passed with a 3. SO if I can do it, you can do it! :D

Over the summer in prep, I'd just learn what a limit is really really well...

Realizing your bored is probably the best motivation in the world. IF your in the indoors type (u know the i have no life but the internet type) Logic Puzzles are probably the best ways to get you thinking. After completing one or two, i usually (~85% of the time) feel immersed in thought (trying to complete a logic puzzle in a timely fashion makes my brain hurt lols). That should get you motivated to do math...

By the comment you made about formula1 do you mean you go to the race tracks live to catch the races, or do you just watch it on the TV?

Dude, I know the feeling. I get no work at all for the summer (my university course is mega doss) and I am injured, so I can't climb as much as I would like, so I have taken up slacklining to pass the time, and it is AWESOME! just find some random crazy shit to pass the time, just be crazy and adventurous!

Honestly it sounds like an MMO would be just the thing for you =P Its a massive timesuck and is a cheap way to socially network if you live in a remote location.

Any other hobbies you're interested in? Lately I've been learning voice accents. I've got 6 of them nailed down so far, with another 10-15 to go. I'm also writing my own D&D campaign setting, acting in community theatre shows, and do a lot of reading.

I don't understand why you are comparing competitive math like AIME, USAMO ect with AP Calc and SAT II Math II. They are on totally different levels. From your worries, can I assume that the academics (*or just math) at your school are very demanding? If not, Calc AB can be self-taught to a proficient level at least for the AP exam. BC is just a single semester of new material. I spent my first semester of Calc BC learning about random "advanced topics".

The difference between 790 and 800 is negligible. Stop being a perfectionist >.>

The PSAT is "easier" in the sense that due to the shortened time frame, you can stay at an optimal mental state for the test's duration. The SAT is more fatiguing and you might just get bored after so many freaking sections. If you're really worried, just study an hour or two the SAT every day or two. I think there were some guides on collegeconfidential by some guy who got 2400 three times.

why don't you make some e-friends
e-friends are always fun
and if your e-friends get boring just find some new ones
also ap calc ab is easy, i never took it but i got a 5 on the bc exam after taking a calc class (not bc calc) just use your head and it'll work out for you... i don't know if just the class at your school is hard or wtf is up
just retake the sat math II if it bothers you that much, i would have retaken it if i got a 790 because kids here make fun of the kids who don't get an 800
i also want a new monitor and an ipod but my mommy won't get me either because i stay up and play games too much, lol
i probably sound like a huge loser and i am, but i'd rather stay in and play games with my e-friends than go out with my rl friends because going out requires moving and stuff
anyways that's my advice, make some e-friends, probably shit advice but hey

Yeah, you should definitely go watch the finals or something if you get the chance~~ Read the article "Roger Federer as a Religious Experience" by David Foster Wallace. RIP Since you live in Montreal, it's an amazing opportunity to see the GOAT play. He is turning 30 and soon may decline further, so I think you should definitely go!

All righty! I really want a 5, though ._. rawr. I know what a limit is from precalc (I think I know it really well, I guess :x). I did okay in honors (roll eyes) precalc with a 96%. At another school nearby, getting 95% allows one the option of skipping AB, but at my school, I have a friend who had a final grade of 110% (albeit not honors) in precalc and was struggling in the AB class...

I will try that. I know what you mean--it sort of gets me in the zone too. Unfortunately I am pretty terrible with logic puzzles haha.

Haha nice! I can't get out much because I'm in high school and my town is sort of a boring place...people are unavailable as I mentioned, and my stamina is pretty bad. I also am ridiculously skinny even though I eat as much as I can.

nooooooo it's completely useless in terms of productivity though :[. I've played many MMOs in my time and most of them just end up with me pissed off that I wasted so much time on them. Also, my computer struggles with almost all MMOs, and I cannot do anything else at the same time so it completely shuts down work.

I don't live in a remote location or anything--Bay Area California :D--it's just that no one seems to be available.

One hobby I have is SC2, and I've been watching an absolutely ridiculous amount of it...which is baaaaad

Offtopic: are you a regular in the ADT?

Ah, I wasn't trying to compare them, sorry. They were just juxtaposed because I thought I might as well lump all of the academics in one section. Obviously they're nothing alike. I'm just depressed about both, lol. Anyone halfway decent at math should be able to skip AB, get 800 SAT 2 Math II, and make AIME. I have not accomplished the last two and am worried about the first. I did sort of lump them together but did not mean to compare them--sorry sorry!

I have heard that the two are functionally the same, but it's definitely very bad compared to almost everyone....I know people who scored pretty badly on all tests but still managed 800 in SAT Math II.

Yeah, I'll definitely study for the PSAT. I got a 2400 on the SAT I so I'm worried about how worse in comparison my PSAT will look. I didn't study too much for SAT, but I was definitely in the mindset to take it, so I'll definitely have to prepare for the PSAT again. It just feels burdening when added to all of the other stuff that must be done and weighs on my mind. ._.

I'm a regular in the ADT in the sense that I visit it very regularly, but not in the sense of being accepted, because I don't really participate in their IRC, nor do I watch/read as much as they do in general. I just like to hop in and chat. I know enough to understand all of their discussions, but not necessarily enough to actually participate. Each of them has their own little quirks as well, but I don't like loli or yuri or what have you.

This has been the case for the past few summers, but I only really started to care a few summers ago...I'm enjoying the stay though hehe. It just sucks because the school year is quite busy, and I finally get here only to be bored. A mere 2 weeks are left, and I'm not enjoying it as much as I would like is the issue. ;;

Yeah I have no idea either. "wtf is up" is exactly what I'm thinking about BC. Also, I do want to retake the SAT II, but don't want to go through the whole process of sitting through it all over again, though...grr.

And hey! The only part of that post in which you sounded like a loser was the part in which you said that you sound like a loser >:[ Don't think of yourself that way! And make some IRL friends too!

I do have some e-friends and am fine with it at the moment, though. Probably shouldn't make more because that will only lead to more time-wasting on the Internet
