So as some of you might have noticed
On mangafox, probably the biggest manga website on the internet where you can read all manga 100% free with regular updates, all manga with any of the tags "mature, yuri, yaoi, loli, shota, echhi" and a few others have been instaremoved. This has been the result of this PoS article http://l7world.com/2010/04/google-sponsors-child-pornography.html
This one article has caused multiple websites to have to remove pretty much most of their content in a panic.
This is basically destroying the manga community, nearly every single popular manga has instances of these tags, and its pretty disgusting the kind of censorship that is going on as a result.
Any of you affected by this? How do you feel?
I'm updating all my bookmarks to http://www.mangatoshokan.com/ now, but it will never be the same as mangafox.. QQ Mangafox had the awesome forums for every single manga with loads of people posting so you could discuss your favourite manga that is what i am going to miss the most. It seems that website has most of the manga i want to read up to date (except for bokura ga ita)
Anybody know any good alternatives where there is a similar discussion level like mangafox so i can chat about my favourite mangas with people?
QQ a sad day for manga

Don't understand why they would remove yuri/yaoi/ecchi. Seems like an overreaction tbh.
I get loli though.

Onemanga > Mangafox. Nuff said...
But if onemanga goes out like boom bang pow, I'll cry.... for real... that's something you don't see everyday which is how important it is to my life.

Why do I still see yuri/ecchi/smut etc in the search options? :O

OKAY
So I definitely thought this said
MeganFox Naked

They remove "echhi?" Bullshit.
Echhi is one of the biggest categories in manga. Some people want to read echhi manga and some choose not to.

I lol'd at this. Looked the title again, saw MeganFox Naked, and lol'd again. But yeah. I've been wondering what exactly happened; Thanks for the article. Hopefully nothing happens to onemanga...

Fuck. Now I only see MeganFox Naked.

ya isnt onemanga the biggest and even mangastream bigger than mangafox?
but ya, this is really a pointless ban imo, you have children killing there parents, shooting there school and what is done about that, nothing, but as soon as some1 see a racy photo or image, the hammer must come down to stop the injustice
really wtf

wait, ecchi manga are all nuked? seriously?
if anything, only loli/shota should be removed....
|
So get rid of all the gay loli shit and leave the good manga..

There just might be enough overlaps between regular ecchi and lolicon genres to remove and ban a great chunk of shounen series (considering lots of them are partly ecchi).
I hope the possible cut-off point (what's illegal and what's not) doesn't end up being too high.

so will crap like to-love-ru and sekirei be banned? or love hina? and basically all ecchi involving high schoolers?

MangaFox has a lot more smaller/less well known mangas than Onemanga tbh, and I used it more than Onemanga. While I haven't read manga in forever and I don't really care for those tags, censorship like this is still bullshit.

This thread got me reading on wikipedia a bit about the laws regarding computer generated child pornography. Apparently, it's illegal to posses images/videos of virtual children engaging in sexual activities? I thought it was only illegal if it is meant to depict a specific real child or if it actually has real children in it (as opposed to hand-drawn fictitious characters).
How exactly does banning that 'protect' children? Is my preliminary analysis wrong? I'm not so much defending fictitious child pornography as I am trying to find where a reasonable place to draw the line is.

You scared me that I wouldn't be able to finish reading Sundome, but that's still on there. There's just a little "mature" warning that you have to agree to before you can see it, now.
|
Yeah, they always had that. I can still see all the manga. Whats the problem?
