Alright, beta's been out for quite a while now and it's still a pretty stupid game. It's becoming increasingly obvious that this will never be good enough to become a competitive game. Blizzard is completely mismanaging everything from design to art to UI to battle.net to balance itself.
Right now zerg is unbelievably strong against protoss. There's literally no way to win against mutalisks. The only viable option is the 4warp gate all in attack that, if it fails, you're completely fucked. This is not good game design. Zerg is the only race that can quickly expand which, since their tier 1 units are the cheapest and most efficient tier 1 units in the game, is no risk at all. And expansions in SC2 don't function the same way as Brood War; Zerg, with their ridiculously overpowered spawn larva function (holy shit who actually believes this is even remotely balanced??) they can saturate mineral lines instantly and larva stops becoming a resource. So, Zerg immediately takes a ridiculous advantage.
Protoss is by and large the weakest race, despite the whining and bitching of the unskilled players currently in the beta. I'd be too humble if I said I wasn't really damn good at this game. I'd be cocky if I said I was one of the best, though. My point is, there is a very low skill ceiling in this game. Once you get to point x on the skill level, there is no factor other than current balance bullshit to who wins or loses. PvZ? Once he gets mutas you've already lost the game. PvT? It seems like the only viable option now that immortals got nerfed (more on that in a second) is void ray harass, and if you do well enough at that (which you should cause it's easy) you can expand and win the game. PvT's a boring ezfest. PvP's boring phoenix fest. Until they nerf phoenixes, which they will int he next patch, I'll put 21 esports dollars on it, if you don't have phoenixes in your army you've lost the game.

Anyone with half a fucking brain can see that our tech 2 units cost 250/100 and 4 fucking supply should beat your cheap ass tier 1 roaches and marauders. Man, it's not that difficult to comprehend that. Immortals were completely balanced before the patch and now, completely useless, take way too long to build and still cost an exorbitant amount of resources.
I am capable, unlike most of the people currently beta testing, of looking at this game as a whole and saying, objectively, that this or that is probably not entirely balanced. I thought colossus were way too strong before they got nerfed, now they're pretty alright. Viking range is way too long, storm is so USELESS now, not because the spell itself is bad, but because the investment into templar tech is NOT WORTH THE SPELL. It doesn't do enough damage, it's too small and way too easily dodged with the unlimited control group bullshit. And that's if you're LOL LUCKY enough to feedback the ghosts before they've insta-emp'd your entire army.

Let's talk for a second about scouting. Terran sends an scv into protoss base, gets to scout until the first chronoboosted stalker comes out. Don't know the timings for this but shit you just wasted a chrono boost on a stalker AND he got to scout your base. Zerg sends a drone into protoss base, gets to scout until the stalker/sentry comes out. Damn. Your opponent gets to see your opening tech every single game! That's pretty damn reasonable to me, as keeping a scout alive requires some decent multitask.
But protoss? Protoss can't scout fuck all. UNUPGRADED ZERGLINGS MOVE FASTER THAN PROBES OFF OF CREEP. How has this oversight gone so long in this beta? Would it be that hard to lower unupgraded ling speed by the tiniest percentage so that a probe could stay alive against unfuckingmicro'd zerglings? Seriously, Protoss can't scout but the other races can worker scout for free.
Who in their right mind thinks this game is fucking balanced? If you think this game is well designed, balanced, if you think it's gonna be the next esport or big publicized item...
you're fucking delusional. This game is trash, it will make blizzard a fucking ton of money on day 1, and it will die in less than a year. I wish blizzard would just cancel the motherfucking thing and let Brood War reign as THE PERFECT GAME.

Sigh. That's just balance issues! You can't connect to other gateways, turning what was once a global gaming community and the ENTIRE REASON for blizzard's continuing financial success, into a cloistered, antisocial experience.

Strange how most other top players completely disagree with you isn't it lol
This includes both top bw players who are now top sc2 players and people from other games who came over for sc2 and worked hard and are very good. You and orb should start a club though. Apparently sc2 is fucking terrible and all of us who like it right now are just stupid.

Surprisingly, As insane and crazy as it makes me feel, I really agree with the OP on a lot of stuff here.
Phoenixes dont need a nerf. They are certainly not OP. If anything, they need a slight buff.
One of the things I disagree with his how you predict SC2 will progress. I know it'll never compare to BW, but at least give it a chance... and by chance, I mean give it more time than just BETA.
