It's not just bw players who are put at a disadvantage by a lot of the things we are seeing in beta... but of course you a right a large % of the players also won't give a crap about most of them. And for whoever says that they won't care about my $40 it's the principle that matters. It makes me feel vindicated.

General gameplay: -xel'naga watchtowers remove the need for solid scouting and game knowledge. why bother when you can see 50% of the map? -units don't move like they "should" compared to BW. where's moving shot? everything clumps super tight! -very little unit micro apart from ability gimmicks (wc3 anyone?) -hard counters noooooo! seems like it's a constant game of getting the counter units, rather than watching boxer/jaedong/bisu completely outplay their opponent with tactics and micro -most battles consist of throwing armies at each other and see who comes ahead -everything looks like it handles just like a valkyrie and we know how much people loved valkyries Specific units: -collosus are boring! especially when reaver/shuttle was so cool -reapers are one of the most uninteresting units i've ever seen. one trick pony! works against bads, useless against good players -immortal/roach/marauder are all pretty similar to watch. high damage, high damage soaking, nothing exciting -thors are just attack move with an ability. YAWN! -just as many unused units as BW. nobody uses battlecruisers/carriers/mothership/ultralisk/archons/reapers I could go on and on about units but I won't bother. I also really dislike a lot of the animations and sounds. Zerglings attacking still sounds like a wet newspaper. You can barely hear or see marines shooting. Hydralisk attacks are near invisible and don't sound nearly as cool as BW. Same with mutalisks! Zerg voice acting sucks in general, don't really know what to say. To finish, I really don't think Blizzard understands what made BW amazing to watch and play - even though I'm sure the developers didn't intend some of it. Units had such a great relationship with eachother. Bio terran versus defiler play? It usually came down to positioning and micro. You could see who was the better player. Winning came down to game knowledge mixed with map knowledge, APM and where you spent your attention. Anyway I've tried to cover too many things in this post. SC2 gameplay so far is a huge dissapointment to me. That and battle.net 0.2 (LOL!~!~!).

Its not fun, insighful or thought provoking... if you don't want to buy the game, then don't. Big deal... I really wish more people thought like me on this matter so these sorts of threads/blog entries would go into a thread graveyard instantly ![]()

I'll probably buy it when the price has gone down, at least for the single player. But as it is, they don't really seem to care what we think. The fact that they broke Warcraft 3 balance with their changes to the blademaster and have left it like that doesn't exactly increase my confidence either. Something just feels really off... went back and played Starcraft today, and boy did it feel a million times better. And that's how it felt 10 years ago- natural.

I want to play the single player campaign. I love the story so much and I would buy these JUST for that. The multiplayer is just an added bonus. It still has multiplayer. Nothing on Bnet is making my matches more annoying or boring (aside from that odd minimap glitch). To be honest, when it boils down to it, I could care less about talking to people in the game itself. I'm so used to no one saying anything in most online games that it doesn't bug me. And I just get this feeling that the community will work things out if they really want SC2 to do well as a competitive game. If they feel really strongly, they'll do something. If Blizzard is intent on destroying any attempts when they come up, then maybe I will just drop my support of them.

And you could order a bunch of pizzas ($60 worth) and have it delivered to their headquarters in Irvine, CA to get even with them. You can also tell your non RTS hardcore friends that sc2 is meh and that it's not worth purchasing.
