Hey,

I have just one question- does anyone in Bronze know how to do anything but Mass Voids or Mass Marines? Really.

Yeah, I'm in Bronze (hopefully promoted to Silver VERY soon), but please don't immediately post a comment saying something about me being a n00b and not knowing what I am talking about.

I am getting really annoyed- I personally hate massing units, or even the idea of it, and I personally do not do it, but almost everyone else in Bronze does.

What about Zerg players? Zerglings.

It's starting to get annoying. Very annoying. Actually, I hate it.

I'm hoping to get into Silver an not have to worry about it as much.

I have been practicing with my team though for counting these, hopefully that will get me on a winning streak. I personally only lose about 1/7 games, and I have winning streaks often.

Thanks!

You're gonna have to get to like plat before people start playing more with mixed unit comp.
In Hungry Hungry Hippos there are no such constraints—one can constantly attempt to collect marbles with one’s hippo, limited only by one’s hippo-levering capabilities.

what kinda build are they going? is it like a one base 2 rax or something? if they aren't even building medivacs and it gets a bit later in the game it's easy enough to clean them up with banelings or even roaches(maybe). Might as well post a replay so we can give more detailed advice.

Oh, great. thanks for that information though.

I'm hoping that as I rank up I will see less and less of massing units though.

I play Terran and Protoss, and I mainly try to go vikings v voids, and tanks v marines

Personally, I kinda want to dig myself down to bronze just so I can screw around with opponents like those. In custom games, everyone leaves after seeing my ladder rank. There's so many wacked out strategies that I wanna try out. Enjoy bronze while you can, because once you are in diamond/masters, making the choice to go to bronze is difficult since getting all the way back takes a while.

Well, I want to get up there because no one respects me in the StarCraft II community, and recruiting Diamonds with a Bronze account for Team Immortal is weird too.

The problem is that they're viable strategies against some players. I'm currently in bronze, though have been facing more silver and gold players lately (so promotion soon I hope) and I'll transition to mass voids if there is no pressure from mid to late game.

If they were scouting or applying pressure, I'd have no means by which to throw down all the Stargates and start working putting a force together. All depends on scouting.

I usually Scanner Sweep/ Observer early, and I still have some issues. Although, I prefer Observer, since it is permanent. =)

Well thats how it goes. It's quite painful to lose to mass voids and rines initially. But once you know it's coming, they're probably the easiest things to stop. Scouting can help you rofl stomp this. When you send your scv in, and you notice either gas first, or a quick double gas it's either dts, or voids or blink stalker. for mass rines, the signs are quite obvious.

Keep your scouting scv alive, do the shift click thing around the base atleast at look at him from time to time.

From my understanding, in Bronze, they will follow the standard build order (for Terran, 9 depot, 12 rax, 13 gas, 15 orbital) and they will get gas...even if they mass marines (omg reactors let me get 2 marines!?!?1?? op i make reactors)
When I was in bronze, their mass void included a delayed 2nd gas too. It's very weird. Against mass marines, they would double gas.
I know you mean the best for the OP, but at bronze, scouting doesn't really do anything (besides for cannon rush, proxy gateway/rax)

@OP-It would help a lot if you told us what race you were. If you were terran, perhaps I can say something like "Make marines and tanks", but if you were not terran, it wouldn't help at all.

You're in Bronze. The primary aspect of Bronze-level play is a failure to macro well. Sure, they also play with gimmicks and cheese, but the main reason one stays in Bronze is not being able to defeat those, by the more-or-less invulnerable strategy of having more stuff.

Marines and voids are easy-tech-path units that can shoot at anything and grow in power in groups, and massing them is way easier than managing to tech and build an army composition. I know, I did it and and finally pushed to Silver, where it's pretty much the same.

GL with the progress, though. Help promote standard play.

I never really had that kind of situation when I was in Bronze league (However, I must tell you that the first two games I ever won were in a row against the same player on the same map, and both games I massed Void Rays and Attack-moved to victory). As you are encountering these players who make only one kind of unit, just scout it out and get the unit that counters it, the harder the counter the better. Mass up those units, attack, and win.

If all 3 races are only making 1 type of unit it should be quite easy for you to win every single game. So by your logic you should be in silver soon :D best of luck to ya.

Be glad if someone masses only one unit, that means a quick victory for you. You know every unit has a counter right?

Duh that is why you get another sc2 account and name it something outrageous. That way when you destroy people they kind of face palm.. (sotg reference btw.)

bronze is so much more fun to play in. I'm high diamond and I enjoy intentionally losing 4s with my friends to get into bronze and just do stupid stuff and win more than playing at a high level where you can do so much less and there is absolutely no margin for error.

there's just something magical about choosing 4 T, worker rushing with first 6 workers, all 4 lifting off to the golds and then winning the game 40 min later. Or going 1 base no other unit carriers/BC/nukes/whatever that will never work against any competent opponent.

It's just so much more fun to stomp all over baddies than play people your level

I have figured out recently just proxying a Barracks with a Reactor,or a proxy Factory with Tech labs works vs these strategies because the opponent thinks "Wow! They aren't building counters, n00b. And I quick counter attack their attack. Then, the opponent RAGE QUITS. =)

when I first started this game after playing the missions i had a lot of trouble with this type of play also but very soon found that the only way you can really loose to someone who tries to go mass one unity is to not scout it. if you are zerg then send an overloard every 2-3 min. if you are terran then use a scan, if you are protoss then you get to just sit an observer in there base! lol. I am guessing that these players you are up against don't attack untill they have a huge mass of x unit they are making so all you have to do is scout what unit they are making and then counter it to vicory.

Yeah, it is easily countered when scouted early- especially in Bronze!
