I live in Sweden, it's mid Novemeber, in other words, it's not even winter yet.
But one graceful and peciliar night not long ago the world wanted to give us snow. Oh, how I hate snow.
Snow makes you freeze to death, you get wet all over clothes, you can't go outside casually, it takes forever to start up the car. Just everything goes FUCKED with snow.
Worst of all, you can't get a job in this cursed land, 90% of my friends in my age (19-20) does not have a job.
Gonna leave Sweden A.S.A.P. when I'm done with studys.

i love the snow the no job part sucks and so does cold but snow just puts a smile on my face and warms me up

Canadian in Vancouver here....
Snow > Rain at least (Last year we had 30+ consecutive days of rain) It pretty much rains and rains and rains.
|
I too love the snow. Sure the few days where it's like -40°C with wind chill suck, but snow itself is pretty fun/awesome. If anything the cold wind is much worse since it freezes you while snow just tickles your soul.

(from Calgary)

Words of encouragement: We will have the coldest winter for over a thousand years now, according to Illustrerad Vetenskap!
|
Not being able to get a job sucks, but living in Calgary I don't really feel bad for you. Its just snow dude. Get some decent winter clothing and a car with a block heater.
|
Move to Texas!
The weather during late / mid-Fall in Houston is amazing...open skies, maybe some clouds here and there, bright sunlight, cool breeze...
...and when Winter comes, you may see a tiny bit of frost every other decade. Maybe.
If you hate mosquitoes as much as I do, move to El Paso. Mesquite trees in every direction, glorious rolling hills and mountain sides, and lots of sunlight. It would be a good idea to learn Spanish, though, if you do come here.

Wanna swap? We get snow ~once per 3 years if you're in the right place and once per 5-10 years otherwise. Lots of rain though.
|
You tired? Lucky you i never saw and touch
|
My god we get snow once every 5 years and it just like maybe an inch. Most of the time it doesent even stick! In the last 10 years of my life i seen snow that actaully sticked 3 times in my life. :/.
Georgia btw

Last year was terrible, there was so much snow houses and shit broke down where I love. Big warehouses like IKEA and stuff, my car broke down also due to intense frosting. Snow can be fun, FOR 1 DAY. When you have snow for 5 months you wont be struttin that ass.

One person from Sweden trying to encourage a couple to move there from the USA, and another guy making a blog about how he needs to get the hell out lol
I have a feeling you wouldn't mind the snow as much if it weren't for some other factors about living in Sweden compacting it such as the awkward day/night schedule. But yeah you get sick of it after a while :p
In NY I get my fill which is a small percentage of what you guys in some parts of Canada and in Sweden get. Well... someone living in those places really shouldn't be complaining about the climate... it's no shocker XD

I would embrace 5 months of snow with a smile on my face...snow > ordinary cold esp if its on the level of "Snowmaggedon" hahaha

Actually, snow is relatively warm. Imagine all the snow was water, now then you would be fucked.
I like snow, it´s pretty. And cold is so badass.

When the snow is so cold, that it hurts to inhale the air, the wind blows hard in your face and you get red frostbite stains to the cold. You're forced to wear shitloads of equipment to even be able to walk outside.
It becomes a frustration that forces FML-feelings all over you.

I LOVE the snow, dont take it for granted, there's something insanely tranquil and awesome about it, apart from the fact skiing is also ridiculously fun

Ireland is gorgeous year round. It's seriously one of the most beautiful places on Earth. I'd swap with you any day. I'd take consistent rain and green grass over bullshit New England weather where the weather forecasts are "there's a 60 percent chance of... something we aren't sure yet".
Seriously, how can you live near so much water and not have mosquitoes?

I don't take it for granted, I just want it to go away. Many of you are too stuck with childhood memories of snow.
Snow is.... death.....unforgiving.....cold.....

Oh how I yearn for snow. Year after year, living under the unforgiving sun of California. Never to embrace the cold goodness of snow.
Your lucky. I have never seen snow in my life. Its always 40 F or higher in so Cal. Every Christmas, you would see the sun outside and you would wonder, what so special?
I never got to grow up with snowball fights and I never ever built a snowman. I never got to build a snowfort or anything of the kind. Your lucky you get snow.

We could trade you and me, you're living my dream. I plan to move to California one day if life goes in the direction I want!

Give Boston your snow! It's not absurdly freezing outside yet and I'm disappointed.

Screw snow, that shiz sucks when you have to travel through it. People who love it are the ones who only have fond memories of it (example: frolicking). When you have to hike through knee-deep snow, eventually having everything from the knee down wet, then you'll know how much snow sucks. Yes it is fun... only when you're a kid - or acting like one.

Dude, Sweden is the most peaceful country in the world, and with Norway/Finland, has consistently been voted as the top 3 best places to retire. Why complain? At least you don't have to worry about your next meal, even if you don't have a job... In US, you can't do shit without a job, and it's hard to get one.
|
Well one thing I like about snow is that if you are chopping down trees and moving them out of forest, winter is best time to do it. No mosquitos harassing all the time and no extra animals either. You aren't getting that sweaty compared to summer time. No grass to cut (well snow to plow but no need motor to do that).
|
hope you like to ski
there are so many guys from Nordic countries here on TL, I'm jealous with your beautiful women, tons of snow, 100/100 internet connections, dreamhack, etc.
but wow, I did not know that you have 90% unemployment in the 19-20 age range. that's seriously crazy, I would imagine like street gangs and hooligans or something
|
there's something very serene and peaceful in snow. i remember going snowboarding one day, and to our luck, it had powder snowed like 2 feet the whole night. cutting new paths through the fresh snow, falling snowflakes getting caught in your beard, thinking of nothing but what you see in front of you, it's one of those very special experiences.
plus when it snows, i can sing along to cold wind blows (rhyme muthafucka!)
|
Snow and ice already on ground and cold winter coming... This won't make my bicycling easy =/

Snow is overrated imo. I think a lot of people don't realize the ridiculous annoyances that come with snow. Scraping ice off of your windows every morning in -10 to -20 Fahrenheit ( seriously we need to switch to metric) weather is one of the most bitter things ever. On top of being pretty bitter it also adds a lot of time to your morning routine because not only do you have to spend time scraping your windows, but usually you have to give your car a fair amount of time to warm up.
It makes driving a pain in the ass because not only the road is slippery, but most people drive like maniacs on top of it. Nothing like driving in a blizzard were you can only see a 3-4 car lengths in front of you ( sometimes worse ) with everyone driving 75+ mph 3 feet off of each others' bumpers. If the road isn't overly slick it is because it has been salted. If it has been salted it means that it is coating your car in this really nasty hard to clean gunk that usually won't be very cleanable until after winter which is also really cool.
On top of all of that snow also, as stated in the OP, has the tendency to get you pretty wet. Pretty damn unpleasant wearing cold wet clothing imo. Usually the bottoms of my pants get soaked every morning and I have to spend a good bit of the day with wet jean bottoms. It also tanks the air quality leaving this acrid horrible air that you get the fine opportunity to breath in all day.
Some of this could be Utah specific, like the over salting, but honestly snow isn't all glamor as Hollywood tends to portray it. I actually enjoy sledding, snowboarding, and snowmobiling, but compared to the everyday inconvenience of snow I am not sure it is worth it all the time. I would much prefer it if it just stayed up in the mountains.

I know how you feel, i hate snow too !
|
The grass is always greener on the other side
|
Oh how i miss the snow, when i used to live in CO i absolutely loved the snow, shoving out the driveway/driving on the icy road did get a bit annoying i guess T_T. Now that i live under the hot sun of CA i might just be having the "grass is greener on the other side" effect, but still man, snow is awesome

fuck no rain >>>>> snow
it's like the reason i live in vancouver, a compromise between warmer weather and canada.
it doesn't even rain that much tbh, only like 1/2 of the time

fuck, i use to love snowball fights as a kid.

Man, I fuck snow, if snow was a guy I'd shoot him hard in the face.

Snow is fun. Last winter we had like 1+ meter of it for a good number of months. And this summer we had like constant +33 C. I love variety.

Yeah, gtfo out then.
I love snow.
