a great Korean guy did some things for me, and I want to thank him properly on korean. Something along the lines of
"Thank you for your effort to help me out, I am really grateful."
Can Korean speakers help out?

jur-rul do-wa-ju-shur-sir gam-sa-hap-ni-da. Koon do-um-ee dwa-ut-sur-yo. (extremely crappy version of pronunciation) Extremely general statement, basically "Thanks for helping me, it was a big help". What is your standings with that Korean though? My statement is "formal" version, meaning it would be used toward individual older or simple acquitences . If he is friend you know well, casual version is much more recommended in which case you should say. Edit: On retrospect, I'm sure you can google or even do a search here for better results.

I guess if you are e-mailing it to your boss, pronunciation is unnecessary. divito's statement works as well.

There's a reason why people google these things instead of asking it in casual forum, you know.

Doublechecked with Google Translator, but it is pretty crappy I thought so I gave it a shot here. Email is send with 도와 귀하의 노력에 감사드립니다, 정말 감사드립니다.

Um.. you do know that what he posted WAS directly from Google translate? ![]() The phrase doesn't make sense in the beginning.. it's chopped up Korean =/ and not in the right tone.. it's like in the tone of how your bank addresses letters to you, not something you'd say to someone you know.. 도와주셔서 정말 감사합니다. 큰 도움이 되었습니다. would probably have been the best way =/ like Eun_Star said. (btw for those who said 도와주어서, that's the "lower" form - you need to "raise" it to 도와주셔서) Too late to fix the message I guess, but seriously guys, if you don't have an idea, then don't post something that messes up with the OP =T randomKo_Orean's post was an obvious joke, but if you don't know Korean and are just going to run it through a bad translator, don't bother..

Most Koreans love it when foreigners try to use Korean. And trying to use Korean will show more effort than if you had used English. It's just that if it had actually been something where the correct grammar really mattered, some people would have thrown you off =T
