Day 1: KtheZ, Aurra, Brambled, aznroxorz, and I log on to the new world 5. It is night and very dark. We have a base of sorts near a lake where there is some quality clay along the banks.
We spread to learn about the new rules and updates to the game and try to scavenge for food. Some of our members run into wild boars and are killed, having to then remake new characters. We do find some rabbits and apples eventually to ease our hunger.
The 5 of us take the rest of the night to make a timber house where we can store our items. The house is finished quickly with everyone working together. We then each drift off to sleep . . .
|
Day 2: I log on to find our base zerg rushed. A number of griefers have appeared and seem to covet our quality clay. KtheZ quickly sets up a village claim, which serves to keep non-village members out. The griefers are angry and engage in a number of annoying tactics in an attempt to drive us out.
These dastardly fiends dig up our river bank in an effort to exhaust our nature resource of high quality clay. We try to save as much clay as we can while ignoring their taunts. For someone like myself not used to MMO's, this level of BM greatly exceeds what I have ever experienced in online gaming.
We mostly ignore them, but our paradise has become quickly spoiled by the avarice of men. On a happier note, we are now able to catch delicious lake fish with our newly built boat and fishing poles. We have also found a large amount of chickens and rabbits. Our base is now a meat-lover's heaven.
|
Day 3: All 5 of our group continue to explore the land. Aurra finds some weeds for us that will eventually become seeds when dried. When we start gathering seeds, we will finally add agriculture to our currently predominant hunter/gatherer economy.
The griefers are largely gone, but some alternate accounts have stayed in order to add to the annoyance. These attempts are again ignored.
Some of us set out to fish again when the hunger pangs hit and we become tired of rabbits, chickens, and various grub. KtheZ sacrifices his body to stand in the swamp in order to catch leeches for bait. Stocked full of leeches, we set out and (with varying amounts of success) eventually catch a good number of various fresh water denizens.
In my land explorations, I wandered far to the North East. After traversing through some winding mountain terrain, I find a fruitful and beautiful grove. The soil there is high quality and rich. This would be an ideal place to settle, far beyond the hated reach of the griefers and the over-present Russian threat.
Beyond this Eden, I find a cave entrance. We quickly claim it so our village can develop a mining structure in the future and start procuring metals. After the second day of dealing with the negatives of the game, I have finally started to enjoy the immersion and thrill of exploration in a new land.
|
Day 4: I awaken to find our village claim surrounded and blocked by foreign competing claims. The griefers apparently now seek to prevent us from expanding our influence. Aurra's quick thinking allows him to trap and kill one of the griefers' bots.
These recent actions cemented our desire to move to the Eden I had found the previous day. I try to backtrack but end up getting lost. Our chief is a little frustrated with my poor sense of direction, and nags at me like a menstruating wife on a road trip. Eventually we find our spot and begin a palisade.
A new TL recruit, Gormil, also traveled from afar to join our village. We will continue to add a few TL recruits over time but our goal is a small and efficient operation
Having found a nice spot to settle and a group of dedicated workers, our TL village adventures truly begin. We will face dangers from wildlife, other players, hunger, and Russians. But in the end, we shall prevail. En taro Adun.

Yeah you should NEVER swim in this game lol, swimming is a skill useful only to the suicidal and the characters with 50+ constitution.
Task List:
Aurra:
1. Keep raising change bar and grinding LP. 2. Mine more iron and copper. 3. Make curios!
Brambled:
Slomo: 1. Farm LP, help make some curiosities. 2. Steal ( Frowny face ) 3. Get hunting up. 4. Sericulture. 5. Harden some leathers (MAKE SURE YOU DO THEM SEPERATELY, hardened leather COUNTS as leather in the recipe -_-) 6. Craft travellers sacks (use the wiki and MAKE SURE THAT THEY ARE OVER Q20) 7. Eat more dex food. Lisa: 1. Make several tanning beds and place them in the tanning area. (Q30+ boards) 2. Make a BUNCH of boards. (For fuel/construction purposes) - Keep a cupboard full of them at least. (WE NEED MORE NOW 4/1) 3. Hunt. 4. Skinning.
5. Make a loom (we need Q boards)
6. Make another sling, this time for Tork. Azn: 1. Mining ahoy! 2. Make me a sammich woman (Do some cooking) 3. Make some curiosities with your metalworking. 4. Raise smithing, unarmed combat, strength. 5. Make yourself a pickaxe, then skill basic mechanics as well as locks and bolts, and produce a cellar and a metal meat grinder. 6. Make various metal materials for us.
Me (The delightfully awesome village lawspeaker and cool person #!1) 1. Farm (takes forever, sadness) 2. Make curiosities (cause you guys are sooo lazy) 3. Sit around sipping tea and slapping Azn around. (A difficult task) 4. Tanning after Lisa makes the tanning tubs. (Do it!!@!@!@) 5. Manage recruitment (For some strange reason people are PMing Slow Motion and not ME!) 6. Train combat/teach these weaklings how to fight.
Cub:
1. Raise hunting. 2. Curiosities, my dear watson. 3. Raise exploration to 30, forage. 4. Hunt boars, deer, bears, etc 5. Skill rage, get unarmed.

Everyone: Pave. Gather food. Farm LP. Make curiosities.
Too lazy to update.

Lol, keep it up, Slow Motion.
I tried playing the game but couldn't get into it, but just reading your logs about it is extremely entertaining. ^^

Russians and team liquid have a long history, used to stick it to them in EVE online down in the great wildlands, and I think the hatchery (the newer EVE corp) was at war with a russian corp recently. Make TL proud!

Who needs Rage/Murder to kill bots when you can just place a claim next to them and watch the bot walk around in circles for hours until it starves to death.

Member of the village: feel free to post screenshots of the village and stuff so I can add it to the OP. I'm not good with taking screenshots and stuff.

I'll take the time to post a little adventure of mine in world 4 :D
So I saw a village with a mine and was struck with the idea "Hey! Let's raid them by tunneling through their mine! So I went into a cave of mine, grabbed a bunch of tea and water, and started digging to their mine shaft (which I had scouted and determined the position of).
![[image loading]](http://imgur.com/N5WpG.png)
This is me getting close to the end of their mine.
![[image loading]](http://imgur.com/699Oa.png)
This is about 2/3 of the amount I had to mine to hit their mine
![[image loading]](http://imgur.com/NBCHF.png)
Almost there.......
![[image loading]](http://imgur.com/hfjln.png)
HECK YEAH LETS DO THIS!
![[image loading]](http://imgur.com/4ZgNB.png)
And thus I took possession of the ram I saw within their village boundaries, and rammed down their walls and took their stuff. It was an interesting experience :D
And to people who think this is a harsh thing to do, this is entirely acceptable within the boundaries of the game. If a person is able to get into your village, you had a defense flaw. What is UNACCEPTABLE, however, is mindless griefing just to make people sad.
|
Day 4 Update: Aurra found another cave near where our new village will be! Also we've started hunting bigger game like foxes and boars
|
This is the current picture of our clay base, with the palisade set up. I will edit this post to update and add various pictures.

This is a layout that I hastily drew in MS paint. The blue lines indicated paved paths.
Gormil, take a look at this to see how the pali should be made.

Interesting conversation about skills and roles:
[22:03] KtheZ: oh yeah who plans on getting black skills [22:03] Aurra: black skills [22:03] Aurra: ???/ [22:03] aznroxorz II: my last name is washington [22:03] SloMo: i'm pretty good at basketball [22:04] KtheZ: -_- [22:04] aznroxorz II: I have alot of black [22:04] Auraa: hahaha [22:04] aznroxorz II: not really... [22:04] KtheZ: theft/murder/vand

God damn, you saved that conversion... now all of TL thinks I'm black.
Oh but main village Palisade is up... was too tired to get a SS ;_;.

i thought pvp (or griefing) was very much a part of this game?? I had seen it a few weeks ago but was still obsessed with minecraft. It basically has the adventure component that I wish minecraft would finally get

What I hate is people who hack to get powerful chars and kill you (happened a lot in world 4) and people who abuse certain game mechanics not to steal or kill you but just to ruin your day and annoy you.
For example I consider making a bunch of alt accounts just to block and clog our base up not really in the spirit of the game. But taking the time with actual characters to build a wall around our base and lay siege to it is legit. Both actions may seem similar but I think there is a clear line there.

Update: So we got our palisade wall up in the new village yesterday. The place is really starting to take shape and I'm feeling pretty safe and secure that no one can come and ruin our spot. We've got our hunters working out well and have started planting all sorts of crops in our very fertile soil.
We've also made some metals thanks to azn, kthez, and brambled's hard work in mining metal ore. Gormil also did a great job today in organizing our little section of the village and making it look good. I am OCD and crazy about this kinda stuff so that was greatly appreciated.
One incident did scare me though. While Gormil went out scavenging he opened the palisade gate with the gatekeeper character and then left the gate open. While the gate area is claimed, anyone can walk in and take our stuff if they have "criminal acts" turned on. Sure enough, some random person did walk right in, saying that he lived nearby and just "wanted to look around."
I talked to him and asked him politely to leave. Luckily, this guy was very decent and nice. He apologized and left straight away. He lives up the river on the south side, apparently quite close to us. He expressed an interest in joining us in the future (also this will be impossible as our village is for TL members only) and maybe trading.
Always nice to find decent people when it's so easy in this game to steal and run without a second thought (something I do quite a bit myself). This incident, however, is a reminder to all of us to remain vigilant and remember to keep that palisade gate tightly shut!
20 demerit points for Gormil, minus 5 for his good work in the village today. When a village member reaches 100 demerit points he will be punished in an unimaginably harsh and cruel way. This video should give you some idea of what that punishment might resemble:

Update: I was idling in game when azn informed me that he had found another cave. There was someone already there and starting to smelt ore and mine. Apparently he is from a village 10 min from that location (possibly by boat). I immediately ran to the cave, and proceeded to steal all the ore and processed tin from the unlucky miner. His protests were deaf to my ears as I indulged in the thrill of taking the fruits of someone else's hard work and getting away with it.
In doing so I have realized something about myself. I love stealing. I love quick and easy reward. I love the initial bewilderment and then anger of my victims. I love imagining their frustration and hatred. I think I may get theft in the future and steal quite a bit And hey, at least this guy now learned his lesson about not leaving a claim up. I did him a favor, really.
The guy's claim is now up at the cave. Maybe after I get theft I will pay it a visit in the future

Isn't that "mindless griefing"?
|
Well I didn't mess with stuff that was not valuable and only took things that would benefit my village. I don't think I'd have enjoyed taking/destroying random stuff I don't need just to mess with him.
Then again, I totally see the possibility that maybe I'm just defining griefing and what's right or wrong to do in the game in a way that benefits me and justifies my actions.

It's griefing, but it's not really "mindless." Kind of funny to hear about.

Tips to maximize LP gain:
I think the main target initially is to increase int. If u have more int u can study more and better things. I found a very good way to increase int. First of all u have to put the slider @ personal beliefs to civilization (after first max'ing peaceful of course), that gives u 30% more int. The intelligence buff does not show in the study tab but still counts. For example u have a attention limit of 24 but u can study 31 if int bonus is 7. I think its a bug... but i have no idea.
One way is to find many many blueberries! but this takes a while. But its possible to find some fish! Its hard to catch it. U need a very good hook crafted from a bear bone and a good string. But this is the easiest part of fishing. What i know about it is u have to fish @ night. At the top of the H&H client is a little picture with a little moon.( http://ringofbrodgar.com/wiki/Fish ) read this wiki about the different moon phases when you can catch different types of fish.
Now u can catch with the right lure the right fish. For int its perch or bream.. maybe salmon ( http://ringofbrodgar.com/wiki/Fishing ). But the biggest problem is to find a fish spot. And if u find a spot u can sometimes catch only few fishes.
But we can make blueberry pies in the future! for int and perc. So please dont eat all blueberries u get. Lets start to collect blueberries. Another useful thing is if u eat different food.. i mean like perc, dex and int food.. u need significantly less food. if u need 20 points from the beginning.. eat like one dex, one perc, one str and the rest int food.. u need only 14 points. Yeah its hard for me to explain but i hope u can understand me
The next thing is what to study... ( http://ringofbrodgar.com/wiki/Curiosity_Table ) ALWAYS use Bark Boats! the best way to get LP, if u find with maybe 200 (perc * explor), the best food atm is Peculiar Flotsam, u can find it in the deep water. And the absolute best thing to study is Aurochs Hair! Pls make a alt and collect all hair u can get! It takes 36h and gives u 10000 LP! BASE! But needs only ONE Mental Weight.
If u are not an experience player u have to increase ur exploration and survival. We share the main professions but all players need a basic amount of points in survival and exploration. But this is only my opinion.

Final Update?: My sins have finally caught up to me, and my village mates who were innocent bystanders in all this. I could not resist the allure of the shiny tin, and went back a second time to steal more tin right in front of an angry miner. All was well and I reveled in my criminal success.
That night, however, a mysterious figure with a boar tusk helmet confronted me outside our palisade walls. She claimed to be a bounty hunter. She spoke with me for some time, making not so subtle threats, hinting that I might have tin. Over a course of an hour long conversation, she revealed that she was a ranger who had been recruited to track me over the tin I stole the day before. She kept an eye on me while members of that villages made a trek over to parley.
The envoy of the village was not amused by my glib comments during the talk, although I found them quite amusing myself. However, they demanded that we hand over the key and let them in to take back what is theirs. If not, they would keep the claim up they had over our village goods and ram the walls. Being sure that they only wanted the key to storm our village that much faster, KtheZ and I did not comply. The members of the village then left to get their ram, after firing a warning stone at my poor face.
KtheZ was disheartened that our village was apparently doomed, and decided to forgo the inevitable destruction of our village for quitting the game and focusing on more productive endeavors (SC2). He parted with grace and bid me good luck even though I was the one to ruin his village. I decided to stick around though. As a last act of defiance, I went to the mine in order to steal some more stuff. Maybe I could keep the items and have fun playing the fugitive, keeping one step ahead of my furious pursuers. However, Murphy's Law intervened and I was intercepted by the very people I wanted to provoke and then elude.
They made one last appeal to me. They showed me the construction of the ram and told me that they did not wish to ruin our game. If I complied and handed the key, they would only enter the village to take what was theirs and then leave. I had a hard decision to make at that point. My pride dictated that I tell them to fuck off, let them kill me, the don't give them the key and make them work a little harder to bust our village. I thought the chances of them taking the key, the village, and killing us was high anyways. Why should my last act be to act the fool and give my enemies an easier way to kill us?
However, standing on the azure banks of our river, surrounded by hostile enemies clad in bear regalia and weaponry, I looked upon the beautiful square of our village. Was it fair that Aurra, Brambled, KtheZ, azn, Gormil, Cub, and Frosty lose something they worked at just because I wanted to try something stupid for my own amusement? No it was not. Even if they would probably take the key, the village, and break their promise to let us live, I still had to go for the chance (however slim) that our village could be saved. It isn't fair that my village mates should lose their hard work over my stupidity and arrogance.
So I gave them the key. Then waited outside as they went through our village. In the end, the village I had stolen from was nicer to me than I deserved. They only took what was theirs, dropped their claim on our goods, and returned the key. They expressed in interest in friendship and peaceful contact in the future, and condemned my criminal actions.
Humiliated, chastened, and humbled, I hereby submit this story of how Slow Motion almost ruined the game for 7 of his fellow TL members. I deserve a punishment to be decided by the other members of the village for my actions, to which I shall gladly submit.
In the end, however, our Haven & Hearth Adventures continue. We escaped from the precipice through sheer luck and by the narrowest of margins. Our trials will only make us stronger, just like the indomitable Protoss who were driven from Aiur.
A day may come when the courage of TL members fail, when we forsake our love for Starcraft and break all bonds of forum membership, but it is not this day. An hour (KST) of raids and broken palisades when the protection of our claims come crashing down! But it is not this day! This day, we game! By all that you hold dear in Haven & Hearth, I bid you stand, men of Teamliquid!
P.S.: I still wanna steal stuff from people cause it's so fun. Maybe I'll find a place far from the village to live while I do though. And yes dear readers, in case you were wondering, I certainly am an idiot and do not learn even the most obvious of lessons quickly.

Update: Although the village we stole from has taken back their goods and is content to leave us in peace, the bounty hunter under their employ is not so sanguine. From hours of conversations, I have been able to glean some disturbing insights into her personality. She is a complete psychopath, akin to the Dahmers and Gacys of the world. She gets tremendous pleasure from dominating individuals and making them submit to her will. She also enjoys demeaning then and murdering them is the worst ways possible. Fear and control gets her off.
Also the other members of the village I stole from kept their word and returned our key, the bounty hunter decided to make a copy of her own. She now has the ability to come in at any time and take what she wants. This morning she exercised that ability with great pleasure. She has also taken an interest in me. She will initiate private conversations with me in which she brags about her evil deeds and gives me warnings and advice about the game. I do not know if she sees herself as my mentor, or if she simply enjoys toying with me.
After she took some metal from our village, she ordered me to follow her. I got on her boat with great trepidation. Meanwhile, my village mates scrambled to move our precious items back to the clay base where they will be more safe. In the middle of our boat ride, she stopped the boat. She informed me that I should never get on the back of a boat, as she has the power to kill me and I would have no way to escape. This mixture of deriving pleasure from intimidating me and giving me sound advice coupled with stories of her escapades threw me off guard.
We arrived at the shoreline, and she gave me more advice about hiding the boat while exploring inland. At the end of our conversation, we came to place that was familiar to me. In our earlier treks across the country, our village members and I met a nice individual known as "cheeselover." This man was a peaceful farmer, and aided us through our travels. I believe KtheZ and he became Kin and acquaintances if not friends. I now recognized the area the bounty hunter led me to as cheeselover's little house and garden.
I followed the bounty hunter inside cheeselover's house. Apparently she had visited cheeselover before, and makes a habit of forcing him to give her any items that she desires. Cheeselover had also made the mistake of initially appealing to her with arguments about morality and peaceful behavior. I watched with pity and a certain amount of empathy as cheeselover was forced to bow and scrape inside his own house to avoid punishment. She then proceeded to attack cheeselover after he had given her his items. Cheeselover sought to escape, but the bounty hunter was too fast and knocked him out in the front yard.
She told me to watch as she proceeded to beat on cheeselover's unconscious body and again started to advise me about the need to work on my combat skills. She spoke of cheeselover with disdain and hatred as a useless idiot who could only farm and do the boring work. When cheeselover came to and asked her why, she simply beat him again and told him he did not yet have permission to speak. In private chat, she told me that this humiliation is a great way of dominating people and controlling them and gave me tips on how to intimidate victims. Again, I believed this advice was meant to scare and impress me as much as it was to teach.
She the let cheeselover on his feet and forced him into the house. When cheeselover complied, she beat him down to the ground again and pulled out her sword. While hacking slowly at cheeselover, she told me to pay attention and started to berate the poor farmer. She called him various unmentionables, while laughing at him for being a dumb farmer and said that he was not worthy to play H&H and should go play farmville. She told him that weaklings like him made her sick. Then she landed the final blow.
How to describe my feelings then? I felt like a rabbit trapped in a tiny room with a lion who had just ripped apart a fresh antelope. I also felt like she derived greater pleasure from her vile deeds in having me watch and gloating to me throughout. It was like a horror movie: terrifying yet engrossing. Afterwards, she told me that she loved to humiliate and berate victims as she killed them. Then she told me that when she landed the final blow on cheeselover, she felt chills along her back and a small amount of sexual excitement. After this startling revelation, she laughed it off and joked about maybe "needing some help."
I am trapped in a spider's web, and am too mesmerized to even struggle. I have a feeling she will toy with me for sometime, before I finally meet the same torturous end as cheeselover. Our village members have started training combat skills. The world of Haven & Hearth is a cruel and dangerous place, and we must ready ourselves for the darkness that is to come.
A note to end this update: for the readers wondering about the name of this bounty hunter? Her name is "Freedom." She admitted that this was a contradiction to her character, as she loved controlling and dominating others. However, she then added that maybe being able to completely disregard the feelings of others and their ideas of morality was the ultimate freedom.

Shit dude. Awesome story :D Can't wait to find out what happens next. I wish you all the best!

If so, that must be the single funniest video game experience ever. Yeah it's crazy but I always tell exactly what happened in the game and I don't make anything up. Actually for this story I left some stuff out, like how Freedom loves to "pants" people. Basically while killing victims she will remove their pants so that they show up naked from the waist down. She did this to cheeselover while I watched. Adds to the humiliation and control I guess.

Inner Palisade is back up. Had alittle scare with the bounty hunter logging on, but then logged out.
I've grabbed some of the theft scents and put them in some crates for use.

Update: Last night, members of the village I had stolen from contacted me. They wanted to check up on me and to see if everything is alright. I told them about Freedom, the crazed bounty hunter and what she was doing in our village. Their members immediately put me in contact with the lawspeaker of that village, who listened to my entire story. He was very apologetic, and said that he took his promise to leave us alone after we returned the stolen goods very seriously.
The lawspeaker had me lead him to cheeselover's cabin and the site of his gruesome murder to confirm my tale and to gather clues. I was apprehensive about being alone with a member of the village I had stolen from, and was wary of a setup. However, these individuals were every bit as honorable as they seemed. I almost felt some shame at how fair they acted towards me.
This morning, Freedom contacted me and told me she had been kicked out of the village. I told her that I was the one to report her actions to her village, which she already knew and accepted. She seemed to take my snitching in stride and appeared to harbor no resentment. I got the distinct feeling that no matter how reasonable her words seemed that I should avoid being within attacking distance in the future. The only downside to this whole thing is that there is no witness protection program for (not so) confidential informants such as I.
In other news, Aurra, our best hunter, seems to have died while chasing a boar. This does put a cramp in our food situation, though we have enough reserves and can find enough calories from scavenging to last for some time. Also, I've started stealing again.

Wow, you are quite lucky those guys are so nice.
And lol... For some reason I started laughing out loud at a couple of things, like:
In other news, Aurra, our best hunter, seems to have died while chasing a boar.
and...
Also, I've started stealing again.
Did Aurra get killed by the boar? Or did he like, fall off a cliff or trip and die or something?
|
The boar was really low health and was running away so that's not what killed me (not that specific one at least). There was a big lagspike and when it cleared I was dead. I didn't see any animals or players so I have no idea what happened.
If it was the old LP system I would of laughed it off and gone deforesting to get my stats back but with this new time based EVE style system starting over is so blehhhhh.

We just got our village claim up! It sets in 24 hours, so I am adding a poll on village names to the OP once some of our village members give me suggestions they really like.

If you wish to join our village, you need to PM me (Not post in this topic)! Edit 3/23, We are currently no longer accepting people for a bit, till we expand.
It'd be nice to know your timezone, age, game experience, as well as hours played per week. All of this is optional except timezone.
Edit: Heres a current pic of the village.

How many women in your village? Who's gonna give birth!?
|
Haha, I read this when I was banned and I found it totally awesome. I love the idea of "one chance and that's it, then you have to start again". Harsh, but it really makes decision-making a real joy and actual intergral part of the game.
Talk about mind-games and the forms of trust, especially when it is over the internet.
|
dfadl;faj;fjd;akljflskd who the piss cooked all the meat? I hate you.

Do not touch the birthday cake or wondeful wilderness wurst unless kthez has told you to take it. All other cooked goods are fair game.
Please be mind of trying to eat food appropriate for your skillset. If there isn't any food for your skillset, feel free to eat something to fill your hunger if NEEDED (except for the birthday cake and wonderful wilderness wurst).
Also, be sure to check on the crates by the oven. I usually store the dough in there. All you need to do is plop them in the oven and cook them. If you don't know how dough works, feel free to ask me or read the wiki.

Memoirs of the River: or How I walked to liquidtown
The farm has nothing for me now, lagboars have killed them all, - and I'm left with this crappy plot some chicken feathers and at tobacco plant. My destiny lies elsewhere. Through careful correspondence I find a place full of tlers and decide a journey is in order and the memories of that journey are placed here.
The First Day + Show Spoiler + None of this ground is new, the coasts and rivers haven't changed the things i care to find have. 1 crate and a table of food aboard a boat leaves little space for more than some trinkets to study and tools. I find 2 empty log cabins far to the north of my origin. then finally at the extent of the rivers reach a bleak stretch of bog followed by a forest of thicket. I stop to eat and check my equipment. My people are good with leather everything seems to fit -i can't afford to stop and make more. I find out that carrying something at a crawl in thicket keeps your stamina steady, if you have to carry a boat anyway- why not?
Day 2 + Show Spoiler + I wake up and the boat is empty, won't pretend i'm suprised- everything irreplacible was one me. still -setting up a new claim will take time and i'll miss this seer's bones. The day is nevertheless fine and beautiful. I pull the leeches from my sides fling them into the depths of the river weighted with a stone and tied to my pole. Within minutes I pull my first pike and eel out of the water!
Coming out of a patch of river that ran low and flat through nothing but a clay plain I actually heard the sound of the weapon striking the hide of something before knew what I had stumbled upon. A small rowboat lolled slowly near shore hanging some primitive watervine from it's bow. The boar was stumbling but had yet to fall though many blows had fallen on him. I stopped and watched - I was no longer home. Day 2 late. I stop at an abandoned log cabin and notice a palisaded fortress up the river. Runestones with skeletons - 2 each. Too organized too clean looking and runes i can't make sense of. Nevertheless I built a new table and chair and ate fish until i couldn't walk straight. I've made great time. So much empty forrest I passed a mountain in the shape of a rock. A few nice homesteads sat fatly in the forrest - none of the clearcut that marks the sign of advanced metalwork or huge populations. As far as I'm concerned I would trade my leather for curios and my 1 tobacco seed for 2 of any other, just to spread the deal, I'm on the road full time now. Makes you think different about things like, say chickens or wood, forget stone and metal, i'm lucky to keep a good hide. But i can learn - I've perfected a way to catch the emeralt dragonflys and will soon have many of then to exchange for goods and simple tools.

Direct Translation + Show Spoiler +I was curious how the thief which pilfered me lived... So I decided to track the thief scent. Because radar range was fairly narrow... I hoped that perhaps it was only a newb who decided to learn thieving really fast... ![[image loading]](http://i51.tinypic.com/2cdbac7.jpg) A freaking town. Which is apparently where the thief lives. GG. ![[image loading]](http://i52.tinypic.com/2u4hvsg.jpg) Name of the town is Lost Temple. Looking at the runestone I suspect it is the Russians... ![[image loading]](http://i55.tinypic.com/2wn4qqa.jpg) Is there someone who have been stolen from besides me...? Someone had written a huge sign 'Thief' right on front of the town. Lost Temple is very likely a den of murderous thieves... *tremble tremble* Looking at the scale of what I am against... I better choose to live quietly and throw away grandeur of revenge or whatsoever T.T Only consolation is that this town and my home is far away from each other, which is the fact I am very relieved of...
ROFLMAO our mysterious painter X is giving us a bad rep. (btw, what is up with russian sign?)

Looooool omfg Slomo ROFL!
What a coincidence!
The russian sign, translated, is some russians we stole from demanding we return the stuff we took. They're the ones who paved "thiefs".
I killed them.

Day 15: As another dawn approaches our settlement, I awake to an awful sight; Some raging newbie had splattered the front of our beautiful village with his filthy graffiti, spelling "thiefs". Ignoring the glaring grammar mistake, I asked around our village to better understand who would defile our sacred lands. Lisa (Gormil) piped up, saying that he had memorized the culprits with an alt of his. Moments later, I had the culprits memorized and proceeded to visit the nearby towns that Slomo (Har har) had stolen from. As I had bought the skill murder the previous day, I sharpened my cutthroat knuckles, readying them for a feast of blood that I was prepared to spill. I visited a little village north of us, on the grasslands. Staring at their hearthfires, I did not see the culprit's names. I moved on, to another small village where we had previously taken several bear hides as well as medium quality water. "Aha! Jackpot!" I arose in delight as I found the culprits names shining from their hearthfires, like the glorious sun shining from the sky. What was even better, was that one of them shone in dark green! "Har har har, one of them are online!" I thought to myself, and, in the most cunning and devious manner imaginable, I situated myself behind a rock. It was not long before I saw a man in a bear cape appear at the hearth fire, carrying a boat. I leapt out from my hiding spot and immediately gave him the ol' one-two across the face. He stood there.
And stood there.
I smacked him around once more.
It seems he finally noticed the predicament that he was in. Without uttering a word, he started twitched madly, attempting to escape my grasp. He started running, running away, like the yellow-bellied coward he was. Narrowly avoiding a boar, he ran for several minimaps before his energy started to dwindle, and he slowly became too tired to run. I, on the other hand, had the intelligence to bring with me my trusty waterflask (Which i had dropped in the water several times, damn it!), which allowed me to drink while i chased him. I caught him, and smacked him once more.
He started running, this time with renewed energy. He knew that he was being pursued by the grim reaper, the harbringer of death. If he slowed down, he would die.
Sadly for him, he ran out of energy once again, and I dealt to him another blow.
This time it was too much. His character toppled to the ground and fell unconscious, and he was at my mercy once again.
Thoughts rushed through my head as I pondered the penultimate dilemma, the one of murder. Does this man deserve to die? I thought not, for his crime was a small one. I thought again, this time with renewed conviction. If I let this fellow survive this encounter, he may pose a threat to us in the future. Can I really allow a threat to live?
It killed me on the inside, but, as village chief, I felt the need to do what is best for the village, and to value logic over emotion.
I kicked him on the ground. He moaned as his health bar dropped. I kicked him again. He remained silent, a silence that I will remember for the rest of my H&H days. I smashed his face with my iron knuckles. His blood spilled over my face and my hands. I dealt him another blow. His consciousness faded as death overtook him.
He died. I stared at his corpse. I went back to the village. A necessary evil.

Rocked... if you play with fire, prepare to be burned.
Hopefully the Koreans don't continue think we're Russians >_<. I'm slightly surprised they didn't connect the dots with Lost Temple.
|
I actually posted the link to thread there around same time too. The OP was moderately surprised that 1) it wasn't Russians, and 2) the town seemed to be relatively new - probably due to date of OP - but no more responses. Guess he just passed it off as one of the unavoidable experience in HnH. But you never know- he could secretly plotting his revenge, and refraining from stating so because there are apparently informant (me) within I rather prefer to be thought as reporter, bridge-builder instead. Actually thinking about it the reporter gratuitous with information here has potential to screw people moreso than RL.
Also Russians and TeamLiquid always had an illustrious history . Glad to know you got your retaliation, though It'd obviously have been better to wipe them out all. Killing only one... is there any guarantees that others won't try to get revenge, perhaps with reinforcements?
On subject of Russians, I heard some Korean refer to them as '자연재해 (natural disaster)'. Makes clear how they think about Russians Hmm... maybe I should actually post your tale back to the Korean forum too. Also, if you do not have intention to establish some sort of diplomatic relations with RoK, would it not have been better off if OP was actually kept ignorant? Facade of fear is very effective after all.
Edit: Well, I assume the guy you killed is Russian because

A call to arms my dear Teamliquid comrades!
Join the Lost Templars!
Are you interested in a brutal game of natural selection, complete with perma-death as well as the ability to destroy almost EVERYTHING in the game? Are you interested in collaborating with fellow TLers in massive collaborations, in raiding and in town construction"? Are you interested in WAR?
Join the Lost Templars!
As the most developed TL village in World 5, we are finally ready to take on YOU, yes YOU, as one of our elite spartan troopers! All members are taught in the arts of combat, and are expected to serve time in the village military.
Experienced players are preferred, but we are WILLING to accept new players. However, you are expected to log on and contribute to the village once in a while. We don't want to have a disastrous village full of people taking, taking, taking, and not Giving.
We offer you medium Q (40+) materials (besides metal tho) as well as a fun village to chat with and protection and knowledge.
For the glory of Teamliquid my brethren, let us become a force to reckon with, and let us become the sardukaars, the storm troopers, the spartans of the North!
A Call to Arms my brethren, is now in effect. Join us in our expansion and eventual conquest!
If interested, post here with: How long you've been on TL Role you wish to play Approximate time played per week How awesome you think you are (scale from 1 to 5) Previous experience in the game Guarantee you will give me 3 days notice before you quit the game
I look forward to playing with you all, and may we have good luck in this harsh new world!
Edit: We're located in the mid-north of the map.
|
Guarantee you will give me 3 days notice before you quit the game So what about the event of ragequit after death?
|
Then ill swear at you a little in PM, but I totally understand and will respect your rage.
|
Where are you guys? I might not join the village, but it would be good to trade and stuff, if you're nearby. I'm in the far west, a bit north of centre.
cheers
alfy (aka Dorikas in game)
edit: assuming the site goes up again sometime :D

I used to be a farmer. good luck on your village though ^^ Really? I actually enjoy this method of LP gain much more; All roles are able to contribute curiosities to the game, and botting has basically been eliminated. Theres no more 1000 unarmed bots going around beating the tar out of everyone now.
The new curio system is much more friendly to non-botters. LP is pretty easy to gain if you have curiosities too; I probably make around 50k LP a day, maybe more

Man what the hell. I had a dream last night where I was playing haven and hearth with TL. Somehow we pissed off the koreans so they challenged us to a 4v4 vs MC, MKP and 2 other guys and they destroyed us. I flashed back to our TL village and it was underwater and everyone was dead. I spend too much time reading these forums -_- I've never even touched haven and hearth.

I spend too much time reading these forums -_- I've never even touched haven and hearth. What kind of person would dream about Korean ownage and not think of Boxer. FAIL. :p

On my first day of playing in W5, I was slowly building myself a boat by a river when someone sailed by and queried whether he'd get his boat stolen if he picked some blueberries nearby. I replied in the negative; he came back some time later with some fox meat as a gift. We became kin. His/her name was Freedom.
I never saw or heard from Freedom again after that (in fact, my character died pretty quickly so I lost the kin list anyway), but I'm kind of shocked to read your story, slowmo. I suppose I'm glad that Freedom didn't come track me down, since I'm pretty much exactly like the helpless farmer Freedom shat on.
Hooray for dark ships passing each other in the night.
Part of me thinks, oh, what a masterful bit of roleplaying Freedom has done there. Another part of me is sad and naive and feels bad when people are mean to each other. I'm getting all philosophical here. Why should I play this game as an escape from real life if it's actually worse than real life? If I quit because my vision of a happy hippie commune will never succeed, does that make me a failure because I didn't try hard enough to make one? Why am I drawn to this game, anyway? I play it nothing like you guys. But I suppose RL is the same way and everyone's different and uses their different talents in different ways.
I'm playing with a couple of real-life friends. Our w5 experience is very different from yours, since we keep to ourselves. - Spawned in the world. Made plans for a palisade that was way, way, way too big. Got seeds and a cave. Finished 1/2 of the palisade. Got murdered by some random people (no explanation, no other griefing/destruction of material goods, no taunting even). This was the area I met Freedom at, so I wonder how far we are from each other.
- Spawned new characters at that location and walked very very very far east. Created a smaller (but still rather largish) palisade. Farmed happily. However, we did not claim the whole thing, and are also incredibly unlucky, so some random person spawned inside our palisade. We logged on one day to find a penis drawn on our field and everything destroyed by a fresh character. + Show Spoiler +We put grass over it, but you can still see its outline! lololol We call that village Cocksville now.
- So we moved again; not as far this time. For version3.0, the palisade is quite small and is completely claimed. We have all the seeds from WWWs and are slowly raising their quality. We have a cave but no strength to mine from it.
I wonder how many other Team Liquid forumgoers are still actively playing on their own, or if it's really just you guys.
Thanks to your post, I'm trying to figure out why on Aiur I'm playing Haven and Hearth so much. So many griefers are drawn to this game.
What are my goals? Just to have a cute farm in the midst of a dangerous world, for the thrill of the risk vs. reward gamble? One of my initial goals was to make a Communist paradise just to annoy the creators of the game since they're such flaming libertarians (and say things like "environmentalism is a scourge upon the earth" ROFL). Blah blah blah vigilantism blah blah Robin Hood bla blah court system blah blah benevolent dictatorship blah blah cooperation justice blah blah. But I'm not powerful enough to defend myself, let alone attract others to my commune. I suppose I should sink points into unarmed. I suppose I should be much more focused about getting curiosities, and I should make "get strength to mine" a priority. We're only playing with 2ish people, though.
Do you guys play with alts? With the curiosity system as it is, I feel like I should be grinding bark boats for 10 alts at a time, but I don't want to play a game like that.
Thank you for keeping a journal, though, Slow Motion. It's quite entertaining and your candor is refreshing.

No, we do not play with alts; They're just too damn tedious for us to put LP on; we're also starved for curios without alts, and alts would make it worse.
You guys should find where you are on the world map. If you're close by, we'd be happy to provide protection.
We have around 5-8 active people, i think.

Did alot of curiosity searching + crafting last night. Should be enough to hold us for a day (LAWL). But ya... we need an explorer that just does curiosity searching.
I enjoy exploring but I'm spread out too much as it is.
|
I love exploring!!!
I found my old old location: http://algeralith.info/HavenMap/?x=-14&y=-25&zoom=8 It's between the anime girl and the kirby. Dunno who made them. I've wandered by the Kirby ingame (but only have seen the anime girl via the algeralith map).
I'm still looking for my current location. You'd think it would be easier to find since I know I'm north and east of my old old location x_X
Where are you guys?

Ha, sorry! I sent a pm to KtheZ Looks like quite the adventure yall have had (:

Hi everyone,
I'm a new member to the village. I have been helping with foraging, we never have enough curiosities to study, and cooking. We could really use some new recruits, but the real reason I'm posting is to give an update on the village. It's been growing very rapidly and I have some BIG images to show it off.
This is our village on the minimap. We expanded the palisade, so the old part of the village is the square in the middle top, and then outside of it you can see how we expanded the walls of the village

This is the developed part of the village. We've moved the livestock and the farm outside, and we've been paving the main square of the village. We're adding on more every day.

nice, nice! I'm eager to join and can't wait to start playing with yall (;

So... our cave entrance to the iron cave has been taken over by a village.... I noticed that a member of the village holds onto at least 1 of the keys to the gate because he used it to go in/out of it.... dunno what we want to do about this predicament.
|
ooh i'd love to join if at all possible, as things sit right now i spend most of my time foraging for things anyway, I could definitely help out with that.
right now my char has about 25 exploration and 12 perception, 15 survival 15 marksmanship and should have about 20k unspent LP the next time i login

No problem! I already had a chat with whoever that village is.
Just use your mining base like normal, and try not to kill anyone if you see them :X

Alright guys, I think its time for us to transition into a lifestyle of only raiding. I've noticed that many of us have stopped playing the game, most likely due to boredom.
What I'm proposing to you guys, my fellow villagers, is a transition for our sedentary lifestyle into one of pure destruction.
Of course, I need too assign some people the role of "raid scout" and have them stake out potential targets, as well as build palisade cornerposts in inconspicuous areas and extend them to the enemy walls, and build a ram.
Seriously, lets stop being so bored of the game and start killing people. We play this game for FUN.

nice thread... i saw a post about this game and started playing it, it's everyhting ive been looking for lol.
im the most active out 3 people i know that play, although weve only been playing a couple days.
do you guys have any metal to trade? pm me
BTW - I just read the raid part... Ive got my eye on a town with palisade's but nothing claimed. I wanted to ram it, but without help it might be tough lol. lmk

I was just murdered by people who live at 10, -61

I'm going to be out for a couple of days, so have slo add you to the village again.
|
I don't think I'm going to play any more. Sorry about losing the saw, since that was apparently the worst thing about me dying.

Slow Motion needs to write an epic log about how the village is slowly dying out. Where are you, Slow Motion!?
|
I think I'll also quit the game now; It's no longer fun anymore. Everyone is quitting, and I really can't handle recruiting more people to fill the slots.
Slo, PM me if you want my acc info to go on killing sprees; Or if you want to resign me as LS
I also took the liberty of alt-vaulting all our valuables (pearls and steel) on the gatekeeper alt.
Hope you guys have fun.

Hope you guys have fun. Man I guess it's time to roam around and murder ppl. I personally don't have much interest in running the village, but if some other TL guy wants to take over I'll stay and chill with you guys.
Sorry about the lack of updates, but I've been busy/lazy. In the end it wasn't the Russians or bears that got us, but real life. That is what it means to be a gamer

Uhmm, I apologize if this is a bump. I know this village is pretty much a ghost now -_- but we have a situation. Someone built a ram and tore down our wall, from the Village Outside area.
![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/dSYsK.jpg)
I checked our entire wall, and there was no other break in besides this one. It is so strange. Apparently someone was trapped on the inside?? If it was one of our members, please say so. I checked our curios, and none seem to be missing. But they did fuck with our little pumpkin farm and they killed almost all of our animals, except for 2 cows and 5 sheep.

Sorry guys I haven't been on at all lately. Been rather busy and when I do have time I do not feel like getting on. Hopefully I will be able to rejoin everyone soon.
