Well, I played a practice league game and lost but only because I left the game. I left the game because my opponent was able to build up a good defense that I couldnt break and I knew eventually he would get over to my areas and take me out.
I also decided to go protoss because thats the race i dont feel really limited by and i like that race. So I need to start learning builds. Actually it would probably be best to get my 4 gate down since that seems to be a fairly simple build and I have already started learning 4 gate. I think i may look at other builds and other strategies like 4gate to become more familiar with Toss.

Yep, spend some time on liquipedia.
Pretty much everyone on TL will recommend that you either learn 1 build and practice it every game until it's smooth, or learn one build for each matchup and practice it every game until it's smooth. Learn 4 gate first, it gets you comfortable with the basics of how protoss works. Then learn how to defend against 4 gate, or you'll be tearing your hair out every time you roll PvP. Versus terran or zerg, either learn a 3 gate robo and use that versus both, or if you're feeling more comfortable with learning new strategies, check out this thread for PvZ and this thread for PvT.
