Alright, beta's been out for quite a while now and it's still a pretty stupid game. It's becoming increasingly obvious that this will never be good enough to become a competitive game. Blizzard is completely mismanaging everything from design to art to UI to battle.net to balance itself.
Right now zerg is unbelievably strong against protoss. There's literally no way to win against mutalisks. The only viable option is the 4warp gate all in attack that, if it fails, you're completely fucked. This is not good game design. Zerg is the only race that can quickly expand which, since their tier 1 units are the cheapest and most efficient tier 1 units in the game, is no risk at all. And expansions in SC2 don't function the same way as Brood War; Zerg, with their ridiculously overpowered spawn larva function (holy shit who actually believes this is even remotely balanced??) they can saturate mineral lines instantly and larva stops becoming a resource. So, Zerg immediately takes a ridiculous advantage.
Protoss is by and large the weakest race, despite the whining and bitching of the unskilled players currently in the beta. I'd be too humble if I said I wasn't really damn good at this game. I'd be cocky if I said I was one of the best, though. My point is, there is a very low skill ceiling in this game. Once you get to point x on the skill level, there is no factor other than current balance bullshit to who wins or loses. PvZ? Once he gets mutas you've already lost the game. PvT? It seems like the only viable option now that immortals got nerfed (more on that in a second) is void ray harass, and if you do well enough at that (which you should cause it's easy) you can expand and win the game. PvT's a boring ezfest. PvP's boring phoenix fest. Until they nerf phoenixes, which they will int he next patch, I'll put 21 esports dollars on it, if you don't have phoenixes in your army you've lost the game.

Immortals were completely balanced before the patch and now, completely useless, take way too long to build and still cost an exorbitant amount of resources.
I am capable, unlike most of the people currently beta testing, of looking at this game as a whole and saying, objectively, that this or that is probably not entirely balanced. I thought colossus were way too strong before they got nerfed, now they're pretty alright. Viking range is way too long, storm is so USELESS now, not because the spell itself is bad, but because the investment into templar tech is NOT WORTH THE SPELL. It doesn't do enough damage, it's too small and way too easily dodged with the unlimited control group bullshit. And that's if you're LOL LUCKY enough to feedback the ghosts before they've insta-emp'd your entire army.

Let's talk for a second about scouting. Terran sends an scv into protoss base, gets to scout until the first chronoboosted stalker comes out. Don't know the timings for this but shit you just wasted a chrono boost on a stalker AND he got to scout your base. Zerg sends a drone into protoss base, gets to scout until the stalker/sentry comes out. Damn. Your opponent gets to see your opening tech every single game! That's pretty damn reasonable to me, as keeping a scout alive requires some decent multitask.
But protoss? Protoss can't scout fuck all. UNUPGRADED ZERGLINGS MOVE FASTER THAN PROBES OFF OF CREEP. How has this oversight gone so long in this beta? Would it be that hard to lower unupgraded ling speed by the tiniest percentage so that a probe could stay alive against unfuckingmicro'd zerglings? Seriously, Protoss can't scout but the other races can worker scout for free.
Who in their right mind thinks this game is fucking balanced? If you think this game is well designed, balanced, if you think it's gonna be the next esport or big publicized item...
you're fucking delusional. This game is trash, it will make blizzard a fucking ton of money on day 1, and it will die in less than a year. I wish blizzard would just cancel the motherfucking thing and let Brood War reign as THE PERFECT GAME.

This includes both top bw players who are now top sc2 players and people from other games who came over for sc2 and worked hard and are very good. You and orb should start a club though. Apparently sc2 is fucking terrible and all of us who like it right now are just stupid.

Phoenixes dont need a nerf. They are certainly not OP. If anything, they need a slight buff.
One of the things I disagree with his how you predict SC2 will progress. I know it'll never compare to BW, but at least give it a chance... and by chance, I mean give it more time than just BETA.

SC2 is not terrible at all its preety much better than most of the RTS out there and 2nd best after BW. I doubt it will even get close to the orignal but 2nd is ok i guess.
For me i havent tried SC2 nor plan to play it much because im too old to learn new games and its not BW. BW got everything i need from a game and i dont plan to change something that doenst need changing.

You do know at one point during the SC Betas Reavers did 250 damage... that got changed, give SC2 more beta time and see where the balance changes are going, they did a recent content patch, the big balance patch is going to be soon and by big I mean 3-5 changes.

That's not what I said at all because I find them distinctly unusable in PvZ and PvT, I mean that currently they only way to play PvP is with phoenixes. I've tried everything from void rays to 3warpgate blinkstalkers and nothing works. It's not about early harassment either, it's that when you get to a certain army size, about 15-20 units, if your opponent has 5 phoenixes in his army and you don't, you're going to lose. Every single time, hands down. I've played a dozen or two PvPs with this concept in mind and I think that currently you are required to play stargate tech which is just kinda disappointing.

Unfortunately, this game doesn't have that long to wait. Think about modern gaming and how it's different from gaming 12 years ago. We would be much more patient in a beta 12 years ago, in a SC beta, when we didn't have something else to compare it to. It's hardly fair to blizzard but that's not my problem either. They don't have 5 years to balance this game, people will move on from it. Is what I'm saying clear? I'm not wording it very well.

Your blog post talks about how Blizzard is mismanaging design, art, UI, battle.net and balance. But you seem to mostly be displeased about how you are not winning games as protoss because of apparent balance issues judging by all the paragraphs of balance ranting.
Personally I think they've done a decent job of all of the above. Designing a game that is better than BW from scratch is not an easy task, and I think it would be good if people didn't expect SC2 to be BW's superior little brother.

I got a little tired of typing after the balance portion, but I could go back to the rest at some point.
SC2 logically should be a superior game. Why would we expect anything less from a sequel?

Calling my post a garbage post certainly isn't a good way to get off on the right foot. You specifically asked me if there were any points I disagreed with; I picked the ones that I did. Ideally you would go through them and see if maybe you want to make any modifications to your points before I actually try to explain what things you are right/wrong about so we don't waste time but continuing to be horribly condescending to everyone is more entertaining in the short term I guess.

Blizzard is never in a rush to release a game. I don't know why you think they are. They make their money when they release the product. They aren't bleeding money by keeping this game in beta, sure they are paying the development team but they have a lot of money stockpiled to sustain this for a very long time. The shareholders are all about the profits is true, too bad they have a gem like WoW to keep those shareholders very happy.
The sucess of e-sports doesn't rely on the game 100%. Blizzard can pump enough money into tournaments that grab the attention of the best players in the world that they will get sponsors who want their name on the tournaments. It can be called a "garbage" game by a few or a lot of people but if the money is there the game will go on.

But you are saying that they are making a bad game, I was saying they aren't rushing it because they never rush a game. I wouldn't be surprised if your stab at the release date is correct. Remember what we see in beta is 1/4 of the game. To some this is 100% of the game, to most of the world this is 1/4 of the game to them. The game will be very polished and complete. They have their vision if it does not corespond to yours then don't buy it and play it. Singleplayer is actually important to a lot of people. E-sports is just a sport if you throw enough money at it with a base of a true sport people will follow it.

I'll concede that the single player is important and I'll be buying the game for that aspect certainly. and I'll probably enjoy custom maps but barring so really groundbreaking balance patches in the coming months, the multiplayer is not good enough to have a professional scene! Can you imagine if BW had some of the balance issues that this game has? It would never have been successful in the first place.
