Note: includes spoilers of the recent Gisado all-star season3 vs season2 team.
==========
Lately another King has emerged in the world of SC2...
Introducing the OneBaseKing:
+ Show Spoiler +
Like MarineKing who revolutionized Terran's use of Marines, this player revolutionized the extensive use of 1-base allins such as 4 warpgates and 3 gate VRs.
Lacking in lategame prowess, this player has figured out a good system of 1-base attacks to quickly pulverize his opponents so that the games end quickly in his favor.
Gisado season 3 vs season 2 game 16 + Show Spoiler +
Here we get an inside look at the player's personal room:

Not much, tbh.

Very perceptive. + Show Spoiler +
MC finds the quickest way to deal the most damage based on what he sees/map. The question arises is that, why do what everyone else is doing while there is a quicker and more effective way of taking advantage of your opponents disadvantages? i.e 4 Gate vs 1/1/1 or 3 Gate Void vs Wall off + 1/1/1. To me the quickest and surest way to secure a win or a considerable lead should be my go to strategy in almost all situations in the game. Why go to a macro fest when it isn't needed? There isn't a right or wrong way to play. He plays smart, and obviously disregards the warped fantasy land a lot of SC players live in of how every game must be played with 3+ bases or the game sucks. Maybe a little less time spent on what the game should be instead of how it is might actually see a lot of people mature and we can stop the hundreds of threads complaining.. about everything. The game will get better, however the view of "1 base players are bad" is utter nonsense and needs to change. MC is as close as we get to living proof of this. If you think his success is mainly attributed to 1 Basing then perhaps Starcraft wasn't the game for you.

Playing a macro game PvT is very risky because if you misstep the game can easily be over despite being ahead in econ. MC is a very meticulous player so his allins are much stronger than other peoples due to refinement. Kinda reminds me of NonY in TSL2

I think BitByBit is much more deserving of the OneBaseKing title.
|
I thought this was going to be about AllInKing, who I believe plays on the NA server. Haha. Gotta love MC, though-- Most of the time his attacks aren't all-in, though. He just pressures until the moment he realises he's got the game won, then ends it. He doesn't just force the issue and then gg if it doesn't work. If you notice, MC focuses on aggressive openers, then can transition if it doesn't win him the game right off the bat.

You exaggerate to much. 4 gate is not an allin, just puts you on the backfoot if it fails.

This is the 1 base king, not all-in king silly.

The sad thing is that it's fucking true. MC's micro is sick. His macro is not. He fails when he tries to play macro games because he inevitably falls behind.
|
Actually bitbybitprime can't be the OneBaseKing because he fails. You have to be good at it to be the king, which MC is. MC's 1 base is even stronger than Foxer's 1 base, which is pretty good already. That is why he's the king.

PvT 1 base play is actually pretty broken, from both sides. It's really a dumb matchup that is very allin centric. Add on top of that korean love for allins and MC's ridiculous FF use.
I wish warpgates didn't exist, then this game might be fun.

i base is the way! go MC! lol whats funny is even on big maps 4 gate is viable due to warp in mechanics!
