As such, I suck. I don't suck like "aww, I'm supply blocked, I suck so much." I suck like, "I need to have missile turrets around every square inch of my base so I'll be safe from drops."
Well, I don't suck quite that much anymore. At the moment I am a platinum terran, with real aspirations of being promoted to diamond in season 3. But when I started I was a low ranking bronze player.
So why am I writing this? It's not for your benefit, believe it or not, though you may get something out of it. I am going to be using this blog as a way to focus my practice, and more objectively evaluate my performance to improve my own play as steadily as possible.
So here's the breakdown of my play so far: I started my SC2 journey as a Terran player, and played about 500 games, moving up from bronze to silver to gold before getting a bit bored of Terran and switching to Zerg. I played about 400-500 games as Zerg, continuing to be stuck in gold, before I was inspired by an RL friend who was promoted into the Master's league. I realized that if I really want to improve, I needed to pick a race and stick with it. Hone my mechanics, focus on refining just one build for each match up, and learn how games play out from there.
Since switching to Terran I've been promoted into Platinum, which definitely testifies to the efficacy of choosing a race and sticking with it, and I'll be working to get into diamond, with the ultimate goal of becoming a Master.
So here's what you can expect to read if you decide to follow this blog. each day I play (which is not every day), I will focus on my matches from a specific matchup. How did the game play out, how did I perceive it as it progressed, and what did I glean from the replays?
With that, I'm off to hit the ladder!
