Anyway, I'm going to break my blogs down to 4 parts from now on. Life, Sports, Video Games and StarCraft in that order. Ready? Okay:
LIFE
So life for me is going pretty well. I'm going to college on September 7th and going to orientation on the 2nd. I don't know what college will be like after spending 5 years at high school aka Hell on Earth. I'm going into a Television Broadcasting course hoping to graduate in two years and start doing play-by-play in the sports field. With any luck, I'll get a job up here in Canada with TSN or The Score or some other major network (MLG?).
I'm still enjoying my summer vacation. It sucks that the fall is coming up but I take the good with the bad. The hot weather maybe going away but the vibrant colours of Autumn are something to look forward to. I also look forward to doing the play-by-play of my local hockey team on away games where I get to travel on the team bus. Ah, sports. Is there anything that you can't do? The answer is no.
SPORTS
Speaking of sports, let's talk some.
The Little League World Series has already started. I've never gotten it. It's okay for kids aged 12 and older to be involved in athletic competition but why televise it? I know ESPN has the "Worldwide Leader in Sports" reputation to live up to but children playing baseball. Somewhere in America, the is a pedo watching TV with sweat trickling down his face. Why would parents even expose their kids to something like this is beyond me. I hope these kids learn about fair play and have a good time. It's interesting to note that 75% of these kids from all around the world as well as parts of America say their favourite player is Derek Jeter. I don't think he's THAT good.
And the AP released the Top 25 in college football and surprise, surprise, Alabama is number 1. The karma gods haven't yet cursed Nick Saban to a lifetime of being offensive co-ordinator with no chance of promotion. Yawn. Boise State is a bit of a surprise at #3 but they've had two undefeated seasons in the last two years. It was only a matter of time before they were ranked this high. And one of the funniest things about college football is how screwed up the rankings are. Pitt and WVU are both in the Top 25 while Cincinnati, the program that won the Big East last year and the year before that, is 26th. Hmmmm. And how about UNC as the number 18 seed. Say what? They were ranked 21st this time last year and had a 8-5 record going 4-4 vs ACC opponents. Another head scratcher. I don't watch a lot of NCAA Football (me living in the magical land of Canada and whatnot) but I know when the AP has made mistakes with their rankings. Moving on.
VIDEO GAMES
So I have IGN.com on my favourites list and I'm seriously debating whether I should take it off. I'm sure you've been to the site. And I bet you've seen how everyone there is going ape-shit over the new Halo game. I probably should have seen this coming but like a stupid idiot, I didn't. The signs were there. Top Ten HALO kills of the week. HALO-REACH Clip of the Day. IGN has a serious nerd boner for Halo.
Is anyone else excited for MvC3. I know I'm not. I'm not a big fan of fighting games (though I do play Brawl) but I know the allure of MvC. It's the best of Marvel going up against most of the Street Fighter roster, Mega Man, and the other guys and gals from Capcom. So far they have on Marvel's side: Captain America, Deadpool, Doctor Doom, Hulk (smash), Iron Man, Super Skrull, Thor and Wolverine. And for Capcom they have: That weird dog-thing from Okami, Dante, Chris Redfield, Chun-Li, Ryu, that sexy bat chick, Trish and a cat lady. And now they've added Viewtiful Joe and Dormammu. The funny thing about Dormammu is NOBODY KNOWS HOW TO PRONOUNCE HIS NAME! Let's say it together people: Door-Mam-Moo; Dormammu. He's from Dr. Strange btw.
STARCRAFT
To anyone who is having trouble against Terran on Desert Oasis, watch this video:
That's from a game between CauthonLuck and Aslax who is a WarCraft 3 player. It was casted by iNcontroL and some dude named JP but it was a very good game that showed that WARP PRISMS CAN BE USED!
We see these threads all the time by people saying "I've tried everything against Terran and nothing works," and my answer to that is no, no you haven't.
Warp Prisms, for those who don't know, are basically Terran Medivacs only better. They don't heal your units but they can transport units like the Medivac. So how are they better? Well maybe it's because they can act as a pylon creating power fields. Imagine what you could do with four of these and a handful of gateways. You could transport units into an opponets main and once the drops are complete, BAM!, convert those suckers into power mode and warp units in. I think it's a great strategy but obviously, people will disagree.
But it's true that I am getting sick of this "Terran is overpowered" arguemnt. Pardon my French but c'est des conneries. There is no race in StarCraft 2 that is superior. Only players that are superior. End of discussion.
I'm also looking forward to watching the live stream of the MLG StarCraft 2 Tournament that is happening in Raleigh. We know that Day9 will be there along with Husky and HD. Yayz. My only quip about the list is that is does not include IdrA. I'm not IdrA's biggest fan but he deserves to be there. As much as it pains me to say this, he is one of the best SC2 players anywhere.
So that's it. The end. I hope you have read the whole thing where I have opened a window to my soul. To my very being. Hope enjoyed reading this. Jusqu'à la prochaine fois
PICTURE OF THE DAY
This woman was arrested after breaking the window of a McDonalds Drive-Thru after she was told that they didn't serve Chicken McNuggets... at 6:30 in the morning.
